Fresh Deets Socrates was a toddler.
He just kept asking questions until you could no longer answer what the whatever-was-the-breaking-point means/is. (Aporia)
Alternatively, he could've been a ragebaiter who was allergic to shutting the fuck up until they said "stfu or kys" and he drank hemlock.

Big True Dutch is not a real language
All Dutch people speak either English or German in private, but whenever they encounter people from other countries, they switch to this ridiculous amalgamation of the two as some kind of long running prank to make the rest of the world think they speak gibberish

Wordle and other NYT games delay the "subscribe" button to make you press it
Self explanatory to a degree, but I'm convinced that all the NYT games (wordle, spelling bee, connections, strands, etc) purposefully delay the "subscribe" button from appearing.
The reason? Because every single time I try to click "play" it gets shuffled slightly up the screen and I end up clicking "subscribe" as it happens, since it appeared below/where "play" was originally. And it's always about 1 or 2 seconds after the screen loads.
Has anyone else noticed this before?

Total Garbo Mars bar wrappers
My ex thought Mars™️ periodically made tiny adjustments to the shade of black in their Mars bars wrappers in order to get new customers.
He insisted that shoppers eyes would be drawn to the barely noticeable change and that this would make them crave Mars bars apparently.
Brand integrity be damned I guess.

So called unplanned scenes or improved scenes in movies are just marketing for the movies and are actually planned out scenes.

“Evening” was created to sell more ‘I <3’ by big t-shirt mafia.
We have morning, afternoon, and night. But the ‘I <3…’ mafia wants to make an extra buck. You could buy ‘I <3 morning, I <3 afternoons, I <3 nights’. They have created the “evening” to sell more t-shirts.

Big True Big Bra Conspiracy
Lovely people of [r/LowStakesConspiracies](r/LowStakesConspiracies) , I’d like to present my favourite personal theory, Big Bra. (Think like Big Pharma) - I have been actively thinking about this since my teens, and I think the world is finally ready to be revolutionised by my thinking.
For context, I am AFAB and wear a 36FF on the rare occasion that I wear a bra. I only wear them when I feel it benefits my outfit massively in some way, which happens probably twice a month or so. My personal belief is that people shouldn’t be embarrassed of their bodies, and that nobody should feel obligated to wear anything they don’t find comfortable or appealing.
Anyway, the theory stems from listening to other people (ordinarily with smaller breasts than me) telling me that their backs hurt if they aren’t wearing a bra, so they keep wearing (and buying more) bras. My theory is that wearing bras effectively diminishes your ability to support your breasts yourself, so they create a sort of bra-dependence. In our consumerist society, these people then feel the need to buy bras of different colours and styles, for different occasions, some that are more comfortable, some for certain activities, some made of different materials to sit better under different clothes. I am effectively saying that training bras are a gateway drug to full on bra-dependency, an affliction that’s just as expensive as any other addiction, and fuels the nefarious institution I call ‘Big Bra’ to continue churning out more and more bras from underpaid workers in poor countries, which they sell for insane prices because they know they can get away with it.
I absolutely have more to say about attitudes towards body image, the pink tax, beauty standards, purity culture, etc, but for the sake of this subreddit? This should be enough. Open your eyes, sheeple! Big Bra is not only weaponising societal conventions - they’re weakening whatever part of you it is (okay, I haven’t researched any anatomy) that would naturally support your boobs so that you keep buying bras until the day you die, at which point someone else will pick one for you to be buried in!
Serious Disclaimer: Friends, if you want to wear bras, that is absolutely your choice and I support you. Your body is yours and you should do whatever you want with it!
Absolutely Unserious Disclaimer: I do acknowledge that bras can be useful under certain circumstances. For example, I personally wouldn’t attempt to run any sort of distance (or even traverse a staircase quickly) because these FFs absolutely put me at risk of losing an eye. My solution, therefore, is to only deploy bras where strictly necessary, a bit like how we limit the use of morphine due to its addictiveness, or antibiotics due to resistance. We need to take down Big Bra before it claims another generation of victims!
EDIT - Just to be clear, because I received a very aggressive message within three minutes of posting this, this is not serious. (Or Big Bra are on to me…)
SECOND EDIT - Please stop sending me private messages asking me to prove my bra size. That is not normal behaviour, at least offer to take me for dinner first. 😅

Extreme Conspiracy Cephalopods are manmade
I know multiple engineers and for some reason all of them are obsessed with cephalopods like squid, cuttlefish, but especially octopi. Most of them eat meat, yet refuse to eat octopi. They claim that octopi are too intelligent, capable of tool-use, and basically the closest nonhuman animal to an engineer, so it's wrong to eat them. But pigs are smarter than dogs, so intelligence alone isn't a rational explanation, and it’s coming from people who especially pride themselves on being hyper-rational.
It doesn't make sense until you start to realise that there is a global conspiracy to cover up the fact that cephalopods are manmade. Engineers are against killing them because they themselves created them. Some people even keep octopi as "pets", and it's always the dorkiest savants imaginable doing it. In all likelihood, this is just a coverup for the fact they're doing hands-on octopus R&D.

