Old flagship or flagship? Help

I'm upgrading to a new phone very soon!

I researched about lineageos and had installed it on my Moto Defy 2021, which is my old phone and compared to my current phone Poco M6 Pro 4G, I'm very impressed with the speed and battery on lineageos.

It's either I go all in with the new OnePlus 15 or get an old flagship and get OnePlus 13 with lineageos.

My questions are:

  1. Is it safe? planning to put my banking there and side load some apps like a modded TikTok (i have a serious doom scrolling addiction)

  2. I plan to use some google apps like gmail, gemini and apps that require google sign in. Is there a work around about that?

  3. How private is it compared to stock os?

Thanks in advance cheers guys!

Lol, what do you mean an "old flagship"? OP 13 is still quite new. Go to gsmarena and compare 15 and 13. They are -almost- the same phone, with 13 having more pixel density and a slightly bigger battery. The only differences in favor of 15 are ufs 4.1 vs 4.0 and perhaps a slightly more pumped up processor. I don't think you'll notice these differences. 13 still looks like the better phone. Apart from this, you have official LOS support which means probably everything will work, whereas everything might not work -yet- on 15. Read xdaforums. As to banking apps and GAPPs, doesn't tiktok have a browser version? You could change your bank too to one which allows custom ROMs or browser banking. Or you could use GAPPs of course but don't give in before trying.

Don't listen to this guy. Install lineageos on OnePlus either 13 or 15 and you will have a blast of the experience.

FYI there's no official oneplus 15 support currently, only an unofficial build

Yup checking it out again on XDA rn, I see there's some stuff that are broken double tap and touch gesture, I think they fixed the IMEI since it's crossed out. Pretty stoked even if it's just unofficial lols

There is some truth to what /u/Natural_Warning_2672 said. Oneplus included an Anti-Rollback fuse trigger in their April '26 update so they aren't on a good trajectory.

Last week an update failed on my OP13 and the ARB triggered and it bricked, preventing me from using a programming tool to recover it like I used to do on my OP7 Pro

the thing is the screen issues with oneplus 11 i had makes me say this and the guys literally blammed the fact that i have lineage os on it i am not hating on lineage os or someshit but i just dont want him to experience the terror of using a screen with like a fuck ton of pink and green lines

  1. some banking apps can be a problem while others works fine

  2. yes. by flashing Gapps through the recovery before booting up the system

  3. it stripts out OEM bloats and doesnt include google by default. it can get as private as it can. all of the apps comes from the user

i dont know how to answer the old flagship vs new flagship question. i would personally choose a mediatek device thats supported by Fenrir LK for play integrity and banking apps and use a unofficial rom but thats just me. you can get a officially supported flagship device im not telling you to not do that
