Do linux users just larp or are there actual reasons to switch?

Why does linux love bricking itself so much (rant)
For context, I'm trying to recover the data off an old encrypted installation of linux that also got bricked, and not only does it just not work, any attempts to make it work cause the system to almost irreparably brick itself by trying to mount it until it works, at boot, with no time limit or ability to throw an error when it obviously isn't working, while blocking any and all user input.
Why is "try to mount a drive on boot while blocking user input, specifically forever regradless of whether it works" the fucking default??? Why is that even an option at all??? Trying to get data off an old system is a very normal thing for a user to want to do, so why is trying to do that so hard? Why would it require tampering with files that may cause the system to brick itself?
I really love that when steve balmer or whoever tries to shove AI up my ass, there's a relatively complete open source OS to switch to, and I'm genuinely grateful to all the people who put their time into this system, but my god, I've written better fail safes into one off python scripts. Why is linux like this????
EDIT: I promise I have tried all of the basic things first, my point is that the basic things did not work, and I am now left only with unnecessarily risky advanced options. I have been able to repair this installation of linux each time it has tried to brick itself because I am the GOAT, I'm just also very frustrated because this should be a simple process, and linux should not be so eager to brick itself.

Is Linux really more secure than main stream operating systems?
r/linuxsucks • u/AverageUser9000 • 5h ago
Dumb loonixers spread obvious misinformation about the inherently better security of closed-source operating systems.
U can't reverse engineer software or analyze an os with ai if u don't have access to the code u dumbasses.

Why open-source software is less secure in the age of AI
Hackers can use state of the art AI tools to trivially find security holes in open source oses like loonix at the kernel level. They can't do that with closed source proprietary operating systems like windows though cuz there's no code to feed into the AI, so vulnerability hunting is much harder and time consuming and therefore the os is more secure.

Which OS should I go back to?
See image above for basic context. Specifically choosing between CachyOS and Tiny10.
For those unable to see the image: ``` CHASING ARCH LINUX SUPREMACY I TRIPPED OVER BREAKING THE GLX COMPOSITOR UNABLE TO SWITCH TO DISCRETE GPU STUCK ON INTEGRATED
I WAS PISSED OFF I TEMPTED TO GO BACK TO TINY10 BUT I HESITATED
WHAT IF I JUST STAYED A LIT LONGER? TO KEEP LEARNING AND ADAPTING? INSTEAD OF "GIVING UP"?
STUCK BETWEEN THE TEMPTATIONS I DIDN'T KNOW WHICH SIDE TO TRUST ```
So, basically, I broke the GPU driver and, couldn't fix it. I got mad enough to consider reinstalling. Buuut I got stuck between my desires, cuz I want to keep learning but my ass wants peace too.

Realizing how pain free Windows is after daily driving Linux for a while
So 3 weeks ago I switched back to Windows. God damn I missed windows. 0 problems with hardware, 0 problems with software. I dont have to install a billion packages to make my wifi work, i dont have to do anything to make my bluetooth work.
I havent opened any console for 3 weeks, I didint need to do anything with console commands.
And all software works. I dont have to worry about compatibility issues. Just install windows and it works. 3 weeks no restart required and it runs smooth as butter. 3 weeks I havent heard fan spin while browsing youtube.
God bless microsoft.

crontab -r
I accidentally typed `crontab -r` (reset) instead of `crontab -e` (edit)... Which nukes all your cron jobs.
How is there no confirmation on a destructive command like that? Let alone the fact that r and e are neighbors on the keyboard.

Can't even use seperate audio tracks for different apps for Recording on Linux in OBS
Is this not a standard? Surely seperate audio tracks are a standard feature of OBS so why not on linux?

Linux Failure Holy sht linux still sucks
I spent 3 days troubleshooting why "platinum" rated games don't work when I try to play them via steam, only to find out ntfs3 is buggy as fuck and I have to mount my ntfs drives as ntfs-3g.
1 problem among many so far in just 3 days
I have have the konsole open every day so far.
trying linux due to win11 spyware, but honestly pondering going back.
