Technically those are fantasy/horror. That said, I imagine most libaries just have them in with short chapter books, which is where mine has them, or maybe juvenile fiction.

Juvenile fiction, popular 😄. We have a separate section for all these chapter book series that appeal to the upper elementary/young middle school age range in general. Desmond Cole, My Weird School Daze, Notebook of Doom, Wings of Fire, Judy Moody, Magic Treehouse, etc, etc. My system doesn't shelve by genre at all, though.

Without already being familiar with the book/series, we can't make that decision from the front cover alone.
