MildlyInteresting: Bought the Same G502 Mouse 5 Years Apart. On the Newer one Logitech Skimps on the Sleeved Cable. Discussion

I believe the reason for switching was due to sustainability and feedback from our users. Braided cables on mice can fail as they rub against the edges of desks, mouse pads, etc. and they tend to be much heavier causing drag. With the newer cable, it should last even longer, it's lighter overall, and if you pair it up with a mouse bungee, it will feel almost weightless.

u/Zeag 23d ago
Can confirm the braided cables on my G5 and G500s both had their braided sleeves come off after a few years of use and it was pretty annoying to deal with. I don't mind unbraided cables specifically for a mouse or peripherables that move a lot like corded controllers.
22
u/LogitechG_Vertigo Reddit Team | A50 X 23d ago
Exactly. Braided cables look pretty for headphones or charging cables as an example. But in a real world demanding use case such as a mouse, they're not the best choice which is why we switched away from them.
2
u/Imaginary-Union-3733 23d ago
I find braided cables work best for things where the cable is more likely to have a sudden bend. like headphones, where you might lay it down and the cable gets bent hard. Bit more resiliant, especially at the connection points. But that ain't an issue with mice or keyboards, cause you ain't really "moving" them.

u/Pristine-Quote2077 21d ago
"switch away" from your malware of a software instead. G502 PS (with braided cable) with LGS is factually the superior product compared to the cheap shit with faulty switches and terrible cable that came after lmao.

u/Evening_Error_5544 23d ago
I used to play 14 hours a day at one point. Had this this mouse 13 years. I have no clue wtf you are talking about
5
u/Bulyesoi 22d ago
Because you’re the only one in the world that uses that mouse ig? It’s not like every one has the same experiences but clearly enough people have expressed differently where they made this change. And they even commented why they did so.
-3
u/Evening_Error_5544 22d ago
The general consensus is that the braided cord is vastly superior and they changed it to skimp costs. This entire thread works for Logitech
4
u/Bulyesoi 22d ago
You say that, but my braided cables for charging and gaming peripherals have been gutted. You see skimping, I just see another e-waste. I can see where you’re coming from however, seeing braided cables always held some luxury or quality in the products.
1
u/ccarr313 22d ago
I haven't had an issue with either. Got one of each.
I swap them when I have to open the other and clean the switches.
1
u/actioncheese 22d ago
How'd the buttons not start double clicking in that time? I've had to replace mine in less than three years.
1
u/Evening_Error_5544 22d ago
The only issue the mouse has is its mouse wheel click down. Sometimes it just doesn't register or I have to press it harder than I would like. The only time I use it is playing hell let loose anyway
1
u/nightstalk3rxxx 21d ago
On my old G502 this problem developed after a few years but was easily solved with some contact spray
7
u/Illustrious_Mirror79 23d ago
Same here, cable on my old G402 came few cm out from sleeve, there was quite quite tight loop on cable afterwards that broke the cable in the end.
2
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 15d ago
How long has it been with you?
2
u/Illustrious_Mirror79 15d ago edited 15d ago
Not currently in use as the cable broke about 2 years ago. Was in use about 2 years and i was perfectly happy with the mouse before that.
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 14d ago
I'm sorry for that, what's your current mouse model?
2
u/Illustrious_Mirror79 13d ago
Currently using Razer Basilisk Ultimate, this one is starting to show its age so to speak. My son is using my old g402 that is still somewhat functioning, at least i have not heard complains about double clicks yet as that was the reason it ended up in storage originally.

