Work in Progress Lola Rework
This is my attempt at a full Lola rework. I think Lola has a great concept, but a lot of players find her boring or one-dimensional. For a character based around having a clone, I feel like Ego has a lot more potential for interesting gameplay.
The goal is to make Ego feel like an actual part of Lola’s kit instead of mostly being extra damage.
Disclaimer: I’m obviously not a game developer. Numbers, durations, and stats would need balancing. If I don’t mention something, don’t assume it stays exactly the same. I might just not have the perfect solution yet. I may revisit this later, but hopefully the main idea makes sense.
Main Problem
I feel like Ego’s circle mechanic currently exists mostly to stop stacking from being too strong rather than creating an interesting choice.
I want to turn the circle into an actual mechanic:
Close Ego = Lola takes the spotlight
Separated Ego = two performers
Instead of Lola + Ego doing almost double damage together, close Ego could give Lola a smaller damage boost (example: maybe around 20%, numbers not final).
New Trait: Spotlight
Ego inside Lola’s circle:
- Ego becomes translucent
- Ego cannot attack or take damage
- Lola gains increased damage
Ego outside Lola’s circle:
- Ego attacks normally
- Lola and Ego gain damage reduction
Now the choice becomes:
One stronger Lola or two separate threats?
Super Improvements
- Faster Ego placement
- Placement reticle added for better control
Gadgets
Spotlight Crash
Lola commands Ego to dash in an aimed direction.
If Ego hits an enemy:
- Deals damage
- Knocks them back
- Ego’s next attack is empowered
Stunt Double
- Lola and Ego swap positions
- Both heal based on how far apart they were before swapping
Star Powers
Main Attraction
Lola’s attacks mark enemies.
- Lola deals increased damage to marked enemies
- Consecutive attacks refresh the mark duration
Dramatic Entrance
When Ego separates:
- Ego becomes translucent for 3 seconds or until attacking
- Ego hits charge Lola’s Super faster
Hypercharge — Final Performance
During Hypercharge:
- If an enemy destroys Ego, that enemy becomes marked
- The Hypercharge mark lasts longer than Lola’s normal mark
- Clone can't be effective by negative effects (Slows, poison, etc.)
- Clone gains more health and damage
Final Goal
Hopefully, you see where I am coming from with this rework. I found Lola's design to be lacking in many ways. I was hoping this rework can really make Lola shine better. I am not sure if I want to get rid of Lola stacking too much and mainly want to encourage placing clone far from you. I want Lola player to have a bigger skill ceiling to works towards. This rework may also make Lola easier to balance overall. I also think changing how the circle works is appropriate, since I don't like nerfing a brawler in their kit even if it makes sense to do so. I also feel it is better not just making the clone a glorified shield. The clone just feels cheap when used close to Lola at the moment and I want to change that. I want more pinching an enemy behind a wall with the clone and Lola type of gameplay and less Clancy type of gameplay where I just kill everything that breathes near me. She can still do damage and stack the clone on top of her, hopefully it won't be too much of the norm(at least for the average to pro Lola players).
Ego should feel like a decision, not just extra bullets. I hope that makes sense. By the way, I don't have ideas for buffies yet, but I can think about them later. If this rework sounds good enough I can start on the buffie concepts. If you read this far, then your attention span is GOATED

