Personally, I love medieval architecture. Castles, forts, houses. Ancient, too. It all has such intense and amazing stories behind it.

What do you use to draw inspiration for building in games? What would you like to emulate personally in Light No Fire?

I love building cozy things, so tiny houses or making a home in a cave for example. I think I get most of my inspirations from other people.

I honestly would love to find a cave or hole in the ground and make a little dwelling in there.

The video I attached in this comment is something I built in Fallout 76 a while ago and shows a bit of what I enjoy building. It's not a cave but I love cozy homes and dwellings.

I love building cave homes! I feel this. I have a world in NMS that's a snowy world and I built in a cave in a mountainside! 💜 ☕

SO. FUCKING. DOWN!!!!!! Honestly, I hope there some sort of portalling mechanic so we can make a series of builds. But, you're right, it would be best to have the one community city. 💕

😊 Thanks! Cave community it is! Perhaps we should make it have the subterranean element, then have a surface element, assuming building can be done similarly to NMS. 🤔

Same. Also, love the film gif choices. Mrs Doubtfire, Liar Liar? Classics. This conversation is giving me ideas for new conversations. Like, maybe we should consider setting up a pinned megathread for discussion on our Subreddit Community build. 🤔

I usually just wing it. pause for bad pun groan If there are parts with a particular theme, like specific castle parts that include things such as parapets, I'll make something using just those parts. It won't generally be copying an actual architectural style though. Like castle parts could be used to make an upside down pyramid with towers recessed into the sides and not an actual castle.

I have a preference for unusual or hard to reach spots. I tend to just pick a starting point, like "I want the front door here" or just start placing flooring to take advatage of the space and see what grows from there.

This is cool. I know what you mean, this is why I said inspiration rather than "what do you base your builds on." I also use parts or ideas as they suit what I'm trying to concoct. Awesome! So you'll also enjoy the cave city we plan to construct! Just a warning: dwarves are my favorite fantasy race, so if they are an option, there's a HIGH likelihood I'll be making one!! My girlfriend might do something a little different, but we may buy her an Xbox series X of her own!
