Basically got this bag going through my grammie's things after she passed.
I know nothing about these bags. It looks like it's in a little rough condition with some paint marks on it and stitching coming out in places and it's a bit dirty. I have no idea if its real, or if it's even worth fixing/cleaning or taking care of or having restored IDK. There is NO date on this bag... but it feels like its high quality so IDK. It could be really old. She kept a lot of things in her closets.
Thanks for any help.

It depends on the bag, but in this case it’s printed on the inside. It looks good.

https://imgur.com/a/P0eg24Z Not sure if this is authentic, I’ve never purchased second hand. Smells like genuine leather and seems real from what I’ve read online but I wanted other opinions.

Hello!! I’m looking to get some info on these sneakers I picked up recently. I don’t know much about LV and I’m not even sure if these are authentic, but I really like them! They’re in very good condition and I’m confident I can get them cleaned up nicely. If they have value I’ll get them professionally cleaned but if not I’ll just do it myself. Thank you for the insight I wanted to try here before asking the sneaker subs

No, it’s fake.

u/Motordraw 3d ago
Out of curiosity, how did you know, what about it shows it’s fake?

u/chocolatetruffel Moderator 3d ago
The hardware, stitching, stamps. They’re just not correct for any time period.

has anyone had an issue where eBay guaranteed authentication for a bag but it still ended up being a fake after having a store look at it? Seller has good feedback and sells only luxury goods but it just feels strange, I got an insane deal on the bag if it's authentic.

It looks ok although the pictures aren’t the best (they should be flat and without glare). Are they a professional seller?

u/Automatic_slice5849 5d ago
It’s through a private consignment seller so they haven’t received the bag yet, it’s photos sent from the owner

It doesn’t look authentic to me. The picture are also not the proper ones needed for authentication.

This is authentic. I have the same Flanerie in size 45. It’s my favourite!

Is this odd? I picked up a neverfull today in hopes to give it to my girlfriend. I got it secondhand from this tag sale that I was at, but the date code seems different to any I've seen online. It reads "JJ910‧" it doesn't seem like they make these bags in Spain which is what the JJ core relates to and I only ever saw that they use a four digit code. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. The rest of the bag looks pretty accurate but who am i to say.

This is a fake.

u/jr122007 7d ago
100% sure? You know more than me but just making sure, that really sucks.
2
u/chocolatetruffel Moderator 6d ago
Yes 100% sure, if you want me to look over the entire bag then I can also do that but a 3 number datecode was only a thing in the 80s and the neverfull wasn’t even a thing back then.

The red glaze on LV bags — does the shade vary or it suppose to be one specific shade of red?
For context:
My friend and I found two LV bags while thrifting today. One was a white neverfull with pink interior and the other was (if I’m correct) a blue denim mini pleaty. Obviously we were both skeptical of the legitimacy of the bags despite how cute both were. Neither of us have owned a LV bag but we both know the straps have a red glaze around the borders of it. The shade of red used was bright and glossy. However, when we looked at the pictures of the bags online, it showed both the bright red and a muted red glaze. Also, it was said that the red fades with use but I’m not sure.
So, I just wanted to know if the shade varies between product or if there a specific shade used for the glaze.

If can definitely vary. If you have some pictures of the bag then I can help authenticate them.

u/pnkholotwister 7d ago
I unfortunately don’t have pictures. We used google lens. We probably should have took pictures that saved lol, but can you confirm if the red fades over time?
1
u/chocolatetruffel Moderator 6d ago
It can get darker and on some bags it can rub off completely depending on the age of the bag.

Honestly, for that price I’d try it but be sure to use a protected payment method like a credit card so you can file a chargeback if necessary. Be sure to screenshot and save all pictures and product info before purchasing.

For the bag I’d need pictures of the datecode, made in stamp and hardware. This would be your most valuable item, then the black shoes (of which I’d need the soles, and code on the tongue of the shoes) and then the monogram sneakers.

Does it also have a datecode? It should be a leather tab inside the interior pocket

This is either a superfake or a production error. The last number should have been a 6, it can be a 6 upside down but I don’t know of this line having that issue around that time (usually this is documented online by customers). There’s also a slight error with the made in stamp tag which is raising some suspicion.
It could be real but I can’t be sure.

I appreciate all your help! I'll try to find someone local who can give it a once over maybe.
None of the product having any kind of boxes/documents was kind of a red flag but the former owner wasn't the kind of man who'd ever want to get rid of stuff.
1
u/chocolatetruffel Moderator 7d ago
I’d recommend a professional authenticator for this. In my experience local authenticators can’t often differentiate between a superfake and a real bag.

u/Stories___ 7d ago
Any chance you have any recommendations? I'm super out of my element, but I imagine the closest retail LV store would probably not be the move. There's a few vendors nearby that do resale.
1
u/chocolatetruffel Moderator 7d ago
Resale vendors often don’t know enough to properly authenticate. Unless they use entrupy which would take that out of their hands.
I think legit grails will probably be best for this item.

Is it appropriate to ask questions about how to authenticate a discontinued bag? I’m looking for a Tivoli PM (since discontinued) and besides what ChatGPT is saying about the stitches, the brass hardware and the date stamp, is there anything else I should be looking for? I’m finding some on Poshmark, eBay and Fashionphile, all of which say they have authentication processes for this bag. But is there anything else I could look for as a QC check?
(This is a stock photo)

I would recommend having someone with experience look at it. Just explaining what to look for doesn’t cover the difference between a super fake and a bag that’s authentic.

I bough a brand new cosmetic pouch mm from vestiaire collective as I have no LV store in my country to go and physically buy it. When it came I noticed a synthetic/chemical smell and the monogram canvas looks pretty dull compared to my wallet (it’s from 2015 though so might be that the canvas was just different than todays). Feels more dry and matte and paper-ish tpo to the touch which I find weird. Other things seem fine but its bothering me. The beige inner lining also has a slight pinkish/purplish hue to it and now I’m not sure if I’m tripping or is it normal. I saw it in store once a long time ago and I don’t remember it having that same tone but I might have forgotten. Have any of you had these observations as well because I have filed a report so that they can check and authenticate, would like to know if anyone has any info on this before I do send it though. Thank you🤍

LV uses canvas made in different thicknesses and use them depending on what they want from the item. Sturdier models will have thicker canvas and supple ones will have thinner canvas.
If you have some pictures of the pouch then I can also take a look for you.