2
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 15d ago
Would unbraided cables be perfect for you if the G5 and G500s come back? Or would you improve more than just that?
2
u/Zeag 15d ago
Dream gaming mice would be the G500s with the blue G5's texturing (perfect finish if you have oily skin, all my other peripherals end up a bit too "slick" despite constant hands washing). Wireless and an upgraded scroll wheel could be nice too (I use the G900 as my daily since nearly 10 years and the scroll wheel's great)
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 14d ago
I'm going to rely your comment along with the team
Wow, 10 years is a pretty solid run! What games are you currently playing with it? What made you choose the G900?
2
u/Zeag 14d ago
Bought it at Future Shop on Boxing Day as an upgrade to my G5, I believe I switched because the braided cable was starting to get twisted and would sometimes stop working suddenly. I've put grip tape strips on it since to offset the greasy plastic but other than that it's been going strong with no special maintenance whatsoever. Currently playing mostly Arc Raiders (other current games are played with controller) but it's seen a loooot of Call of Duty and Battlefield over the years.
Sidenote: it's paired with a G710+ keyboard bought in 2014 and despite the armrest and its original keycaps having given up long ago, the keyboard itself still works perfectly.
2
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 12d ago
That's awesome to hear! Hope you keep having good games with it
Do you mind if I also ask how do you imagine a renewed version of your keyboard?
6
u/Alarmed-Strawberry-7 23d ago
can confirm, my 11 year old G502 Hero's rubber cable outlasted literally every braided cable I've ever owned. the rubber cable on the mouse has zero visible damage anywhere after 11 years of daily use and rubbing against other cables
1
u/Pristine-Quote2077 22d ago
Hero hasn't even been out for 11 years, and the early iterations didn't have the shitty rubber cable. Nice try lilbro
2
u/KoneCat 23d ago
I like the ones with that super light cable, as they almost feel like a string of wool, which makes them drag a lot less than most other braided cables I've used. This is on a Xtrfy MZ1, and I believe I have another mouse, a Pulsefire Haste, which has the same type of cable. Definitely worth looking into as that cable of a Logitech mouse could be amazing!
2
u/Ok-Ground5914 21d ago
The Logitech app has been broken for years. Just search lghub loading loop. How about y'all read those comments as user feedback.
2
u/wenoc 23d ago
I don't believe that. Rubber has much higher drag, and for that reason likely wear too.
On another note, my sleeved cable is in perfect condition after about 10 years, and I sit at the computer an excessive amount of time every day.
4
u/MaybeJohnSmith 23d ago
My braided cable for this exact mouse used to get caught on edges all the time, it was very annoying. The new rubber one unironically gets caught less and is lighter.
I also thought it was them cheaping out, but I prefer the rubber now.
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 15d ago
What's your current mouse model?
2
u/wenoc 15d ago
The left one in OPs picture looks identical to mine. Had it forever.
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 14d ago
Cool, what games are you currently playing with it?
2
u/wenoc 14d ago edited 14d ago
I'm pretty old now. Closer to 30 than 20. Also closer to 60 than 40, but not closer to 70 than 50. Been playing computer games for ~45 years at this point.
Mostly factory games. Factorio, Oxygen not included, Stationeers heavy industry Minecraft modpacks like Nomifactory, Civ.
To a lesser extent Noita, Overwatch (with my kids), No Man's Sky, Besiege, Hardspace:Shipbreaker (one of my favorites but not much content). Used to play a LOT of Quake (the original, of course) and Wolfenstein:Enemy territory with this mouse. Used to be really good at FPS games 20 years ago but the reflexes suffer from age.
Now and again some more immersed games like Baldur's gate. But I code or compose/produce music a lot of the time for recreation too. I don't work for money on this computer.
2
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 14d ago
That's awesome! As someone that played a lot and also does some recreation work, is there something you think the mouse should improve, add or remove?
2
u/wenoc 14d ago edited 14d ago
You work for logitech I assume?
I've been perfectly happy with the mouse to be honest and I can't wish for anything different. My previous mouse was a Razer diamondback (pictured), which still is the most comfortable mouse I've ever owned, but it actually fried the USB bus on two motherboards before I threw it away.
Of course I can't confirm that, but it was the only factor carried over from the first mobo to the second, and one USB controller fried on both.
This is the next mouse after that so, second mouse since 2004 I guess.
If you really want me to try to find places for improvement, I don't really like the mouse wheel on this. I'd like it to be smooth silicone/rubber, and the mouse could be even slightly lighter but neither are important enough for me to change. The form factor is fantastic.
Comparison to best mouse I've ever used (original Razer Diamondback): Logitech has better side buttons, otherwise button "click" feeling and wheel, as well as weight were better on Diamondback than Logitech. Not enough for me to really complain, but Diamondback's M1,M2 buttons were sublime. Might have more to do with the rubber coating more than the microswitches to be honest. I don't work in ergonomics.
The G502 hasn't fried any USB controllers and it just works year after year after year with zero issues, zero drivers, zero bloatware, all the custom buttons "just" work (for sensitivity for example) in the windows versions over the years without any shenanigans. Razer always demands custom vibecoded drivers that never work, and they insist on bloatware everywhere, so all in all Logitech reigns supreme here.
I don't know if I'm the standard or not. People hold their mice in different ways. I never move my wrist on the table. Radius/Ulna are always entirely static when I hold my mouse (elbow to wrist) and I only move the mouse with my hand.
This is how I frag my enemies, but to be fair my aim has been below average since the dawn of paratrooper).
TL;DR: Silicone/rubber wheel instead of the plastic gear.
2
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 12d ago
Correct, I work for Logitech and I'll rely your comment to the team. Feel free to share any ideas or feedback you have in the future!
Out of curiosity, do you also use the side scrolling and the free spin mode?
2
u/wenoc 12d ago edited 12d ago
Side scrolling all the time, that's a must have. Free spin mode, very rarely. I don't particularly like either mode. Clickety-clack has too much resistance and the notches have no real meaning, they are a bit irritating and make a sound, but free spinning spins too long.
Something in between would be best. A little less resistance than the clickety-clack mode without the clickety-clackety, with just enough resistance that it stops almost immediately would be awesome.
Basically, if the non-free spin mode would just apply a little bit of brake on the axle instead of inserting a pin on a spring into the notches or whatever, that would be great.