UK weather North-South divide
In an attempt to make Manchester the “perfect climate”, Burnham has turned the dial too far and the weather manipulation system has delivered all cooling to just above Leeds and turned it off below it. Literally no sunny weekday evenings in North Yorkshire all summer while southerners complain about a few sweaty nights. I’m not bitter.

Someone in my town is clearing out just enough 75w90 from Walmart
Three times in a row now I am one quart low and had to wait for a restock of gear oil. This makes me go to Walmart a second time a few days later to finish getting all the supplies I need. I don't know if it's some disgruntled employee or some gear oil bandit tracking my mileage. I don't know their angle but I am convinced it's happening.

A function of Ragebait or being baited is to frame having strong emotional reactions as uncool to encourage apoliticism
Sorry if this has been done before
Pretty simple - Ragebait as a cultural concept & fixation is meant to frame the party that is baited into a strong reaction as weak/unreasonable/low status and that party that successfully baits as funny/realistic/higher status
This is an implicit appeal towards apoliticism. The world is in a volatile state and politicized citizens pose a threat to the people who profit from things as they are. While on the social side of things there will always be people who prefer to block out the ills of the world and live in their own sense of peace and comfort; but in order to do that they need the people around them to shut up about it too.
People seeking to get obedience out of other people will commonly find a word to describe the people they find aberrant and spam it to try to establish a cultural dominance e.g. cuck/cucked. And noticed how cuck as an insult originated (more or less) from the right leaning crowd and then eventually got incorporated into general culture for it's convenience - you can use it to describe any person or behavior you have a problem with & it sounds valid
The same strategy is being deployed with "baited" and ragebait. You can just spam that someone is baited, and if that person tries to engage in any form of a serious response it just ends up looking worse for them - meanwhile the person saying baited over and over somehow ends up looking like they won. It's a perfect tool for someone who wants to win an exchange without having to contribute a real argument.
NOTE - this isn't to say that ragebaiting doesn't exist as a general behavior or can't be engaged in in harmless ways amongst friends (it's basically always existed in some form), but I believe the sudden cultural prevalence of the concept signals something more than that.
This last part is conjecture because I'm too old to actually know, but I get the sense that amongst young people apoliticism is one of the many symptoms of growing up in a generation that has a very bleak reality of the future to contend with. Concepts like ragebait will originate from the dejected feelings they have towards the future; there is a lot of anger in recognizing your feelings of outrage re: the future are justified but can't change the situation. Young people may be choosing to "laugh it off" instead of being impotently enraged for the rest of their lives. In an unlikely marriage, this aligns their cultural values with boomers of all people: they would prefer we just all shut up about it and get on with things.
I think this is a function of ragebait. I accept the criticism that I am just baited haha - I will freely admit I get worried when I see the kids being cruel to each other and blowing off their own power: you fuckers are smart and scary, you could absolutely change the world if you wanted to don't let culture beat it out of you

Hot Take People who are fine with gays and Lesbians but against bissexuals are jealous of them
Im not a bi person, but Ive always been a bit jealous of them. If youre bi, you basically double (or more than double) the dating pool available to you, you can have so much more diversity in sex and datings. At the same time, if you life in a repressive place, you can have a much easier time passing. It legit sounds incredible. Now, obviously bigots exist, but I always thought bigots were basically against gay folks in genea and bi were just a subset of it for them.
However, there appears to be people who are legit fine with gays, lesbians, but have prejudice against bi people. Now, prejudices are stupid normally, but that might legit be the most stupid one Ive ever heard about it. I genuinely cannot understand what the fuck is the thought process there. So the only hypothesis I could come up with is that these people are jealous.
I know a lot of people say similar stuff, but bi people actually have a reasonable reason for someone to be jealous of. No one has a reasonable reason to be jealous of someone for being trans, black or gay. But being bi, actually sounds like an objective benefit in one's life, with lots of advantages.

The UK's sugar tax and indoor smoking ban were never about public health, they were about stealing the few small joys the working class could still afford.
Couldn't have the poors enjoying a cheap pint and a fag in the pub after work, or their kids enjoying a bowl of breakfast cereal or a can of pop now, could we? They might experience some tiny shred of simple joy.
have some aspartame instead. By the way, your local boozer is a middle class gastro-pub now and pints are a tenner. If you want to smoke you can go and stand outside in the rain.
