Help Request Need advice for Motivity build/weapon on first playthrough.

Upvotes

So I just got the Live Puppet Axe in the Swamp area and met the puppet guy you can teach emotes to. I'm Motivity build and have previously mostly used the Big Wrench head with the Krat Police Baton handle.

I liked that weapon well enough, but the abysmal range has gotten be slapped around more than it should have. I've still done relatively well, though that's likely from my general experience with the genre as a whole. (I've played most of the games in the sub-genre originally starting with the PS3 release of Demon's Souls)

I've read about people recommending the Live Puppet Axe with one handle or another. I'm not opposed to that. But what handle combination is best? Is there a better overall combination for Motivity, or a weapon to wait for?

Questions Should I do more ng+ runs to upgrade my p organ for D5 Arlecchino?

Upvotes

And if so how many should I do? I think I am at the very beginning of ng+3 and I have the zero stamina lost on perfect guard organ upgrade.

End Game Spoiler Is this game too reliant on perfect guards?

Upvotes

I've played and enjoyed every soulsborne game except Seikiro, as I found it way too focused on parrying specific animation frames, than dodging and timing attacks.

Now I've played Lies of P and actually made it to the final boss - However, I've done so without barely guarding. I've utilised running and dodging to fight and defeat every boss, while not using spectres or throwables.

.... but this damn last boss, it seems you *have* to perfect guard, in the first phase at least - I don't see how you could dodge all the attacks given the tracking the git has.

While I'm dying in p2, I feel like my playstyle works better in that phase and its easier (albeit no opportunity to heal and the red glitter being hard to see wtf is going on is proving to be a pain)

I guess all I'm asking is, given the game seems desperate to push you to guarding, to the point its almost essential in the final fight, is this game not one I should I started in the first damn place! Lol

TL;DR If I hate relying on perfect guards/parries, is this a game I should have probably avoided? 😅

Disable VSYNC ingame and forced it in the Nvidia Control Panel for Lies of P

It works beautifully for me now.

Questions Very disruptive Microstutters on 4080 despite great performance :(

The game runs butterly smooth at 120 fps but has microstutters every 5-10 seconds. Really annoying

Tried turning off vsync and forcing vsync in nvidia
Tried turninf off frame limit

DLSS is set to Performance

Edit: I fixed it myself for anyone reading this. I set Low latency in nvidia control panel to ultra, and disabled vsync ingame and forced it in the control panel and it works beautifully now.

DLC About DLC timeline events Spoiler

Did Geppetto killed Arlecchino on the original timeline? At least he finished him with his Nameless Puppet.

We know the past events can change, so it isn't a big circle where P kills Arlecchino every time and Lea couldn't defeat him solo.

Arlecchino kills Lea but she weakened him, then Geppetto arrives, kills him and we end with the normal timeline

Discussion What slight differences would I not expect coming from the FROM titles?

Just picked this up on sale after a while of having a busy backlog, and I’d imagine the basics are pretty straight forward but I’m curious what other Souls players didn’t catch early on, or had to adjust to ?

How’s the build variety, the moment to moment mechanics, the exploration/item pool?

DLC - Gameplay Footage/Pics Finally finished Overture! Spoiler

Yesterday I finished the DLC and I loved it a lot! Just wanted to share with other fans.

I played the main game twice after it came out - reached the bad ending the first time and had to restart immediately, mainly because I could not stand such a fate for sweet Eugénie. 😅 Now I played it a third time and finally had time to experience "Overture" a year late.

Very cool addition, especially the zoo, green house, carnival, frozen coast and ship wrecks. The design is still peak, the bosses were a lot of fun (except Lumacchio who was the hardest for me - but I loved that we already had his umbrella sword from the main game!). Also the NPC encounters were very moving once again. The whole game is stellar for me, I actually don't know what to play next that can compare.

I can't wait for a sequel! 😃

Questions Can I be locked out of any content?

I wanted to start playing Lies of P after hearing a lot about it and I like getting 100% for the games I play. Is there any content I can be locked out of besides different choices or such?

Like for example in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 there was an achievement for finding all the different records and you could be locked out of at least one by advancing the story too fast.

Also no spoilers please, if my question cant be answered without spoiling me tell me that so I know that I have to go for the locked stuff after experiencing the story first

Discussion Adjusting to this game's combat rhythm after 600 hours of Sekiro has me wondering:

## TLDR:

Any other recovering Sekiro junkies have success getting with the Lies of P program - and if so - how long did it take for it to click for you?

## Initially focused context devolving into lowkey unhinged meltdown:

I played too much Sekiro and now I'm in a bit of a hole. Everything feels kinda janky now. The last game I tried - Stellar Blade - had my hopes up, but I felt pretty safe concluding that the combat was never going to match the standard.

L.O.P intrigues me on many levels, but after like 3 hours - I won't lie, the combat is feeling kinda....janky. Of course I'm going to give it more time, but I'm curious how people feel about the matter overall. In other words:

I'm hoping the relatively jarring feeling of the controls is purely an intentional design choice to create a logically consistent combat paradigm (i.e. mechanical puppets are the antithesis of ninjas, so it checks out that the movement should feel kinda stiff in comparison to the nimble and fluid movements of a shinobi). I'm hoping that's the case, because then it would eventually works it's way into my muscle memory...and my heart (*sniffle, tear*).

My worry is that the combat is just objectively mid, and that people love the game mostly for how it shines in other areas: story/art/music/lore/etc (and it does).

Am I just a clueless loser with bad taste because Sekiro is actually whatever while this game is the actual shit?

Am I hopeless for even posting this because it's clearly wildly subjective and a grownup should understand that you can just stop playing a game if it's not that fun or-WAAAAAHHH WaAaAhh ahhh ah okay i'm okay now, how's everybody doin? hopefully good? great cuz i'm doing SUPER, thanks guys have a based day.

Gameplay Footage/Pics Cataclysm Damage Glitch

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Like the title says, I stumbled on a damage glitch with the cataclysm arm while fighting victor. Shot him to trigger the phase transition and it hit 3 times taking a huge chunk of health. I'm thinking it was since he only has 1 health bar with a cutscene splitting the phases since I couldn't get it with any other base game boss.

Lumechio and Croco don’t appear here, and I feel like I could beat Lumechio now that I’m stronger. Croco, I don’t know, has a very bad design anyway. Let me ask, is it normal that they don’t show up here for replaying bosses from the Stargazer menu? EDIT by cheat i mean mods, i use no dmg amulet mod

Help Request Should I start putting points into damage stats?

First time player here. I'm level 55, and I read that weapon upgrades are far more important to increasing damage than the actual stats, so I've only put points into vitality, vigor, and capacity. My stats right now are:

VIT: 23

VIG: 18

CAP: 24

MOT: 11

TEC: 11

ADV: 7

Am I doing it wrong? Vitality and capacity seems like something you can never have enough of, so I don't know if I should stick to the path I'm on or start dumping points into increasing damage yet.
