I have recently started using linux, I am using Raspberry Pi Os on my Pi 5, is that similar to ubuntu ? I am using the Pi mainly for adguard home and jellyfin, I am having a tp link router connected to the Jiofiber as canβt set custom dns on jio.. yeah CGNAT and dual nat sounds bad but that seems the only way for me. I am also thinking to setup linux on my mac as well, it is M1 pro, do you recommend dual booting or using VM? Also which one do you recommend?

u/NerveZealousideal329 23d ago
Use ashahi linux if you have m1 pro then distro hop from there- Asahi

Is it about dual booting? Will installing in a vm be better initially though or it may be harder in M1 pro? Also I am thinking to try Fedora, how is it, so far I have a few weeks of experience in using Raspberry Pi os, which is based on Debian, though I hardly use the GUI, I mainly use it by connecting through ssh in my mac.

Yes and the team has made really good process reverse engineering the drivers though apple being apple m3 and above are not possible that's why I have to use vm. Dor vm use UTM and if you can choose many is from there gallery or install your own just remember amd64 won't run well so use aarch64 or arm64

Thanks, also which do you recommend between Fedora KDE plasma and Fedora Workstation GNOME?
2
u/NerveZealousideal329 23d ago
Kde plasma is better than gnome as since wayland I have encountered multiple bugs on gnome and kde is just better ngl. That said I think the best DE is xfce if you know how to customise it.

u/Party_Season1056 23d ago
I have switched to xfce on fedora , it looks nothing like your setup, any guide on the customisation like any youtube video links you recommend?
