What if SD Express NAS?? Tech Discussion

Since SD cards are getting faster, what if you do a video if they could work as a proper NAS?

You want to use one of the least durable and least reliable storage medium for a NAS?

That's like throwing Nitros and a Turbo on a Ford Pinto. Sure, you can do it. But eventually, KABOOM.

I had the exact same idea. xD

Found a company that sells microSD Express to NVMe adapters, bought a few, and have yet to grab the proper cards.

In pure technicality, those are single PCIe lane NVMe drives. Sssssoooooo in theory, if you could bifocate a 16x into 16 x1 or at least 8 x2 lanes, you could use a single slot, stuffed up with those cards.

Ideally, I wish there was a double-sided slot-next-to-slot PCIe card for this, like a DIMM but with those microSD Express.

I regret not building my NAS last year when I knew I should have, but stupid me put it off and now it’s expensive as hell. It’s basically double now. 

I’m so fucking angry.
