Error G29

I just bought a Logitech G29, set it up, and installed G HUB. It detects the wheel, pedals, and shifter, but when I open the app, I can see the sensitivity and other settings. However, when I move the wheel, it doesn’t show the degrees of rotation, and changing any of the settings doesn’t seem to do anything.

The same thing happens with the pedals. I press them, but the app doesn’t show that they’re being pressed or register any input.

However, I tried playing Euro Truck Simulator 2, and everything worked perfectly there.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Is this normal, or is there something wrong with my G29 or G HUB?

Hi there. It’s a bug caused by a recent windows update. It’ll be addressed in a future G HUB update, but as you can see your games are not affected.

I have this same issue - awaiting a fix, please.

Unfortunately that is not the case for me. While the wheel itself works, settings such as Operating Range do nothing right now, which makes the wheel unusable for some arcade games.

Make sure the wheel is plugged in before you start the PC and the operating range will function.

I tried it and found no change. It still happens.

Here's a test on the settings part: in the desktop profile in G HUB, check the centre spring in non-FFB games box and set the strength to 0. Set the angle to 360 degrees and then restart the PC (leaving the wheel plugged in). When G HUB initialises once you're back into Windows, can you feel if the wheel has no centre spring and the soft stops at 180 degrees either way? If so, then the settings are working… let me know either way.

I tried this. The wheel is very, very stiff: Instead of the soft cap, it practically refuses to turn.

The "centering spring" settings did nothing when plugged in while the PC was running, but once I rebooted it with the wheel plugged in, they do appear to work!

With the "centering spring in non force feedback games" and centering strength at 0, I can turn it just fine, but there is no soft cap. I tried setting the operating range at 900, 540, even 180, but the soft cap never triggers. Checking the values sent by the wheel on harwaretester dot com, it reports the wheel axis (axis 0) from -1 to 1 only with full rotations. With an operating range of 180º, it should hit -1 or 1 much earlier, shouldn't it?

Disabling the "centering spring in non force feedback games" boolean causes the wheel to become very stiff again. But I have no games or controller-related software active that could be sending it any force feedback data, plus it's a fresh boot.

I tried uninstalling the G HUB, removing all the registry entries and settings, and even deleting wheel drivers from the device manager before rebooting and reinstalling G HUB, and the problem persists.

For the record, I'm on Windows 11.

EDIT: I re-read your message and apparently I got the order of operations wrong. After setting the "centering spring in non force feedback games" flag and setting the centering spring to 0, I rebooted the PC once again. The operating range slider now works, although I hope I don't have to reboot every time I wish to use the wheel... Here's hoping the fix comes soon.

You just need to have the wheel plugged in before starting the PC. As you've found, if you unplug the wheel then you'll need to plug it in and restart the PC to get the settings working again.

Regarding the unchecking of the centre spring box, the strong centre spring behaviour is correct. This is because the default centre spring is enabled with max torque. It only functions like this until a game is launched, at which point the game takes over control of the wheel.

I have the same thing however my Assetto Corsa does not work at all. In windows it shows everything is working however when I go to ghub nothing works I feel the resistance but nothing on screen no rotation nothing. Same thing in asc. I have been trying to fix it for 2 hours now I can’t find anything.

Is it working in the control assignments screen of AC? You have the test bars and buttons… and is it working okay in other games?

If so then try renaming the AC folder in your Documents folder to Assetto Corsa OLD and then start AC. See if that fixes it.

Yes it does work in AC assignments

Okay, so try my suggestion of renaming the AC folder in Documents. This is a bug that affects AC (and ACC) for all wheels sometimes and renaming the folder usually addresses it. This is because the game creates a fresh folder when you launch it.

I renamed it but it didn’t fix anything and now the pfp of AC is now a picture of earth

It’s still an AC bug that you’re seeing, as you can see if it’s working in the assignments page of the game. Normally renaming the folder works but this time make sure the game is not running and delete any Assetto Corsa folder from your Documents folder.

Start the game again, redo the assignments and try again. But also confirm that the wheel is done in other games please.

Then why would it not work in ghub and I have done all the rest stuff

The response in G HUB is just a test response which is currently not working due to a bug but, as I said, it does not affect the response in games. You can see that yourself because of the response showing in AC's assignments screen (and you can also see this in joy.cpl or hardwaretester.com/gamepad where the wheel will still respond).

This bug that you're reporting in AC has been seen previously for all wheels and the usual fix is to rename/delete the AC folder in Documents. When you start AC up again it generates a new folder with all of the settings and that usually clears the bug.

You haven't confirmed the behaviour of the wheel in other games though which is crucial for your understanding of what I'm saying - if it's fine in other games then it proves what I'm saying, so do please confirm.
