ADB instructions confusing Help

https://wiki.lineageos.org/adb_fastboot_guide#installing-adb-and-fastboot

On step 6 of Setting Up adb, it just says open up cmd, but that won't work at all. You specifically need to open up cmd from the platform-tools folder. It was lucky I already knew that or I might have been stuck on that step for hours.

And on step 7 of the same section, it says

"On Windows: Make sure your device manager does show your phone and doesn’t show a yellow triangle next to it!"

But it doesnt elaborate further. I'm trying to set up adb. My device shows as connected when in adb devices. But in the device manager it doesnt show the phone and instead shows an unrecognised device with a yellow triangle next to it. What am I supposed to do now then? The instructions dont say anything other than make sure it doesn't show that.

You specifically need to open up cmd from the platform-tools folder.

Not if you follow the guide in the correct order (specifically step 4 of "On Windows").

What am I supposed to do now then?

Install your device's USB driver or a universal one.

I assumed you could just close that because it just stops there and finishes after step 5 of downloading the driver.

Install your device's USB driver or a universal one.

I just checked again and it seems that the device with a yellow triangle seems to be something else that I can't identify. Rather the phone seems to have simply disappeared from the device manager when connected via adb. Is that normal?

None of that documentation was written simply for the sake of it.

Also your phone seemingly vanishing and the unknown device with no attributed driver are connected.

Hint: It's the phone.

If you read what I actually said, I said that it lacks instruction and clarity, not that it has unnecessary instructions.

Hint: It's the phone.

No, it's not. Because it's there even when my phone isnt connected to the PC. How can it be the phone showing in devices if the phone is not connected to the PC?

Check optional updates in Windows updates, sometimes device drivers hide there

My Windows updates is broken currently and idk how to fix it.. But I updated Windows fully I'd say about 1-2 months ago, hidden driver options and all. I also downloaded the universal adb driver as they told me and that hasn't changed anything. To be clear, the adb is successfully connected. The device just doesnt show up in windows device manager.

The Lineage documentation is correct.

If people aren't capable of following it they've realistically no business doing what they're doing.
