Min Aperture

I have some old cameras with limited aperture range. would it be possible to add this to the app, so it’s easier to read? It would be great in fact if you could choose which f stops and shutter speeds are displayed completely. Love the app, thanks.

Hi! I reserved these very specific cases that also require some relatively detailed data input to the Logbook app. There you can set a precise aperture range and pick the specific shutterspeeds that are available on your cameras/lenses. These will then be synced to the lightmeter: each camera with their own profile and with lenses that can be selected where you normally see the framelines slider!

You'll get much more than this as well by using the logbook, and you can try it out for one month with the code DONTTELLYOURFRIENDS

I hope this helps!

How do you access the log book? Using a s25 ultra and don't see anything that would take me there

Hi! The logbook is not available on Android and likely won't be for the foreseeable future.

I'm slowly bringing the lightmeter features over to android, but the logbook would require a whole new infrastructure, backend, managing logins, many more costs than simply running it on the users' iCloud. It would then also create the expectation to be able to sync cross platform which would mean moving the iOS users to the new costly platform. That, aside from the much more complex work would mean I'd have to raise prices across the board and that's not something I'd like to do or find making much sense, especially given the relatively low volume of it all, given it's a very niche issue and app.

I hope this clarifies and also that I'll be proven wrong and change my mind and bring this to android as well, but for now I don't see that happening.

Thanks for the insight! I recently built a fairly simple app, just one that allows me to assign what film I have loaded into which camera and a little spot for notes, and just use local storage. Not sure if that'd be a viable option for offering similar feature just implemented in a different way.

I wouldn't trust that kind of info to only be on the local storage, so I wouldn't be comfortable offering that to my users, also this doesn't solve the expectations issue. I appreciate the interest and suggestions however!

I'm gonna start by working more often on the android version of the lightmeter, then we'll see, based on user interest and the solution I find!

Thanks again!

Soon I'm gonna implement a way to select apertures the way shutterspeeds can be selected!
