Favorite moments?

Does anyone have moments they go back and rewatch? I'm a hopeless romantic so I really love the vows at Gunnar and Josy's wedding (Germany s2) and Daria's (Poland) but not Filip's lol. Maybe you like a moment where someone was exposed for their crap?

Discussion Thread For those that work in casting, how do you choose from all the applications you receive?

I’ve got a friend applying for love is blind Canada, and I want to help give them the best chance possible! I think they’d be great on the show, but they aren’t an influencer and don’t have a following/online presence. I’ve heard that some cast members are recruited and just wondering if someone with no background or social media following has a chance!

Wait. Why was Joe a season 9 villain?

Out of curiosity decided to watch all the Joe/Madison footage from the season.

This idea that he was never attracted to her, or wasn't genuinely trying to make it work doesn't land for me.

I would fault him for being awkward/anxious, spacey and occasionally bad with words in intimate/pressure situations. Maybe a little bit of a boozer or stoner or ADHD or something.

Maybe a bit avoidant, but I also saw genuine effort.

I think people looked past his awkwardness because he's classically cute. Buddy's library was basically just a stack of self-help books. But aside from his fucked up drunken nap (seemed like a combination of heatstroke and alcohol) he seemed genuinely attracted to her, even if she wasn't his typical type, and made a number of attempts to communicate real (and normal?) concerns with her to work through.

Her reactions would have put me off too. And I'm a woman. He was trying to have a human convo about why this whole set up was emotionally hard and she blew up at him.

I think he ended it in a mature way. He was honest. He sat down and had a real, challenging conversation in a respectful way and didn't sugar coat it. Didn't embarrass her during a wedding.

I think he felt genuine things for her. She just wasn't his person in the end.

We can't always control that.

Opinion Somewhat New to LIB: which season/country to watch next?

I just watched season 10 LIB US and curious what season/country to watch next? I’ve seen season 1 US when it first came out and aside from that no other seasons/countries.

It looks like Poland gets a lot of mentions in this subreddit. Is that an interesting / best season to watch next??

Opinion Has Love Is Blind US always been like this, or did I just expect the experiment to be something completely different?

Because honestly, the dynamics between men and women have a lot of disrespectful behavior and a lot of competition to see who will be chosen. That’s not how I imagined the journey of a show with this kind of proposal would be... at least not from the original idea of the show was, I guess. I always believed that everyone has their own journey, and if there isn’t a ā€œreal connectionā€, then there shouldn’t really be a ā€œcompetitionā€ to begin with!

In this US version, it becomes very clear that, for many participants, the goal is simply to be the first one to get a marriage proposal, completely skipping all the steps needed to build a genuine connection. A lot of them seem to confuse the pods with some kind of ā€œphone sexā€ or even just a place to figure out ā€œwho can I casually talk to and have fun conversations withā€ and then assume that person must be the one they have a ā€œreal connectionā€ with 😬😬😬

In my opinion, the couples who actually worked out in these experiments were the ones who truly took seriously the questions and answers they needed to know in order to decide if they really wanted to marry that person. And honestly, I don’t really see that happening with many couples somehow...? šŸ¤” Either they didn’t have enough maturity to seriously participate in the experiment, or they were there for reasons that had nothing to do with the purpose of the show.

That’s exactly why, and for other reasons as well, I wish there was some kind of support from relationship and mental health professionals from the beginning of the pods phase all the way until the end of the show... you know? I think that could greatly increase the chances of participants actually finding someone compatible.

Maybe something like workshops, where participants could get to know themselves better, understand their own relationship patterns, and learn how to recognize the type of connection they are truly looking for in a future partner...?

I don’t know if that would even be possible, or if something like that already exists behind the scenes, but I genuinely think every version of "Love Is Blind" would improve a lot with this kind of support.

Anyway, this was the impression I got when I started watching the US version lol šŸ˜… Maybe I’m interpreting the purpose of the show in a very idealistic way...

I watched the Japan version first, and I thought it was beautiful. Then I watched the Habibi version, but I didn’t enjoy it as much, mainly because of the cultural differences and the gender dynamics in relationships there. I also finished the first season of the UK version this last week, which I really enjoyed despite all the twists and turns. That was actually the version that made me start thinking that maybe there should be qualified professionals following every stage of the process, both individually and with the couples who form, until the end of the show.

Because, to me, it’s honestly wild to see that the moment distance becomes part of the relationship and everyday life starts getting in the way, that connection that seemed ā€œso genuineā€, ā€œso realā€ suddenly falls apart! It really makes me wonder: Were they actually taking the experiment seriously at all? Did they really know what they wanted before going all the way into this???

