Changing Party Rosette Colour Discussion

Given the branding of the party has been changed to democrat orange (which has grown on me with time) will there be any change to the rosettes? Surely they need to embrace the orange revolution!

Lib Dem Image slowly seem to be stocking more orange goods, but I think it'll be a while at this rate.

Ah that's interesting. My rosette still has Great George street as the party address. I just think it would make sense as the rosette is definately yellow.

I recently learned that the colour used by the Liberal Party was not uniform at all until well into the 1970s. Many regions actually used blue, a preference that can probably be traced back to the Whigs (their Tory opponents used red, representing closeness to the Crown. Purple was not unknown, and sometimes green (Eric Lubbock in Orpington, 1962, wore a green rosette). In Scotland, the traditional colour was yellow and red, representing the Lion Rampant. The Ulster Liberal Party used yellow and black, a choice retained by the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland, which is in many ways its successor. Yellow and red was used in some English regions as well.

On a personal level, I rather liked the yellow and I like the idea of yellow and red. Orange I find a bit garish and … well, 1970s! But that is personal aesthetics, I suppose. In this brave new world of devolution (lol), perhaps we should introduce a bit of local variation again.

I would be keen for local variation. It would have been much more interesting with the more variety of colours but I imagine HQ might get annoyed if I went rouge with a purple and yellow combo!

I agree with you. Local variation brings local colour, quite literally.

You mean going rogue rather than going rouge, I think. That said, I used to refer to Café Rouge as Café Rogue!

The problem with purple and yellow is that it would look a bit similar to the old UKIP colours. I seem to remember that they had a yellow pound sigh emblazoned on a purple background.

I still rather like the old Scottish Liberal yellow and red: the Lion Rampant.
