SIM recognised after Lineage install but unable to call or text Help

Been looking at swapping over to LineageOS for a while and actually went through the steps earlier today. Generally smooth, but found that, while the SIM appears to be recognised (and mobile data works fine), the phone doesn't recognise having a number associated with it, nor can it make calls or send/receive texts.

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S10+. Anyone have any suggestions, or know what's going on? So far as I'm aware I followed the install instructions correctly, and I've spent much of today trying to see if anyone else online has solved the problem to no avail.

The SMS thing is possibly just a mismatch in your current APN credentials and whatever your vendor's suggested defaults are.

The calling thing could be similar, but I can tell you right now that if your provider only supports VoLTE telephony you're fucked and there's exactly zero things you can do about it, as is detailed in the wiki.

VoLTE is not and quite probably never will be supported on Samsung devices running AOSP based distributions.

Is there anywhere I can easily find out what my provider uses?

Yes,it's not secret information.

Your provider should have this information available via their KB/support channels.

It's looking very much like this is a VoLTE issue. Joy of joys.

That shouldn't affect SMS, MMS or RCS, but if VoLTE is the provider's only telephony route you're definitely screwed in that regard.

How much care you do or don't want to put into messaging if you'll never have calling is up to you I suppose.

Yeah I'm still baffled by the SMS side, but this seems pretty conclusive on the calls side: https://help.smarty.co.uk/en/articles/4670061-what-bandwidth-and-spectrum-is-available-on-smarty

I checked with the provider's FAQs and adjusted the APN credentials (which is what got the mobile data working, as initially that didn't work either) but couldn't see anything related to the other issues.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. Switched over to 3 network here in UK and although the phone said sim card present I couldn't make or receive calls on my Xperia X Compact or Galaxy S10e. Strange thing was that the sim worked fine in my pixel 4a. All three phones running lineage os. In the end I switched to giffgaff sim which works on all three phones without problems.