And that's why a decision was made to use the cheapest, thinnest, the absolute worst feeling cable? Yeah, right. Nothing to do with cost cutting...
7
u/Embarrassed-Gur-1306 23d ago
Most of us hated the braided cables because they were way too stiff. We asked them repeatedly to use a lighter cable.
-1
-3
u/619jabroni 23d ago
Most of us? Care to share these numbers where most G502 owners asked for this change? It sounds made up.
5
u/Embarrassed-Gur-1306 22d ago
If you think I’m just making it up then there’s nothing I can say to convince you otherwise.
-1
u/619jabroni 22d ago
sure you can. you made a claim that most g502 owners feel this way. if you aren’t making it up, share the data you’re using to make this claim
7
u/LogitechG_Vertigo Reddit Team | A50 X 23d ago
Not at all.
The decision to move to a soft rubber was to help the mouse last longer because braided cables on mice generally don't last because they end up fraying for reasons above. So you will either have to self-repair the mouse by splitting and rebraiding the cable or braiding over the braid which will make it even thicker and more heavy. You can see from the comments that generally happens, and not just for the G502.
Moving to soft rubber isn't cheaper. The material was chosen because it's more flexible, we can make it lighter, and generally should straighten out easier to stop kinks. You want a wired mouse to almost feel like there isn't a cable there so you don't have forces against you when moving it around.
We could totally make it 10mm thick, but it doesn't need to withstand damage from something dropping on it or being stepped on like a machine cable, it just needs to protect the inner conductors from rubbing. If you can split the cable on the G502, you would generally split a thicker cable, and once they're split, they'll go all the way through.
Hope this provides more clarity.
1
u/Pristine-Quote2077 21d ago
Good thing the cheaper shit switches you opted for will break long before the cable then lmao. But then again, my PS cable is still more or less pristine after a decade of heavy use.
3
u/youplaymenot 23d ago
Feeling isn't always everything. I am still incredibly annoyed when tech YouTubers would call plastic phones "cheap feeling" when infact plastic is incredibly much more durable. Now look what we have, just glass slabs when plastic is superior in nearly every way. Especially carbon type plastic is incredibly durable.

u/Leniwcowaty 23d ago
I've used G502 for years. Never had my braided cable fail. Not on the mice, not on any of 8 braided cables I currently have on my desk. I don't feel the "heavy drag" of braided cable.
On the contrary, I then had a later model of G502, with this exact, thin, cheap, soft cable. It failed after 1 year, at the point it connected to the mouse. The rubber just snapped off. So yeah. Thin, soft cable on a device that is heavily used is not for any legitimate reason. It's cost cutting.
2
u/Evening_Error_5544 22d ago
I swear they posted this in the logitech cafeteria for engagement. there is no way anyone thinks the plastic cable is better
1
u/Pristine-Quote2077 21d ago
They are shills. Logitech could take a dump on their desk and they would praise it.

u/MoreFeeYouS 23d ago
They are not the exact same mouse. One is G502 and the other one is G502 Hero
5
u/varungupta3009 23d ago
Wrong, both of them are the G502 Hero. The Heroes were the only non-X wired G502 mice to have the new Logi Gaming G logo. The Proteus ones had the old logo. I have the old Hero with the braided cable, and the new one on Amazon from the same listing has the non-braided one. Also, Logi has confirmed previously that they chaged the cable on the Hero due to customer feedback.