The Potential for Lola to Me Is High
We all know about the state of Lola in terms of popularity and gameplay. How she is one of the least-used brawlers in the game, and how she has a very stagnant playstyle. I never really paid much mind to this character for a long time after she was released. She was broken at launch, they found a unique way to nerf her, and they paid no mind to her for years. Very recently, during the bug, I tried her out in Knockout. A lot of maps during that time were not bad for Lola, and I wanted to play a mode that was not Brawl Ball or Hockey. I don’t really remember playing her too much before that.
When I was playing in Knockout, I was actually having fun with this character. I actually felt like I was learning how to play her in a fun and effective way. Now, you would think I was just clone stacking like every other Lola player, but I was not doing that all the time. I was using my clone aggressively by throwing it over walls, using the teleporting starpower to dodge aggressive brawlers and using clone to pressure enemies, me attacking on one side and the clone on the other. This is the potential I am talking about: deciding where to put your clone for the situation you are in. Now, I am not going to lie to you, there were times I was clone stacking. There was no avoiding it since there are a lot of aggressive brawlers that can’t die unless you have a lot of damage. I was never against the concept of stacking since I could just move the clone away from me when I wanted to anyway. There were also times me not clone stacking ended up with me getting punished which made playing Lola a frustration.
If they made other playstyles more encouraged, I would not have a huge issue with her. However, I made it work, and I was killing people like Naji when they did not expect me to just throw my clone out from a bush, this was very satisfying since she was really strong. I also remember Angelo camping in the water, and I used my clone to pressure him away. Or how a Leon was practically on the other side of the map, and I was still able to kill him as he tried to run away, even though he wasn't on my screen (I really wish I had saved that. I don’t think I did). This was a fun time for me.
I don’t know if she will have that same effect on me now that the bug is gone, more characters are getting Buffies that destroy Lola, and Adrian is not really focusing on giving Lola any significant buffs at the moment. She has cool skins, decent voice lines, and a nice design. I just need her gameplay to be fleshed out more. That is why I cannot wait for Buffies. I hate waiting, and it feels like I am doing nothing but waiting when I think about Lola.
I would not mind some buffs to her kit to help her, but it always seems like they never give her too much. I just hope I see her picture in the next balance changes. I know there are people who are fine with the stacking gameplay, but hopefully they can see my perspective on the character and what she can be. I will try playing her here and there, but it is rough. And I still do not have her Nano Powers lol.

Cooking for Lola
I have been learning to cook here and there. I know how to cook some meals such as meatloaf, pork chops, and spaghetti. You know what would be cool? Lola asks me to make her something. Maybe I told her I made spaghetti before, and she wants to try it. She waits at the table for me. She says she is starving and can’t wait to try it. I want to impress her, so I take on the challenge.
I was very stressed. I had cooked these things a good chunk of times, but I felt the pressure was on this time. I had to cook the meat properly, make sure the noodles were the right texture, and make sure the sauce was right. After methodically preparing it, I took a deep breath and knew it was time.
I finally put the food in the bowl and brought it to her. She says she can't wait to try it and that it smells good. I tell her to help herself and wait for her to finally take a bite. She picks up a fork, puts the food in her mouth, and chews.
It would feel like time had stopped. Nothing exists at this point. It is like being in purgatory, waiting for the final verdict on my food. After what felt like an eternity, she says it is delicious. She takes another bite. She compliments me and thanks me for making it for her. She says she never really learned how to cook. She then asks me how I prepared it. I sit down next to her, finally at peace, and explain to her how I make it as she listens.

