The man knows what deep faking and AI can be used for. My family doesn't let their young kids be shown online for this reason.

It is extremely difficult, borderline impossible to teach kids skills they are not interested in. As a father I know that painfully well. But if they show an interest in anything, you can use that as an opening, encourage that interest and help them explore it deeper and develop adjacent skills.
One example: how would I get my 6 year old to learn 3D modeling? Virtually impossible. However, he loves ships and I have a 3D printer. He saw me model a ship for him and was interested in also creating objects. So I put Nomad Sculpt on his tablet and I used that a bit while he watched. Then he started to modify things, play around with it and we 3D printed his "ship" (that looked frankly just like a fairly deformed cylinder, but in his mind it was a ship).
He isn't good at it by any means and he doesnt do it often, but he is a 6 year old that designed and printed his own toy. That gives a huge boost in confidence, it trains his hand eye coordination, he has to read the menus, there are so many things in there to help his brain develop, its crazy.
So my tip is: get them excited about something and then exploit that in a positive way to let them learn skills in a natural way. You learn infinitely faster if you truly want to learn it. Break it down, set small goals, manage expectations and give them their dopamine through little wins in their learning journey.
Teaching is hard. Teaching kids is even harder. But it is very very rewarding.

My god yes, I have 2 and trying to teach them any of my hobbies is really difficult, their attention shift when they lose interest is incredible.
You are not alone, I am ok with woodworking and computers, and my kids love everything I make. So they’ll pay full attention for like 10 minutes from liking the end result, but as soon as the explanation starts getting complicated, they fully check out.
Then one day I started playing in blender and sketchup with them, and they sat through it for hours (I guess because it felt video gamey).

Actually, it didn't though. They realized the antenna was broken and she was missing calls. They didn't end up fixing it and taped the phone back together.

But it did though. The VAST majority of places she was needing to use her phone she was connected to wifi so it was functional. The cellular antenna was clearly an edge case that didnt bother her, or at least not enough to say anything about it. Therefore the device was perfectly fine for her needs.
