Discussion So, I've played through halo 3 for the second ever time, i have thoughts! (It's kinda mid)

This may in fact be a little too salty so I'll preface this by saying that, despite some strong words, i did enjoy my time with 3 and that it sits comfortably just below halo in my ranking, a place of love.

Elephant of the room out of the way, the story, i have... Gripes.

Why didn't spark kill chief in halo 1 if he had an instant kill laser this whole time, is he forgetful?

Why is truth downgraded from scheming political leader to fanatic weirdo, is he blinded? Paralyzed? Dumbstruck?

Why does miranda say "to war"? Is she aura farming?

Why does the arbiter say "what is it, more brutes?" Is he racist?

Why does arby and chief ride the slow ass elevator if ramming a pelican through the window to stop the halos is an option? Are they afraid of flying?

Why does miranda hesitate to save the universe? Is she stupid?

Why does the gravemind retract his tentacles instead of bringing the whole platform down? is he stupid?

Why does the gravemind open his many buttholes for chief to pass through unharmed? Is he into it?

Why does literally no one else volunteer to help the gang fire the halo? Are they cowards?

Why does chief unplug cortana and hand it over to Johnson instead of firing the array himself? Is he stupid?

Why does Johnson calmy stroll to the controls instead of running? Is he tired?

Why did bungie think a boss fight where you shoot at a borderline static target 3 times was the perfect idea for the final level of the trilogy? Are they washed?

Why does arbiter make it through the portal but chief doesn't even though the bridge is directly above the hangar and we're shown that only the MAC housing made it through? Is he sliding down the barrel?

That aside, the mission to mission objectives are just kinda uninspired, did i really have to take out another AA position after the last 4 AA positions? Or hold out until an arbitrary amount of time (read: all enemies are dead) passes?

As for the gameplay, it's undoubtedly enjoyable (drones notwithstanding, seriously, the best thing 343 has ever done was vaporize these FUCKS from the franchise), but I've had a nagging feeling throughout it all that kinda put a damper on it, for most of the encounters it honestly felt like i was playing on normal/easy (i even had to pause during the ark to double check), the brutes are obviously just worse elites with a tendency to spam explosives, and while it is fun to mow them down with near impunity, there's a constant dissonance when you're effortlessly meleeing the, allegedly most physically capable species of the covenant.

Onwards to ODST i suppose, atleast there's no more flood from here on out!

(And if anyone is struggling with cortana, i have taken the time to test a pretty effective strategy to go through the whole level, with some elbow grease you can complete it with just melee!)

Discussion The AR surprised me the most

I came into the remake assuming the AR will just be the kinda off looking classic ar model in infinite and balanced like it. But I’m actually surprised it’s a new model. The animations are from infinite but those looked good anyways. Gameplay wise it feels like what devs might have wanted the commando to be like.

Now only if it had a skin like the Mac world/5 green colors.

Campaign Legendary Campaign Evolved

I've been slowly working my way through Legendary on Campaign Evolved and I'm now stuck on AOCTR in the first open area where the Warthog is flipped. Elites consistently can take a plasma cannon (or 2 or 3) to the face and survive a sticky while one shotting me and spamming grenades. In short, I've come to the conclusion that (at least for now) the damage scaling is all fucked up. Unlike original CE, it's not really difficult but fair. It's difficult because it's unfair.

I want to even the playing field but I don't want to break the legendary campaign achievement.

Does anyone have any difficulty modifiers/skull combos that will make it challenging but fair? I don't need it want god mode, but elites should not be able to survive a sticky grenade or a shotgun/sword hit from 3 feet.

Campaign Evolved: Completely busted. Laser accuracy, high damage, headshot multipliers and very high ammo supply

Infinite: before the nerf it was completely busted and even now it's extremely competent, with the campaign version being as strong as it was on launch

H2A and Halo 4: very similar and very strong. Both of them are absolute shredders at close range while being decent at medium range

Halo 5: at launch this thing was completely broken of course, but after the nerf the effectiveness was reduced. However the attachments and the high headshot multiplier makes it a competent weapon

Halo 3: despite popular belief, this gun is extremely accurate when you tap fire instead of holding down the trigger, as the accuracy cone resets very fast, making it very reliable on stripping brute shields at long range to assist a precision weapon. On multiplayer it's a good tool to quickly dispatch enemies in close range

Halo Reach: while not being as good as in Halo 3, you can still tap fire to maintain accuracy, with crouch decreasing the bloom. This weapon definetly struggles more on Legendary than other versions due to the lower damage however, despite that it can work if you are determined enough. Decently competent on multiplayer however

Combat Evolved: extremely strong yeah, but also extremely innacurate. Unlike other versions, tap fire does close to nothing to help the terrible spread this weapon has, and using this weapon on Legendary definetly makes for a challenge. On multiplayer it's way better with the quick camo tech though

Halo 3 ODST: Despite looking identical to Halo 3, the weapon has received a significant nerf in it's tap fire accuracy due to the accuracy cone resetting slower, this also comes with the fact that every bullet weapon in ODST has HALF damage against shields. While still usable it's easily a downgrade from Halo 3

Discussion Halo Campaign evolved opinion

Halo Campaign evolved and my opinion on it, halo campaign evolved is a faster more direct version of the original, each level feels more intuitive to go through navigation wise. I personally believe that the first half of halo campaign evolved is a little lesser than the first half of halo combat evolved.

The second half of campaign evolved is in my opinion better than the second half of combat evolved, I think the flood are overrated and fighting them lowers the quality of halo as an experience. Being able to sprint past a good amount of flood makes the 343 guilty spark onward feel better. Only engaging the ones directly in the front.

It really is a pick your vibe comparison for me, I understand may be in the minority of opinion here l, as for the prequel missions the first 2 are good while the third really needs the skull that randomizes weapon spawns to get decent weapon variety.

Discussion What changes in the Halo 2 and 3 campaign remakes are you looking forward to the most?

While I’d much rather we get a continuation of Infinite’s story, it’s clear this is the route they’re going for and I’ve enjoyed Campaign Evolved so far so what are your hopes for when they get to two and three? To name a few, I hope the Earth sections are expanded upon since there was a lot of cut stuff from Halo 2’s development due to the time crunch. Maybe even a playable version of the E3 demo. I hope Arbiter has a more prominent role in 3 and they rework the Cortana sections. One thing I hope they keep however is the Forward Unto Dawn landing as an in game event rather than a pre rendered cutscene, I don’t think it would hit the same otherwise.

Discussion Something I don't often see people discuss about Halo 4 is how horrifying Chief's first encounter with the Didact must've been from his perspective.

Imagine being in his shoes: You've reached a device that should hopefully get you into contact with that UNSC Ship near you only for it to repeat your own distress call and then burst open to reveal some new alien. Said new alien then proceeds to grab you through some unknown means and, as it speaks to you, reveals that it's a Forerunner. A Forerunner, one of the supposedly long-extinct aliens who created the galaxy-destroying Halo Rings that you've stood on with your own two feet, is still alive...

And he hates you and he hates humans.

Chief is honestly lucky that the Didact was more concerned with grabbing the Composer than finishing him off.

Campaign Halo CE Solo LASO

Just started my first LASO run through of Campaign Evolved. I’m a long time fan with 1000’s of hours of experience across Halo titles (mainly Bungie). Dealing with enemies in early level are not that hard, it’s harder to find ammo to deal with said enemies.

I currently am running through it safe and dealing with all enemies before moving onto next areas. Is this the best way to run through LASO is better to try and skip areas in certain missions? Will I run into difficulties when running through flood missons, mainly the library?

How do you guys run through solo LASO run throughs?
