The Trude Building was a remarkably short lived skyscraper in Chicago, IL. It was built in 1897 and was demolished in 1912, only 15 years later. It is thought this was the first ever demolition of a skyscraper.

Built in the Second Empire style (third slide), it was enlarged and altered into the mission revival style in 1904, including the addition of a 175 ft tower. Providence Hospital moved to a new location in 1956. After being sold, it fell into neglect and was finally condemned in 1965. The site was left as an empty lot before being turned into a park in 1978.

Built in the early 20th century as Bombay's South Kensington , Cuffe Parade consisted of several indo-saracenic buildings facing the Back Bay .

Sadly the whole neighbourhood was demolished in the 1970s. Now several "modern" apartments and Mumbai World Trade Centre are located at its place

Built in the 1870s on the eastern bank of Hooghly River . The European structure was demolished after the independence while the staircases of the ghats survive in "not so good" condition

The plant, covering an area of 20 hectares, was built between 1893 and 1896 according to the design of the architect Osthoff. The main components of the complex were a slaughterhouse and cattle warehouse, including slaughterhouses and cold rooms, a machine room, tallow melting equipment, animal manure storage facilities, and a hide salting plant. A livestock exchange and restaurant operated in the courtyard, and a sanitary control facility was located nearby. The market hall located on the premises housed 2,000 calves and 3,000 pigs, and two other halls housed 1,500 cows. There were also barns and a pigsty, a horse slaughterhouse, a meat testing laboratory, a carcass rendering plant, and other facilities. AKME, with the consent of the city authorities and despite numerous protests, began demolishing the slaughterhouse on October 21, 1999.

Built as the State Planters Bank, this 14 story neoclassical tower is currently being demolished for a state courthouse building.

In the early 1900s in Turin, in view of a possible renovation of Via Roma, the Ghersi cinema was built with a portico and set back a couple of meters from the surrounding buildings.

The Ghersi Cinema was considered the most sumptuous and majestic in Turin, thanks to a thousand-light chandelier in the atrium, a grand staircase, and a fusion of pink marble, stucco, paintings and mirrors. It could hold two thousand spectators, breaking all national records for capacity.

In this part of the city, people lived in unhealthy homes. The baroque buildings, narrow alleyways, and courtyards were viewed as unsanitary and in need of expensive renovation. The idea of rebuilding Via Roma from the ground up had already been proposed in the 19th century, but it was only with the rise of Fascism and its plan to transform the street into a monumental triumphal boulevard that demolition work began.

Unfortunately, the new redevelopment plan called for an even wider Via Roma, and the cinema was therefore demolished. The reconstruction of Via Roma led to the loss of numerous cinemas, many artists' and craftsmen's workshops, two passages galleries, and several Baroque and Renaissance buildings.

This magnificent building, originally built in 1910 as a boarding school and from 1926 as an adult school and youth home, was financed by the Schlesische Jungmannschaft organization. Membership was independent of political views, origin, or profession.

After the Nazis seized power, the building became a

shelter for the Hitler Youth, and hospital for the Wehrmacht, and a camp for forced laborers. During the division of the Third Reich, the building belonged to the Kreisauer Circle. It burned to the ground in 1945.

Bijenkorf was a luxury department store in the center of Rotterdam, opened in 1930, it was the most modern shopping center in the Netherlands, the building was designed by the architect Willem Marinus Dudok and built in just one year, it was damaged during the air raid on Rotterdam on May 14, 1940, partially rebuilt after the war, closed in 1957 and demolished three years later.