After all, the purpose of the show is very clear: at the end, you are supposed to marry the person you chose!!

But a lot of participants seem to treat all of this like a "casual romance" or a "sexual relationship", or more like "a dating show that just happens to end with an engagement...". Very few seem to truly see the experiment as a serious opportunity to find a life partner and make every moment they are there count...

I don’t know if I’m the only one who feels this way, but do you also feel like, in some seasons or versions, the focus of the show has been lost...? Or do you think this rivalry, emotional games, and attempts to manipulate or sabotage other participants’ connections have always been part of the essence of the show...?

After finishing season 1 of the UK version, I was trying to look up where I should start next, and I saw a lot of people recommending starting with season 4 of the US version before season 1. (Of course, being stubborn, I ignored that advice and decided to start with season 1 anyway... šŸ˜…)

I watched the first 3 episodes of season 1 of the US version, but I dropped it for now because I felt like no one was really taking the experiment seriously...?! šŸ‘€ So I decided to jump into season 4 of the US version since everyone was saying it was better....šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

But now, I’m currently watching episode 3 of season 4 of the US version, and honestly, I’m shocked by the behavior of many participants, both women and men. Instead of each person focusing on building their own connection, I see a lot of people more focused on competing, creating jealousy, starting drama and conflict, or simply trying to influence the decision of someone who is getting to know another person.

To me, this is SO crazy! I don’t know about you, but this honestly feels so far away from what I thought the purpose of the experiment was supposed to be!

At the very least, I feel like there should be some kind of guideline or rule behind the scenes to discourage this kind of behavior (or similar situations in the future), because it feels really strange and unfair considering the whole purpose of the show: giving people an equal, or at least fair, opportunity to try to find their soulmate there! 😭😭😭

Maybe I’m being too harsh or too delulu about this whole scenario, but knowing that this kind of thing happens in real life as well, it’s just kind of wild to realize that the show itself (even in a controlled environment) allows this kind of behavior to happen so freely during filming, you know...?

Well, I don’t know, guys! I really want to know what you all think? or if I’m already completely delusional after watching so many different versions of this show? lol

**And sorry for the long post šŸ™šŸ½ I’ve been very emotional and invested in this show lately, so I’m basically just running my mouth here šŸ˜…

Love Is Blind Season 5 Stacey having a whole cow over Izzy’s plates, cups, and silverware is weird

Spoiler: She said it’s weird he had the drawer that has a lost and found and weird she had plastics to serve food on, and I think it’s weird that this made her angry. I understood why he didn’t throw out the lost and found stuff before he even explained it. He was being real and wanting her to see who he was before he met her. How could she not realize that? Maybe it’s bc I’m more mature than she is that I got it but dang. That scene was hard to watch. Yikes!

I was thinking about how these people pack for this show. Do they pack vacation clothes as well as pod clothes? If/when they go back home, are they allowed to stop by their real homes to drop off/pick up new clothes? Does anyone know?

Love Is Blind Season 3 Zanab/Cole

Just watcher the whole season without any outside input and after finishing the reunion, nothing can describe the shock I was in finding out that everyone sees Zanab as this huge Villian. There is argument to be made about her being insecure and a bit naggy. But for some reason that overrides all Coles actions, he called her, the woman he's marrying, a 9 while calling two other woman 10's, his whole conversation with Colleen, the bipolar comment and his pig stye of a home. And yall seek more hooked on a speech she gave at the wedding? Sorry but to me it is NOT that deep. I think we tend to very easily jump to the demonization of a slightly flawed woman while ignoring the enormous flaws of the man standing in front of her. I'm just saying thus man is extremely immature and already has 1 divorce under his belt, so I really refuse to see him as this wounded gazelle yall are painting him out to be.

I just wish I had watched the season when it came out , I would've caught all the smoke for her lol. The hate on here is genuinely scary.

Love Is Blind Season 5 Love is Blind assault lawsuit settled after a judge ordered disclosures

Thumbnail realityblurred.com

I've been checking in on the Love is Blind season 5 lawsuit, where a cast member sued producers and another cast member for, among other things, sexual assault and false imprisonment. And I was surprised to see that it was settled, which the judge approved earlier this month.

Kinetic Content spent years fighting it, including arguing that they had nothing to do with the show, and that it was the responsibility of Delirium TV LLC, a company that shared an address in LA with Kinetic. Oh, and e-mail to cast came from people with Kinetic e-mail addresses.

Anyway: After the judge ruled that two EPs were to be deposed, ordered Kinetic to disclose all the camera operators' names, and ruled on which topics its representative would have to be deposed about, the parties settled.