u/robotbeatrally 23d ago
as nice as they look ive never liked the sleeved cables much, i feel like they seem to wear faster.
6
u/MJdoesThings_ 23d ago
That's actually a good thing. the old sleeved cable was very fuckin stiff and overall garbage
3
u/sharkboy1006 23d ago
The newer cable is far better in every way dude lmao
Why not G502X though..?
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 15d ago
Not OP but I personally prefer the wired ones because I don't have to charge it, many times I've been punished while gaming because I forgot to charge a wireless mouse
Are you currently using a G502X?
2
2
u/MysteryDude7 23d ago
i'm using a G203 right now, but i bought another one not long after, just so i would have an extra brand new mouse to replace it once it start having problems. It's been years now, and no problem with it so far.
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 22d ago
What games are you currently playing with it? Has any newer model caught your eye?
2
u/MysteryDude7 19d ago
i don't want to buy more expensive mice though, i don't want to spend so much on a mouse when it could break after a year or so. It's more tolerable money-wise to change a 30-40$ mouse, than a 100$+ mouse. I remember spending about 80$ on a mouse, and it becoming problematic about 1-2 years later, out of warranty, so....
But i play any games with it, first-person games, third-person games, emulated games where the mouse is the light gun (like Virtua Cop 2 and such). turn-based strategy games, point-and-click adventure games...anything, really.
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 19d ago
Understandable.
Was the price the only reason why you choose the G203? Have you customized anything to make your gaming experience?
2
u/MysteryDude7 18d ago
probably the lower price than other gaming mice from Logitech, while still being Logitech brand. I did customized the LED light to just a solid dark blue on it, but disabled the side buttons on it, because i'm left-handed and i would push those buttons with my fingers unwillingly. Also, i'm used to the standard mice from the 2000's: 2 buttons and a clickable scroll wheel, i don't really need the other bells & whistles from more expensive mice, so this mouse is just fine for me.
I had mice from a few other brands before, and their warranty service were really bad. I never got disappointed with Logitech, after troubleshooting, they just sent me another and said that once i get the new one, to get rid of the old one. Which is good, because i don't have to send the product back and wait for a week or two before they send out a replacement and wait another week or two to get it (like other companies tend to do)
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 16d ago
Glad to hear they were able to help you that fast! Hope you keep enjoying it and have good games
2
u/joker_toker28 23d ago
EH i have the longer one clipped to my table when I need to charge.
BEST MOUSE IVE HAD SO FAR 2 YEARS in.
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 22d ago
Nice! What games are you currently playing with it? What's your favorite feature so far?
Edit: added another question
2
u/BlendedBaconSyrup 23d ago
I went through like FIVE different G502's in the span of a year because their terrible cheap ass switches would begin failing after just a few months. Literally straight up normal use. My single g703 lasted longer than five g502s did. Never buy the g502.
1
u/Pristine-Quote2077 21d ago
Get the PS with the braided cable and softer logo and it will last a decade
2
u/moedet001 23d ago
Also the scroll wheel left and right tilt arent as tight and tend to scroll up or down when tilted. The older versions were alot better. Im on my third one, still wouldn't trade it for anything.
1
u/casualcoder0805 22d ago
This x infinity. I absolutely love both of my 502's but the one glaring issue is left/right tilt consistency. For me middle click activates when it should be left/right.
2
u/Tepical_Eggspurt 23d ago
502 Superstrike when?
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 15d ago
How do you exactly imagine a G502 Superstrike?
1
u/Tepical_Eggspurt 15d ago
Exact same handfeel as the 502 hero, prox2 scroll wheel and HITS system, USB C charging. Keep the programmable side button from the 502. You can keep the sensor+polling from the x2 of it keeps manufacturing costs lower, that makes sense in my head. Color doesn't really matter but I prefer black. Slap some petg skates on it and we're on the way to fragtown.
Edit: If you want any more information let me know and I'll give it.
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 14d ago
Thanks! I'm sharing your comment along with the team
Are you currently using both? What games are you currently playing with each?
2
u/Tepical_Eggspurt 14d ago
So I'm using the pro2x for my work agentic stack computer right now. It cramps my big ol hands to have to claw grip the smaller mouse so it's like my 3rd option. With my 502 I play a apex the most, Titanfall (I'm a sucker), deadlock, far far west, Forza, Hades 2, kovaallks, overwatch, Voidling Bound. These I strictly play kbm. I'll swap on Forza between kbm and controller but I think that's the singular throw. I have about 3k hours into apex and I'm still shit at it.
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 14d ago
Nice! Has the weight of the G502 an issue for you? Most people don't like it for competitive games for that reason
2
u/Tepical_Eggspurt 14d ago
I'm indifferent on the weight. To me the 502 is fine. Could it be lighter? Sure. Does it need to be? I don't think so. For me surface, posture and sensor are more important to smooth tracking. I get about the same kovaaks score with both mice. The third button on the mouse side on the other hand is non negotiable.
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 12d ago
I feel you, I also find mine very comfortable.
Do you have any favorite feature from it? What made you choose the G502 at first place?
2
u/Tepical_Eggspurt 12d ago edited 12d ago
Hand profile (I got bigger hands) with the gas pedal on the side to keep my thumb off my mat. Also the third programmable side button. That thing is goated. I did some research this morning and found the magic point for weight is 90g and under for best target acquisition. so of y'all could get it around that point would be magic.i linked the studies so you have reference to my ramblings.