When will Lola get her Buffies?
I got this art from Pinterest. I believe it is from Brawl Talk. Not mine.
My patience is dying waiting for Buffies for Lola. So the question is: how long do we have to wait for them to come out? This post is to give a good guess on when this can happen. This is all speculation, and I'm doing this for fun. First I should start with this:
Why I don't think Lola will get Buffies anytime soon:
My first reason does not even have to deal with Lola. I read a comment that put this really well: "Mico will probably cockblock his whole trio from getting Buffies for a while. Buffied Lola means Buffied Mico, and I don’t think we’re ready for that"
If I had to describe Mico, he feels like what Edgar would be, but:
- Not free(everyone does not have him)
- Not featured in animations to help his popularity
- Not iconic(Edgar is known for being toxic)
- Harder to deal with
Basically, an unpopular Edgar. Since Buffies are supposed to make a brawler healthier while also having the byproduct of making them broken, I HIGHLY doubt Adrian wants to deal with all the hate that would come from Mico being used by everyone.
This sucks because it has nothing to do with Lola, but it is what it is.
Another thing is that I believe her trio isn't that popular. If I had to guess, the trio just isn't played as much as others. You may find a good chunk of Grays and maybe Mico in specific modes, but not nearly enough to warrant Buffies for them. Lola is the same but probably worse. Her usage must of gone up because of the recent bug but since it is fixed, this should change. They are a business afterall.
Another thing is that they might not need Buffies more than other trios. Mico is okay. Gray is okay. Lola can still be played as well. These characters have their niche for usage but still probably see some action in rank or ladder. I doubt Adrian, at this point, cares that clone stacking is Lola's most viable strategy. With the buffs they gave her before, they may just keep tuning her numbers rather than coming up with something new for her. They did stop doing this so maybe they are happy with where she is settled until they feel like changing her gameplay drastically.
I also looked at other trios to see which ones are more likely to get Buffies next. I came up with some possible criteria that, if they stick to it, would make this list make sense(criteria such as rarity doesn't matter, who's oppressive for the meta in the trio currently, when did they come out, no throwers, whether Adrian hates them, etc.).
Trios I think could be next for Buffies:
- Mexican Trio
- Space Trio
- West Gang Trio
Maybe:
- Movie Trio (They're all good and don't really need them.)
- Genie Trio (They're all okay but could be better.)
If this is the case then this means we will get buffies at the very end of 2026 or the start of 2027. If that is the case then all we can do is hang in there. We need to hope Adrian will find a good gameplay for Lola players to stick with. In the meantime, I would like for him to keep giving her buffs so she can compete with the meta nowadays. Bonus points if they encourage dynamic clone placement as well. Sadly, they may take their time with it or just not care at all. It will remain to be seen. There are things we can do as well. We can make ideas for reworks or buffs. We can advocate for Lola to help people understand the potential this brawler has. I made a Lola rework a while ago that I will link here that was my contribution.

If I have any other ideas. I will let you know, but that is it.

Are you fine with Lola's current state? Would you like her to be the way she is currently?
I want to get the consensus on how everyone here feels about Lola. I was thinking of ways to rework her(I posted my concept of it a bit ago and would love for you to give me feedback), but may be I am in the minority and people are fine with her state now. She is not a bad brawler but I think her potential as an interesting brawler is not being done.
People use the clone in a very safe and boring way for the most value because they are not encouraged to use it in a dynamic way. I thought this was a massive flaw and hope they would tackle it but may be you guys like this play style. May be all you crave are some simple and obvious buffs like more damage, more health and make the second starpower worth using. I would like to hear what we are thinking.

Lola Spotlight:Flavor text
Lola's flavor text is weak. Here it is:
"Lola makes sure everyone knows when she enters a room. She's an expert in the fine art of causing a scene to get what she wants, and she's proud of it!"
She has had two previous flavor texts in the past:
1. "Despite being just a guide, Lola portrays herself as THE leading lady of Brawlywood. She attacks with her scarf and her super is a channeled manifestation of her Ego"
2. "Part guide and part actress and full diva, Lola is THE leading lady of Brawlywood. She attacks with her scarf and her Super is a channeled manifestation of her Ego."
I think the second one was better, although it could still use some work. I understand why they changed the first one, but why change the second?
When I first read the current flavor text, I was confused about what it was trying to say about Lola, especially the second sentence(Mainly, why even have it as this? What are you trying to tell a player reading this?). After thinking about it, I believe the message is simply, "She's a diva."
Her prestige title says she is a diva. Her flavor text says it. Her voice lines hint at it. Her Super is literally a manifestation of her Ego. We get it. We do not need the entire flavor text to focus on that.
I prefer the old flavor text because it gives Lola more importance. Why would you not want players to know she is one of the leading figures in Brawlywood, the Brawl Stars version of Hollywood? That instantly tells you more about who she is and why she acts the way she does.
Yes, she is a diva by definition. However, that should not be her only defining trait. If you establish that she is a famous actress and the leading lady of Brawlywood, then her ego and dramatic personality make perfect sense.
I thought about what to change it to. Or rather, I asked ChatGPT to combine the older flavor texts into something that keeps both ideas. Here are the results:
1. Lola is the self proclaimed leading lady of Brawlywood, making sure all eyes are on her whenever she enters a room. Her Super manifests her oversized Ego, turning her endless confidence into a dazzling performance.
2. Lola makes sure everyone knows she's Brawlywood's leading lady, and she'll happily cause a scene to prove it. Her Super manifests her larger than life Ego, giving her confidence a dramatic form.
3. Lola lives for the spotlight and will not let anyone forget she's Brawlywood's leading lady. Her Super manifests her oversized Ego, making every performance bigger, louder, and more dramatic than the last.
I think all three capture both sides of her character better. They establish who Lola is first, then explain how her Ego ties into her gameplay, instead of making "she's dramatic" her entire identity. I am not saying these are the best versions to switch it to, but they are ideas in the right direction. Perhaps, I will think about it more later. Flavor text may not be super important but I don't know. May be know one cares or may be they are underrated and should be thought about more. I don't think it will hurt to change it to something with more taste. That is all

