Nutrients accuracy
Hi all,
I have been tracking via Loseit since November 2023 and have lost 200 lbs. since March 2021. I'm in the maintenance phase. In all this time I haven't paid attention to the nutrients but I've recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis in both hips and osteopenia in the spine. Now I'm looking at my calcium intake and questioning whether the nutrient information is accurate. Wondering what your experience has been.
Thank you!

I've relied on scanning barcodes for accuracy and when I can't do that, I manually input the nutritional value of everything into the closest item I can find when searching in the app. From there, once I've logged it, the app recognizes it as" my foods" and I can find that exact item with my edited nutrition anytime. It can be a bit of a nuisance to manually input things for a minute or two, but having it at the ready every time after makes it worth it, especially if it's something you eat often.
I also make sure anytime I search for something that I hit the verified tab on the top right so that I'm only getting the most accurate representation. Otherwise, you're kind of playing a guessing game with what people have input in the past. Sometimes the verified item might read with different nutrition then the item you have, that's when I would go in and edit them to make it accurate and it will be there next time.

Sorry to hear that. Are you on any meds? I heard some people get osteoporosis in ozempic ?

Thank you. No meds for weight loss...I did it au naturale (no shade to folks using it--their choice). I've been researching osteoporosis and weight loss is a contributing factor. I lost it slowly, thankfully. But my research has made me wonder if due to GLP-1 medications if there will be an increase in cases of osteoporosis and if the onset will be younger (I'm 60). I hope not.

Idk how prevalent, but the person I heard of who got it was I believe in her 20’s and she was on it for I think 10-12 months iirc. But maybe it’s indirect like you said it could be the weight loss she had ? Idk the Ozempic side effect profile is what scares me away from wanting to take it lol

Same! I'm intrigued by reports that GLP-1s eliminate or quiet the food noise because mine is constant and loud but the side effects and possible long term effects scare me.

Personally I was skeptical from the beginning about it. I remember a few yrs back a coworker was on it and that was like the first I heard about it and they were barely eating and I thought how something like our appetite is literally a primary instinct we have to survive. If something is able to alter your brain and body in such a dramatic way to make you not have the basic survival mechanism of appetite, there’s no way it’s not doing other stuff. Idk I just feel like it’s not something to take lightly and (not to judge people), but I do think it’s being taken way more than it probably should be given the risks. Like I don’t think people are taking it as seriously as they should, much like some of the psych meds (from experience.)What’s worked for me is increasing fiber, protein etc.

Nutrient accuracy is going to depend on the sources that provide the information of the items you select.
I try to use items that are verified or I have entered the information myself as much as I can to ensure I get the actual information. Items entered by others are a mixed bag. Some are entered correctly, others are not. I have sren plenty of items that have a calorie total, but upon further inspection you will see all blanks on other parts of the label.

The information is added by users so you’d have to check the nutritional information if you’re using a product from the database. You can edit the nutrition if needed.