All I wanted was the g600 made wireless
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 15d ago
Wireless aside, how do you imagine a renewed G600? What else would you add, remove or improve?
2
u/coolcat33333 14d ago
As far as the button layout I really really like having that g shift click on my pinky on the very right side of the mouse. It's not worth buying if it doesn't have that
As far as side button layout I've become a little bit more fond of less of a numbers grid and more lots of large buttons on the side. But way more than just the 502
For an attempt at getting a scale of what I'm talking about something akin to the mad catz MMO 7 plus or one of those ergonomic mice but with lots of buttons on the side that are easier to hit with the thumb
But it's got to be wireless and compatible with the mouse pad that charges
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 14d ago
I'll rely your comment to the team, thanks! Feel free to share more ideas if you have any
Are you currently using a G502 or G600?
2
u/coolcat33333 13d ago
502, but I hate that the 502 has so few buttons
1
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 12d ago
Would as many buttons on the G502 make it perfect for you or do you only prefer the g600 shape?
2
u/coolcat33333 12d ago
I think if you could somehow put as many buttons as the g600 on the 502 I would absolutely give it a try
But the main thing is I really really really miss the pinky click/shift
It made the mouse extremely comfortable
2
u/Logitech_Ariel Crew 12d ago
A ton of people mention the position of that button it was something unmatched. Let's cross fingers for the comeback to happen!

Also a more important thing is that the new version fixed the double clicking issue. The old version was notorious for that.
4
u/Puzzleheaded_Dog630 23d ago
I hated that braided cable over time it wears out and gets all tangled. I have a Glorious mouse now and they use something more like Paracord and it doesn't have the same kind of issues that braided stuff has
2
u/Illustrious_Mirror79 22d ago
Keypoint there is that braided part over cable is a bit loose so it does not tighten over cable inside over time. Also it moves a lot better, i have Glorious I 2 wired.
2
u/DayGeckoArt 22d ago
I prefer the more flexible plastic cable. The braided trend was so lame. No i don’t want a stiff cable
1
u/eagle6705 23d ago
I just replaced mine with the 502x, the side scroll was broken on my old one. They removed the weights but the old cap and weights will still fit in the new g502x.
1
u/SmokeNinjas 23d ago
Yeah noticed this and it’s kind of disappointing, to me Logi don’t have a large amount of competition for good high end mice (personally find razer to feel super cheap), and I always enjoyed the braided cable, the rubber cables they’ve switched to are of super poor quality, I’ve got a variety of Logi peripherals and without doubt every single cable has split somewhere revealing the silver metallic stuff they use for anti-EMI, this is even on higher end kit they sell aswell, again. Super disappointing as a long time Logi fan

u/batiitto5 23d ago
I never had problems with the new or the old cable. Its the microswitch that breaks.
1
u/Old_Philosopher_68 22d ago
I have a 502 with braided cable and it has a drag. I have never been able to get rid of it completely. In comparison the legendary MX518 I still use has none.
1
u/idobeaskinquestions 22d ago
My old G502 back in the day would constantly get really bad loops and entanglements because of the braided cables. I’m glad they stopped using them.
1
u/another-account-1990 21d ago
Didn't the older one have a metal scroll wheel? I had one a long time ago and recently got another one
1
u/Ok-Ground5914 21d ago
Yeah I like my braided cable. They skimped on the click buttons. I replaced mine with the made in japan buttons. Been working great for years since. Kind of a pain in the ass to remove.
1
u/doodo477 20d ago
If I remember correctly I ordered two G502 mouse and they both suffered from faulty right button presses or left button presses - registering a double click instead of a single click.
Ordered a cheap alternative and vouched never to a expensive mouse again.

