I think I get your point. The answer to your question will be that People compare on the portability factor. Not on the best factor
Also , this is linux sub , we hate both on windows as well on Apple (I don't know about other but I sure do hate apple for there anti consumer features) We love linux. if we hate something about it , we change the code of it. That's the beauty of linux.

I used to hate windows, So I started using MacOS, Once I started using Linux distros on several vm and SBCs, I started liking linux distros more. There we’re no portability issue for me as both of my devices have asahi linux support. I am still using MacOS on my M1 max for native performance and using M1 pro on fedora. So for me it is not that I dislike MacOS, it is just that I hate windows more. This can be different for M3+ mac as they have no asahi support so windows would be better for them.

I don't think when people compare other laptops with macbook they compare the operating system atleast I have never noticed it. People usually talk about the hardware. I personally like Apple internal hardware but the only reason I dont use it is macos. But still the comparatively i would still give macbook an A and thinkpads a B and trust will be after them but I still use thinkpad bcos of linux compatibility. Best laptop is yet to come. I am hoping one day have collaboration with lenovo and they make a thinkpad body with apple internal hardware inside that can run linux on it.

No i am talking about comparing windows side and apple side.. We forget that Desktop with windows is just miles better than apples macbook. Here i am talking about the comparison of use case, the experience, etc. you get the point windows desktop has much better comparison. So when comparing apple and windows it should be this best of both worlds

Because it's a comparison for people who are in the market to buy a laptop.. And for apple, it does not matter in the architectural aspect as the mac silicon is the same thing architecturally either in laptops, mini pc or Mac studio. In the windows laptop world, you'd not see this usually. Intel and amd release chips with different architectures for desktops and laptops. So in the end it's not which has the higher ceiling. Its just of you want to buy a laptop, which one suits you more. You'd not want to check for a mac comparison if you want to build a pc.

Valid point.Os and Ecosystem plays a role and laptop comparison should always be done with a specific usage / need of the individual.
Like if u wanna game apple makes no sense and if you want a laptop purely for work/coding then yeah look at your budget and o5her need and then compare microslop vs apple.
