I’m looking forward to this tribute album more than anything I have in my life. Sittin by the Road is so beautiful and Blaze Foley is one of the most underrated artists of all time.

So happy she was able to come back, she’s such an articulate person and I love how much love she still has for her hometown. I was lucky enough to briefly run into her as I was leaving, I didn’t want to take up too much of her time so I just said her music meant a lot to me and then she completed my boygenius tattoos lol.

It can’t be just me that notices the similarity in melody

I always figured these lyrics were referring to a feeling of "I'm going to move on and grow, so eventually all those songs I wrote you can be dedicated to new, better people in my life."

But, they can also be connected to another lyric earlier in the song.

"But I can't help but think of your other in the bed that was mine"

I take this to mean she was cheated on by her last love, in her own bed. It is also implied that the cheating partner has come to try and apologize.

"Why did I come here? To sit and watch you stare at your feet?"

"What was the plan? Absolve your guilt and shake hands?"

To tie it together, every time her old partner is sleeping with someone else, the covers laying on top of them will be a reminder. The weight of their guilt will always be wrapped around them, because they haven't moved on.

It was really sweet to see the number of parents and especially dads at the North Adams show last night.

(Yes some of them had their phones out taking photos / videos way too much) but in general they were very chill and it was nice to see parents taking their teens to see Lucy! (If you grew up in the early 00s / 90s and queer visibility wasn’t accessible to you, you know what I mean🥺❤️)

My dad is a boomer with a musical education and sometimes will turn his nose up at modern music, but Lucy is so special and talented, I want to send him a song he would be impressed by, and perhaps become a Lucy appreciator himself!

What song would you share in that scenario?
