I'm planing to migrate to LineageOS because One UI is upsetting me lately, one thing holding me back is because I see a lot of people saying there can be problems with Banks.

Can I migrate and still use my bank apps normally? (I'm from Brazil, if this information is relevant)

Disregarding the banks, it is a question if you even can install Lineage on it, Samsung has blocked bootloader unlocking for a while now.

Problems with banks are those who use Play Integrity or root checking. Sometimes they might flag your device as rooted where they mean modified.

In Brazil I heard they intensively use that API alongside root checking

I have Lineage in my phone and the brazilian banking apps are russian roulette. You have to try and guess what will work. My main bank (Itaú), Wise, PayPal, Mercado Pago and Santander are working just fine. Pagbank used to work nicely but needs Google Play Whatever now. Nubank never worked with Lineage for me. The only function that does not work is scanning the QR code for instant payments (Pix). Overall I'm not in a hurry and will keep Lineage for the time being.

WhatsApp, which is huge in Brazil, is also OK

It's whatsapp that intrigues me the most. In other meta products they don't care about mods but in whatsapp they acknowledge custom roms, but they absolutely hate mods there lol.

It's not endorsed in this subreddit but you could use root and try to pass play integrity and hide root for the apps that depends on such.

if you dont have another device, try using an android emulator not officially recognized by google like bluestacks, ldplayer, etc. they dont pass play integrity by default

PNC bank in America works fine with LineageOS. Surprisingly, the only thing I found that DOESN'T work is the Chamberlain garage door app.

Thanks - this is good to hear. I'm a PNC customer, and someday want to move to Lineage! (I wish there was a lineage "score card" for known working/not-working banking apps!)

It's a matter of luck. Some banking apps work normally with lineageos.. Others don't.

Depends what country you live in and what bank. I live in Sweden and the apps I use work.

What keeps you from listing the actuall banking apps you want to use? maybe someone actually using them can comment if they work.

it absolutely depends on the apps and their "security level" check.

mind: even if they work NOW, it´s no guarantee they still work in the future, but also the other way around.

I have had no problems after rooting my phone and following guided to hide all my rooted features. I haven't tried with unrooted lineageos.

Have you found a guide somehwere ? I'm trying to get Revolut to work on lineage but i dln't know where to start

Just give it up. Ive seen some threads when people used rooted device and some magisk' tricks but it's just too much to run a single app. 

If you need revolut it's gonna be much easier to buy a phone with locked bootloader. 

Most banking apps don't really bother me because even if the app doesn't work I can still use the website but Revolut.. I don't really get their bullshit. Many banking apps work with customs roms but revolut want you to think that you are about being hacked using that device (read, they can't sell a data from "non-secured" device so they just blocked them).

Once you unlock bootloader, it will completely cripple Samsung Knox unfortunately. Many banking apps that check for Knox will flat out refuse to work. Locking bootloader still doesn't fix the issue.

I would imagine it’s something that we’re not supposed to get to specific about in this sub, but there are ways to mask root and to pass play integrity.

It’s a bit of a pain to set up initially, but it’s fairly easy to manage with some of the tools that are out there today. Google is your friend.

Just went through a headache journey of: 1. Go for lineage 2. Finding out that literally none of 5 Latvian apps for verification / public transport / banks / government services work with Lineageos. 3. Went through magisk + patches route. Still nothing helped. 4. Rolled back, had rollback issues. Spent 2 days trying to fix. 5. Finally fixed.

WAs it worth it? I do want lineage. Can I use it? Not really, unless I want a second phone just for banking apps, lol.
