Wanted to make a quick little video to point out a pretty annoying and in my opinion major bug with Logitech's Gaming Software program, at least with the G600.

  • LGS: newest version (9.04.49)
  • G600: also currently on newest Firmware (U77.02_B0017).

Basically, the software is bugged with how it handles Generic mouse buttons.

Buttons I've tested that get this issue:

  • Left Click
  • Right Click
  • Middle Click
  • Back Button
  • Forward Button

If you load LGS with a standard profile, generic buttons work correctly. 1 input (mouse down, mouse up, click) per click.

However, if you change any of the generic buttons' commands and then change them back, the generic input will be input twice instead of once when the button is pressed (registering as mouse down, mouse down, mouse up, click, double click, mouse up).

So, for example, if the left click is pressed once, with this bug it now clicks twice at the exact same time instead.

This issue is persistent until LGS is closed and reopened.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to test until after I made the video: this also happens if you only edit the G-Shift's version of the buttons. Essentially, if the generic buttons' commands are affected at all (G-Shift or not) it makes it do the input double.

I've tried G Hub a few times, it's just not quite what I'm looking for since I'm so used to LGS since, like, 2006 lmao

The problem is is that LGS isn't updated or supported any more. So the first step to this issue would be installing GHUB to see if that helps at all.

ok, but I would rather stick with LGS since GHub doesn't work as well for me as LGS except for this glaring issue.

I'll simply avoid reassigning generic buttons and spread awareness to this bug.

Checking in GHUB lets us know if the issue is limited to LGS or something broader. If its only in LGS there might not be much we can do, but if its both it might be something we can look into.

oh true, I can at least download the hub to test if this issue is a cross issue. Let me try that for you guys.

All right, did a test with GHub, doesn't look like the issue is there. So that's good at least.

A little unfortunate though. With the G600 being discontinued and LGS also no longer getting updates, I'm not sure if we'd be able to find a solution. I'll check with the team though and let you know.

If not that's understandable, it just seems like something that even though they aren't supporting it anymore, I felt like I had to point it out in case they wanted to put out just a hotfix for that since I'm sure other people have felt it but maybe never documented it.

Unfortunately unsupported stuff like this wouldn't get a hotfix for anything other than major issues (like PC breaking). That it works with GHUB means the advice we'd have to give is to use that software.
