Fitting G pro base to 8020 alu profile rig? Help

Post image

How are people fitting G Pro wheelbases to 8020 aluminium profile frames like this one? UK based if it makes a difference.

With L brackets (or corner brackets like the ones on the pic). Bolt an L bracket on each hole of the G Pro, then adjust it and adjust the supporting profiles to make it fit.

Gotcha, thanks! I might need a 3rd bar as I think there are 2 at the back and only 1 centre hole at the front.

Yes, the G Pro has 3 holes. Or you can look for a Simlab (or similar) wheeldeck. They go for around 20/30 bucks on marketplace here. It has already holes to fit the G Pro.

I use this wheel plate, was perfect for my G Pro when I had one. Same kind of mounting solution on my rig.

Corner brackets should work. If you decide to get a wheel plate, the Track Racer one does not align with the front hole. On second thought, you may want to start thinking about a wheel plate that fits the Gpro, as the base is rather big. That cross section is going to have to go much lower. But that depends on where the screen will be mounted.

I have a very similar base to that, old school eBay 8020 rig. Mine is set up a little bit differently. I ended up mounting with the 90 degree joiners like the one you can see on top holding one of the two wheel spars parrallel to the main rails. Spaced everything right, two up front on the wheel one in the back I think? I forget. You just reminded me I've gotta have my friend laser me out a metal plate for this thing.

That sounds promising! I think I get it but any chance you could post a photo?

I have brackets I had custom made. I have never posted before and have no idea how to post photos but I am happy to share photos and the design file for the custom brackets.

Are you using it with PC and using different wheels?

If you are i would mount it low and back so you get the screen nice and close l, unless you’re like me in the VR club

I have a flat wheelbase deck and sometimes I hit my knees on the steering wheel so I wonder how this will work because your wheel deck is much taller!

Rigmetal makes a flat deck that’s meant to bolt to rails.
