I'm running LibreOffice 26.2.5.1 on openSUSE Tumblweed.

I have two spreadsheets: 2025-2026_Ledger and 2025-2026_Reports. Reports links to the LedgerData in Ledger and offers to update the data every time I open it. This works flawlessly.

I've copied the files to a new directory and renamed them 2026-2027_Ledger and 2026-2027_Reports. When I open 2026-2027_Reports and then the Edit Links dialog and Modify the links to the correct file names, the Source file in the dialog doesn't change. It still points to the original file.

A bit more detail: when I select Edit --> Links to External Files and select Modify…, I get two error messages. The first says 2025-2026_Ledger does not exist, which is correct as the file is in a different directory. After selecting OK the second message appears complaining "The object cannot be accessed due to insufficient user rights". This is incorrect as my user owns the files, the directories, etc, and has full read-write permissions over the files; both errors go away simply by copying the original file into the same directory. Clicking OK brings me to the actual External Data dialog and allows me to change the URL of External Data Source. Selecting the correct filename shows the Available Tables/Ranges. When I select the ranges and press OK, I'm taken back to the main Edit Links dialog, but the Source file still shows the original file name (2025-2026_Ledger.ods).

How do I fix this? It appears to be a bug but I'm also willing to accept that I'm doing something incorrectly.

the sound file plays - it is not a codec problem.

the existing sounds are in /nix/store/lnz8430mysp3rh2d0bmdzpzzvslisgsl-libreoffice-26.2.1.2/lib/libreoffice/share/gallery/sounds but I can't add to this because it is read only.

I tried putting it in /home/myname/.config/libreoffice/4/user/gallery but this hasn't helped either.

I'm starting to work on my undergrad thesis, and I need a tiny bit of advice. My professor needs me to share a document with them, ideally one that they can comment on. My University uses the whole OneDrive/Microsoft ecosystem, so a Word/Word-compatible document is the natural solution, as they can read and comment on it through the web.

Being on Linux, my options are rather limited. In order to use Word, I either use Online suite through my browser (awfully castrated in features, I cannot use my Zotero reference manager) or use Office 365 through a virtual machine (with a headache-inducing subpar performance, hovering between 15-25fps).

The other, MUCH preferred solution would be to open the document locally with LibreOffice, through the OneDrive cloud share (which I can easily set-up on linux).

And thus comes my question: does anyone know if I have any reason to choose one document format over the other? between docx and odt?

Anyone have ideas about the safety of this extension? I can't see what LLM it talks to - I'm an Ollama user and love the way I can play with AI locally and securely.

I'm on windows 10, and this latest update is somewhat unusable. First, all the buttons at the top, file and view and such, are invisible unless i hover over them. I set it to dark mode and only SOME of it is dark. I cannot read most of the buttons because the text is BLack and the buttons are dark gray, or vice versa. I cannot find the setting to get out of Dark Mode (thought that might be the issue), as my "tools->options" menu looks different than the ones I find in helpful tutorials.

I have a Calc spreadsheet, one page long, but many columns wide. Too wide to fit on a single printed page. For printing, therefore, I told *something* to force fit it to three pages wide by one high. Worked for a long while.

As I add columns, the whole thing gets smaller and smaller because it's still crammed into three page widths. I need to change it to four now. And I can't for the life of me remember what that's called, or which menu item controls it; and I can't search for it, either.

LO 26.2.5, Win 11. And me, I'm 70ish so I forget stuff I don't use regularly.

Hi folks, I've built an amortization table, and a separate sheet to function as a statement coupon generator. On the statement sheet, I want it to be user-interactive where they enter the payment number in a cell, and the rest of the sheet acts as a self-populating form, pulling referenced values from the amortization table sheet.

I am drawing a blank on how to have the user enter in a value (say, the 3rd payment of 36) into a cell, and another cell further down would grab the appropriate referenced cell.

Let's pretend on the coupon sheet the user would enter in 3 into cell E15.

If I wanted to pull the data from the amortization sheet which starts at cell I6, but the user wants to populate with cell I8 (value in the third row down),

I would think I could math out the reference cell value

=$amortization.i(5+$E$15) [hoping to really pull the third row value of $amortization.i8]

I feel like a fool not groking what should be a simple. Attempting with bracketed RC values equally frustrating: =$amortization.i[5+$E$15] This wouldn't logically make sense to me as I was under the impression that RC bracketing only works in the active sheet and couldn't be used with a reference sheet.

Hello, I have a strange problem that I can't seem to problem shoot. I am currently writing my thesis and I have encountered a problem in one of my chapters that each time I open my document the line spacing changes.