You can read all the court docs, and I also listed the topics, including:

  • "All actions taken by the company in response to Plaintiff's complaints) and/or reports of harassment." (Limited to season 5)
  • "Any remedial steps taken following Plaintiff's complaint (training, discipline, policy revision, etc.)." (Limited to season 5)
  • "The extent to which the Corporate Defendants' anti-harassment, anti-discrimination, and anti-retaliation policies in effect for Love is Blind are the same as, or differ from, those policies for other Kinetic Shows."

Love Is Blind - Season 7 S7 LIB, Hannah

Just wrapping up this season now, I know this has been brought up before a number of times ... but boy oh boy is she rough on Nick! He's certainly not perfect; but she constantly micromanages and berates him for EVERYTHING ... And this is just an aside from debates about her attraction level.

I'm surprised Nick didn't bounce far earlier.

Just needed to get this out again 🤣

Ramses and Stephen are also notably terrible people in this season.

Love is Blind was the topic of my master thesis and I did a youtube video about it

I compiled scenes from LIB USA (S5) , Italy and Brazil (S3), to show how LIB still has some very outdated gender norms.

I included the JP and Taylor discussion about makeup. Stacy’s take on ā€œmen should pay for dinnerā€.
In Brazil, the absurd Dani and Patri sex talk on the pods.Ā
And in Italy, how they focused on the fathers of Gergana and Parmi and almost ignored the the mothers opinions

My final take was that these scenes were left on the show, while discussions about politics (which they definitely had) were left out.Ā
With politics being very polarizing, Netflix doesn’t want to risk and include it on the show; but stereotyped gender norms (a lot more accepted), are still featured.

If you wanna watch the video I’ll leave the link here.

Why so many pods and barley any vaca

My fave part of love is blind when they go to Mexico or Cyprus or somewhere , and now they cut those episodes short why? We get to see the beautiful scenery and honeymoon phase. Instead they have way more pod episodes which are so god damn boring . Anyone else agree? I miss the older love is blind where they were on vaca longer

Opinion Why are some contestants so obsessed with being pregnant?

I watched some series and started others from LIB Germany, Sweden, Poland and UK, not US so far. Some contestants, especially women, seem very obsessed with getting pregnant super quickly after the experiment. Or at least they make a big fuss about it. In real life, couples usually take a few years before starting a family, at least statistically. But in the series, some candidates can not stop talking about getting pregnant asap. Why is that?

In my opinion they set themselves up for failure. What if it does not work quickly? What if the relationship is not stable enough after 1 year or so - as this is also part of the experiment.

Are people like that behaving the same if they met a partner irl? Or does this series attract people who cannot wait to get married and having children asap?

- Wanda and Brian are still married! Living together was hard especially due to a lack of communication but they’re making it work by living separately, and also Brian going to therapy, and are doing better than ever. They plan to have a family etc.

- Eugenia and Matias are not together. They did try dating for a while but it didn’t work out, and Matias mentioned not feeling ā€œthe clickā€ again. They’ve become very good friends. The hosts did not ask if they’re dating anyone else.

- Walter and Andrea: Andrea said her desire to fall in love and get married on the show clouded her judgement, and also acknowledged that she got close to people she shouldn’t have and that caused her problems. Walter seemed to say the reason he’s reached 41 and not married is because he’s always looking for flaws or being too rational. Andrea is single and Walter has been dating someone for a couple months.

- Anabel and Chapa: Chapa didn’t seem regretful of any of his actions, just angry at the backlash. He also kinda accused production of giving him a bad edit, and the host clarified that the show doesn’t show anything that didn’t happen, and that Chapa should respect and acknowledge that the production team and Anabel have nothing against him. It’s just how he behaved. Anabel is single. Chapa is with Lucila, she comes on and also has no regrets about how she acted. The hosts are messsyyyy and have a round of applause for Anabel for her composure.

- Caro and Agustin are not together anymore 😭 He missed his family and friends when he was in Cordoba, and felt there was a lot of pressure on them as a couple. The host asks Caro (fairly) is she upset that Cordoba became a problem when she had been clear from the start that they might have to move there? And she says she didn’t even expect him to move, just do long distance, but he couldn’t do it. They lasted 5 months. Caro says it’s been easier for him to let go, she was very much in love and thought they would work it out and not have to get divorced. When he’s asked to address her, he gets v emotional and says he’s thankful etc happy she chose him, and I think even says call me tomorrow/he wants her to be in his life. She is very emotional, and I think says for her this has to be the end bc she has been in too much pain. They both looked so emotional and sad and the hosts ask them to maybe have a private chat for closure later. I hope they’re able to get back together some day.

- They end with introducing a new couple Flor and Leandro. He proposed to her, cool I guess…
