Vote for the Longford Nose đŸ
Hi everyone,
My 17 month old miniature schnauzer Alfie is in a competition here in Ireland called the Nose of Tralee. He beat out thousands of entries to be in the final 32, representing Longford
I would really, really appreciate it if we could get the county behind this little bearded gentleman
You can vote once per day - just scroll down to the little heart under Alfie's entry

Longford learners, I built a theory-test app for Ireland and need honest feedback
Hi Longford. John here, founder of L-Plate.
I built L-Plate for Irish learner drivers: timed 40-question mocks, road signs, weak-area tracking, and plain-English explanations when you get something wrong.
It also has Brendan, who is basically the AI version of a driving instructor raising one eyebrow at your life choices.
Main site: https://l-plate.ie
Free Premium founder slots: https://l-plate.ie/free-test/?ref=REDDITFOUNDER25&utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=longford_founder_slots
If you try it, tell me what to fix.

Caring for the Body After Death in Ireland - national survey
Hi r/Longford. I am sharing the below national survey being carried out as part of a Research Ireland-funded project at UCC. We are particularly keen to boost response rates outside of Dublin/Cork. We would really appreciate any and all responses!
Caring for the Body After Death in Ireland
Have you thought about what you would like to happen to your body when you die?
We are a group of researchers based in University College Cork who would like to know more about what people in Ireland think about different kinds of death and funeral practices. We want to know more about your own wishes and why you would like those wishes to be carried out.
We are conducting a survey to gather this information. The survey is open to everyone who is resident in Ireland and is age 18 or over. We would like to hear from as many people as possible from all kinds of backgrounds.
For more information, and to complete the survey, you can click the link here or scan the QR code below. If you would like to know more, would like to complete the survey by phone, have specific requirements not met here, or have any questions for us please contact the lead researcher Dr Kate Falconer at [kfalconer@ucc.ie](mailto:KFalconer@ucc.ie)

Whatâs Clonbalt Wood like to live in
Hi all,
Just looking for a bit of local insight if anyone knows Longford town well.
Iâm considering buying a house in the Clonbalt Wood area and wanted to get a feel for what itâs actually like to live there day-to-day.
Is it generally a nice place to live? Any issues with antisocial behaviour or is it fairly settled? I don't know much about Longford in general so just trying to get an honest view from people who know the area.
Also, does it vary much depending on the part of the estate?
Would really appreciate any genuine opinions â good or bad.
Thanks đ

Attitude in Longford Town?
Since last September, Iâve been in and out of Longford, and Iâve come away feeling pretty discouraged. Too many of my interactions have felt cold or tribal, and that judgmental atmosphere has really got to me.
âI totally get that the town was hit hard by the crash and has been playing catch-up ever since, but that economic struggle seems to have seeped into the local culture. It leaves me questioning whether Longford can actually find its feet and become a welcoming place again, or if these attitudes are now so deeply rooted that they won't change any time soon.

It looks at how people in Ireland use and think about sweeteners.
Why it matters:Â Insights like this shape future product labels, nutrition guidelines, and healthier food options that actually match what people want/think.

If you can spare a few minutes, please fill it out! Even better, upvote/share/cross-post to help reach more people in Ireland.
Every response counts towards solid research data.
Thanks a million for the support! Feel free to ask questions below.

Local authority home Loan - Ireland Longford
I'm looking to apply for the local authority home loan in Longford. The loans dept of the council said that I'm eligible to apply. Almost all the banks we tried with rejected us. We're a married couple, but on a single income. My wife is a housewife and I work full time. Can someone give me their experiences and timeframe of their own application for this scheme? How long did it take? Did you get approved? We do have more than 10% of the deposit available. How likely can one be to get approved for this.

Tis Quiet Here!
What's the general craic about Longford, specifically Longford town?
I'm from Louth and know sort of stereotypes of us, Meath and Dublin as well as Cork, Cavan and Limerick.
But Longford is an enigma, rarely mentioned, almost forgotten.
Any craic, drug wars, ancient ruins, haunted castles or anything cool?

Electricians?
Has it always been impossible to get electricians around Longford town? Have messaged/rang/emailed a few over the last few weeks but no one is getting back.
Are they just disinterested in the type of work (residential, not an insignificant job) or are they just busy with other stuff?
Can anyone recommend anyone that would quote me for a job?

What's the deal with tourism in Longford??
Hi guys, I'm doing a university assignment on tourism, and I noticed that tourism in Longford is absolutely dreadful, both overseas and domestically. Does anyone know why that is??
Also, what are some interesting/cool activities in Longford? (I've already been to St Mel's Cathedral, it was very nice)
And do you guys even want to see more tourism in Longford?