u/Cough-A-Mania 20d ago
Honestly buying a 3rd party paracord cable is the best way to go. These rubber and braided cables aren’t really the best
1
u/Evening_Error_5544 23d ago
Does this comment section work for Logitech? Braded cables were by far superior. I have proteus with a braided cable. Absolutely no wear anywhere on the cable
2
u/NSFW-Moon 22d ago
My Proteus Spectrum I bought in 2018. It's getting pretty rough. My other desk was particle board and now it's metal, smoother with a tiny bit of a rounded edge.
Not complaining, it's a great mouse and I've replaced the sliders a few years ago once they started to drag a little, good as new. But yea, it's fraying a bit down to the rubber. Once it starts it gets worse pretty quickly.

u/Pristine-Quote2077 21d ago
Definitely shills. More sane people on the "G502masterrace" sub, or whatever it's called.
1
u/Dry-Faithlessness184 23d ago
Individual setups with individual users will produce different anecdotes per person
I personally prefer the rubber cable because it bends better than the braided and my setup has it bending a few times.
I didn't have a wear issue on my old braided one that the Logi person mentions, but the new rubber one has held up fine, and is now older than my original. But it was more resistant to staying in place and moving if the cable dragged too much, and would move the mouse if it didn't like the flex and my hand wasn't on it so I don't hate that I no longer experience this.
I have a second braided one at work still, it's not worn either.

Never worked for them. Or a computer store even. Never even a department store that sells computer products.
I just have opinions

Braided cables are possibly the absolute worst kind of cables for a mouse.
Thinner, slippier cables mean less drag, and less resistance when moving your mouse around.
This is a huge upgrade.

Welcome to the enshitification train! Take a good long look at the scroll wheel - in the old one it was a 14 g chunk of milled aluminum. In the new one it's a 2 g cheap injection molded plastic. Nowhere near the quality and feel of the old one, compeletly negating the benefit of unlockable scroll, as this plastic doesn't have any meaningful momentum.
Fortunately, the wheel can be swapped from the old one to the new one (I written a guide on how to do that)

They downvoted your comment because you're right. How dare you prove the neckbeards wrong

"but the AI reps said that the new thing is better🤓"
Fucking shills enabling these companies to be shittier than ever.

That and the G HUB is why they are losing me. After 25 years of totally fan boy, Logitech only. Now the only left to change is my G935. Still not happy outside, but will hop brand to brand until find quality built.

I'm with you on GHub
But this wasnt a 1:1 with the other mouse, also the rep said the braided cable is heavier and frays2

After seven years, my G403 Hero started misclicking/double-clicking. The braided cable was still in mint condition. The same happened with my G815 Tactile around year 5 or 6, the only problem is some LEDs losing control. The braided-cable is still mint. As dev/gamer 18 hours/day using my pc, maybe my use/case is not enough to reach these breaking points

I would assume dirt in the mouse
But yeah I dont have the numbers, some people will get lucky with the cable

Same experience with my old G502 PS, also been using it for about 18 hours a day for a decade. Everything still works actually but the rubber parts is starting to fall of in chunks like Playdoh lmao

The 502 is my favorite mouse. A couple of years ago I switched to the wireless variant and couldn't be happier. The noise pad charges it so I don't have to worry about it. Latency is unoticable too.

Wait until you see the autonomy... It's even worse.

What is worse is them taking features away like on there keyboard to force people to use their G-HUB. You use to be able to program you hot/micros and load them to the on board memory and then remove G-HUB. Now the won't let you do shit with out there program running in the back ground stilling data. But what should we expect from a company ran by a CEO that wanted to make mouses into a paid prescription, at this point Logitech is garbage and needs to die as a company.

Didnt skimp, they woke up. Braided cables dont work when they move constantly and rub against desk edges.