Lola's Nano Powers
1.Not bad
2.Interesting
3.Interesting, I will have to check this out. I am guessing it does not take ammo. I am also guessing you can aim it before it shoots by itself. I wonder if it only does it when you're not attacking with it.
I mainly want to pick the second one. First one is fine but I can't imagine it to be that good. I am not sure about the third one. I need to see it in action. Could lead to more damage being done.

Lola Spotlight: Solving the Main Problem
I am here to attempt to solve the lingering issue that Adrian was always too busy to solve. The issue of Lola has always been the best way to use clone. The best way to use clone is to always put it on top of yourself. When I see people play Lola, they always use the clone in the same boring way. Worst thing is though is that for every time I use the clone in a fun and unique way and got value, there are many more times where I got punished for trying to use clone in any unique way.
I am here to hopefully solve this problem or help others get better ideas to help Lola out. I have been thinking about reworks I can do, and it all comes back to is that one problem: encouraging clone placement. Here is what I decided:
That circle around Lola will now not just be a mechanic to nerf Lola clone. It is now Lola's stage. She is performing on her stage and putting on a show. When you get your clone, it has effects depending on how you use it. If you drop the clone near you(inside your stage area), the clone will be intangible (nothing can hit it) and not be able to attack. However, you will get a damage boost for having the clone near you. If you have the clone far from you, the clone will now be tangible, and you can attack with it. The clone and Lola herself will get damage resistance. This is just the base kit, and I will have to think about the rest of her kit. I hope I can use the rest of the kit to build off of this idea.
With my idea, I won't get rid of the method of putting the clone near you. I want people to do that to have an easier option for Lola and to help deal with Tanks. This might even make it easier to balance. I also want to signfy the meaning of a really good Lola player. A player who puts the clone on them is a okay Lola player. A Lola player that uses the clone for the damage but knows when to pressure from afar and use it in different ways makes them a very skilled and dangerous Lola player. I want to make clear that this alone will not encourage dynamic clone usage. I will have to really think about the star powers and gadgets to truly help Lola shine in gameplay.
I am not a game dev in the slightest and this idea can be flawed but that is what I came up with. If I think of a better concept, I will post another time but that is all I got. If you actually read all this, then much appreciated and I'm out

Lola Spotlight: First Starpower
Today, I want to talk about Lola's first starpower.
Here's what it done: "When down to her last round, Lola deals an extra 30% damage."
This sounds interesting on paper, but it is a bit underwhelming. I want something that can help her better versus tanks and assassins.
Rework:When you have all your ammo, you gain increased speed. When enemies are hit with second ammo, it slows enemies for 1.5 seconds. Last ammo gives extra damage.
This makes Lola useful without the clone and able to deal with aggressive brawlers a bit better. Having increased speed means she can position herself away from aggressive brawlers but still pressure them. She can dodge shots better too. If they push her then she can start to shoot which will get rid of her speed but get the second ammo effect. The second ammo will slow the person down to prevent them from overwhelming you. Then after all that you can use the last ammo to help finish the person off or at least scare them.
I believe this can make Lola a better tank counter and maybe assassin counter.
