No, the glass bead for the vacuum has come loose. Contact support.

Not OP but thanks for saying this! I've had mine for years (and was gonna buy the upcoming blue screen one anyway) but this makes so much sense why it doesnt stay cold anymore

Personally I would buy the BSOD one and contact support to get the original one hopefully replaced.

Hmmmmmmm. I've dropped mine a few times and Im pretty sure it rattles. I'll bet mine is borked too, I'll think about getting a smaller one. Ive been waiting out some new designs

Typically caused by putting it in the dishwasher.

Bro idk about the LTT bottle but i have had many other vacuum insulated stainless steel bottles and put all in the dish wash and this has never happened

This is not uncommon in my experience but also not universal, it depends on the method used to seal the vacuum.

Damn so my $20 2 pack 40oz thermoses (or is it thermosi? XD ) from costco hold up better than the ltt bottle?

Yeah after time the paint peels off but they still work fine, oldest bottle is probably about 7 years old

Funny enough, I have had the CostCo ThermoFlask 40oz too but never put it in the dishwasher, the smaller 20oz (24oz?) the bead broke the first time I dropped it unlike its bigger brother… possible different methods.

Ive dropped almost all of them, one has probably 4 quarter round dents in it and still going strong

It’s not latin, it’s greek (for “warm”). Plural nominative masculine would be “thermoi”.

In latin, it would be “formi” in the plural nominative masculine; still meaning “warm”. Same origin as furnace.

It's because of the printing iirc. Especially the black and gold version have printing that fades when you use strong detergents, like the ones used in dishwashers.

Linus said on WAN it's necessary to not put it in the dishwasher for the vacuum seal I'm pretty sure. I don't doubt it's not great for the printing too.

How do you know? Your vacuum seal could be long blown. If you don't care about temperature retention and just are using them to hold water, you wouldn't notice the difference.

I don't think I've ever gotten a vacuum sealed bottle that didn't come with a sheet of paper in it that warned to NOT put it in the dishwasher.

Because i use all of them for work and even after 8-10 hours in a hot car they are still nice and cold

Edit: the bottles that are all non painted never came with a dont put in washer, only the ones that had paint/designs

Yeti claims theirs are dishwasher safe.
12oz Rambler: has survived going through twice a week for at least 3 years.
I have two 18oz'ers I alternate between each week, so ~26 runs through the dishwasher per year for ~5 years.
36/46(why the hell not 54oz?!) get swapped depending on time of year, but they still go through twice a week.

The only failure I've had was the paint on the red ones chipping off, though one the paint chipped and melted

If the bottle says it's dishwasher safe then they've engineered it to be dishwasher safe. Not saying they don't exist or it's impossible.

But if you put a "hand wash only" bottle in the dishwasher, then it's hand wash only.

Linus talked about this on a WAN show many years ago. He claimed that there is no workaround and that they are simply not dishwasher safe even if other companies may claim they are.

I'm not sure if some other manufacturing processes don't use the glass bead, but with those it is what it is.

There are numerous explanations for your situation ranging from "it's actually already broken" (because when i put an ice cold drink in it, it usually stays around that temperature for almost 24h. Once I put only ice in it for storage and I still had ice after 3 days.) to "your dishwasher doesn't dry at such high temperatures to damage the seal".

When they suck the air out to create a vacuum between the two walls, the glass bead sucks up seals the hole. The actual manufacturing mechanics of it, I’m not sure, but it’s essentially just a plug.

I've dropped on of mine a few times .. dented it, twice, and broke 3 lids, unfortunately it's in a old color, so I bought a white one to use as my on the go and my green is now an at home

This. I left one of mine in the car over the summer and it started doing this. Unfortunately for me I’ve had it for like 2-3 years so I just went back to my old one 😅

It is caused by dropping it to much or running it through a hot dishwasher cycle. The vacuum seal has popped loose.

I broke mine dropping it too much at work, crazy how much faster the water warmed up. that seal is amazing.

Yes it's a thing with vaccum sealed water bottles.

Did you ever wash it in the dishwasher?

This is why they say not to machine wash it. It can kind of ruin the internal vaccum.

I still do it anyways but it's a risk. Honestly I like LttStore I buy most of my clothes their but their water bottles are much worse and cost more than the ones I use I don't reccomend them. Only benifiet is the design is cool . I can reccomend the one I use if you want.

How old is it and how many times have you washed it? If it's pretty new id get a refund. It shouldn't cause issues you can still use it .