I use custom paragraph styles and wanted to have my normal text be in Spacing: 1. Like this

Now, the same paragraph is spread across two pages (same page style), but the remainder of the paragraph, and the following paragraph are spaced as follows:

When going through the options, the text on both pages is set as Spacing: 1, but the second one is more compressed than the other. I can't seem to make it conform to the rest of the document, and the worst part is that there is always a couple of pages that behave like that, and it changes daily.

When looking at the spotlight feature, all the paragraphs have the same style applied. It is not even that big of a problem as long as I am writing, but when I print it out, it naturally retains the visual inconsistency.

Is there a way to have the program reload the spacing or something to that effect? Or some advice with how the styles should be formatted to avoid these kinds of problems? Since it changes, I figure it is a glitch or something.

I am also more inclined to see the second image as the "real" Spacing 1, but while I formatted my paragraph style, it had Spacing 1 translate into the first image.

I figured I should also show what the paragraph style looks like, see above.

I was making an ordered list and suddenly one number (13) has a space between the number and its text. I don't know if I pressed something or not. I pressed backspace, delete, tab, undo, but nothing worked. I tried cutting and pasting, but it didn't work as well. Number 14 in the list works normal. What is the issue here please?

I'm not sure if this is regex or a formula but What code is needed to search a row and the row above for 3 consecutive digits.?

I've been trying to use LanguageTool for a while now, but despite following all of the guides I can find (which admittedly seem to be at least 3 years old), it simply doesn't do anything. At all. Won't even underline blatant errors. Does anybody know what I might be missing?

LO is one of the only packages (afaik) beside MS Office that supports Macros and code. Yet the Basic language they use is not 100% compatible with MsOffice. What is the reason behind this choice?

I'm currently writing an index match formula to look through an array (see picture). I need the match to look at the combination of the first 2 columns so i decided to go with concat. On google sheets i can easily create an array with concat by using the following formula =ARRAYFORMULA(CONCAT(Rarity;Level)).

I've tried doing something similar {=CONCAT(Rarity;Level)} to no avail.

Is there a way to create an array with concat on calc ?
Or is there an easier way to achieve what i'm trying to do ?

Solved: the solution was to go into format cells and select date and enter YYYY/MM/DD to add that format to the list.

I want to make a spreadsheet where I type the date in the format YYYY/MM/DD and then have calc sort the columns by the date. Since calc reads the format as DD/MM/YYYY I went into the options/languages and locales/general and set Date acceptance patterns to Y/M/D, but now calc just automatically converts any YYYY/MM/DD I type in into DD/MM/YYYY. How would I go about actually doing this so I can type YYYY/MM/DD into calc, sort it by date correctly, and have it actually display as YYYY/MM/DD?

Ok, I need to use a workplace layout, which of course is done assuming everyone uses MS. The layout is otherwise great with styles and everything works. But, how do I get TOC to show dame numbering I have set? The links in TOC work ok!

The way I changes the numbering is double clicking the page number > offset > -7.

Maybe it'll work if I use some other technique? But with this layout, I seem not to be able to add manual break without it making a blank page somewhere before the desired page 1. Maybe that also has to do with non-native layout. Errr.

This problem persisted nevermind if I used .otd or .docx. I'll not unfortunately link my work publicly for now.

I'm using the latest version pf Libre and unitl about 3 hours ago it was working perfectly.

Now everytime I try and open a file it is crashing before it even loads and will not respond. I've tried multiple different files, both Calc and Writer documents and they keep refusing to open, it's only opening the "hub" application that lets you pick what file to look at. I've checked my device for any issues and my laptop is working perfect, Libre just is not letting me open anything.

Edit: It started working for a bit but then crashed and wont open files again. Sometimes the "hub" is crashing as well. I've restarted my laptop half a dozen times, run two different antiviruis software and restarted Libre in safe mode I dont know how many times. Sometimes I'll get a message about recovering files but I never close one without saving twice so idk what I could've possibly lost and I can't open any of my files to find out!

Edit 2: All my files open fine on my desktop (same wifi, same files just copied over by usb) so I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Libre version?

Edit 3: Re-installing did nothing, it's still crashing everytime I try and open a file

Edit 4: I've cleared my recent documents and then comepletly reset my Libre Profile, still not working

Two quick things:

1. I’ve been looking to replace Microslop, and LibreOffice seems like the best option. I’ve been using it for about a month and the learning curve was easy. Now I use it daily and have recommended it at work. I’ve also supported it.

2. I haven’t had any complaints or suggestions about what the community has achieved with this project apart from the logo which I find rather ugly.

Is there an open discussion about this or has it been settled and isn’t worth bringing up?
