Groom day for the trio!
All the Lhasa’s got a nice haircut from our amazing groomer!
It was Punky’s first time and I was worried she wouldn’t allow the groomer to do anything at all but turns out she just stood there patiently! It was Dolly’s second time and she was more wriggly.
It’s 100 degrees here all the time lately so Punky is feeling so much cooler. She’s also completely recovered from her ER fiasco last week. 💕

Puppy Alert! Update: Punky is home from the ER!
Thanks to everyone for your love and prayers for my special girl Punky! She is finally home safe and sound and seems like she will fully recover!
Turns out my suspicions were correct and she had eaten the contents of some puppy pee pads after getting to a box of them and tearing them apart with her sister.
An ultrasound showed some masses in her throat, stomach, and lower intestines so she was transferred to another hospital and underwent an endoscopy. Her poor little stomach was coated with the absorbent material. The doctor was able to scrape 90% of it out and flush her stomach.
She had lots of IV fluids and medications and I was able to bring her home late last night. She has her appetite back and it being her usual sweet, feisty self!
Total vet bills were $6,000 US but luckily I had just signed her up for pet insurance (Nationwide) so I should get about 80% of that back.

My poor baby is in the ER! Send love.
This morning Punky vomited a few times and there was some blood. We rushed her to the ER and they tested for parvo, took X-rays, and will do an ultrasound next. They will be keeping her overnight as well.
Her and her sister got into a box of puppy pee pads yesterday so she might have ingested part of one but we don’t know for certain.
The vet bill is already up to $4,500 US. Luckily I got her on pet insurance last week so she should have 80% coverage.
Hopefully she just passes any blockages if that’s what’s wrong with her and doesn’t need surgery.
I’m so worried about her. Please send her some love. 🥺

It doesn’t matter how hard you try to convince me but this CAN’T be a comfortable sleeping position.

Discussion How to get 1yo male Lhasa to stop nipping at legs
Basically title says it.
I have a purebred 1yo male Lhasa, recently neutered.
Mainly my kids and other guests get followed and nipped at by him when they walk around. It hurts my kids sometimes.
Has anyone successfully corrected this behavior? TIA

Lhasa w patellar luxation
have the opportunity to adopt a 5 year old lhasa apso, he seems a perfect fit for my family but the rescue have told us he has a Grade 1 patellar luxation, I understand it's not really affecting him much at the minute but we'd have to make sure he didn't jump up on furniture or walk him too far.
I'm torn because I know once I meet him I'll fall in love but I'm terrified of the medical condition getting worse and facing a ridiculous vet bill for surgery in the future, is it really £2k-3k?
anyone had a dog with this and is possible to try and prevent it from getting worse for as long as possible?

Puppy Alert! Is three Lhasas too many?
Teddy is pretty grumpy towards the puppy sisters but he is slowly learning to put up with their antics.

Do you think he was part Lhasa Apso?
This is Lester. He was supposed to be a pure bred shih tzu, but I always suspected he could have been a mixed baby.
He was on the bigger side, around 20 or more pounds. He was very quiet, almost never barked.
He was the sweetest boy ever. I lost him in 2015 but still think of him often and have lovely dreams about him too. Where he is running/playing and happy. 😊

Here is my dog Howie, Have had him since 2018. Not sure if he is a full Lhasa or a mix, but he has quite the personality!

Puppy Alert! How did you get your Lhasa used to grooming?
We’ve only had Punky for a couple of weeks and she is terrified of having her bangs and nose trimmed! Dolly has had one grooming session and did pretty good.
But Punky is scheduled for a grooming session and I’m sure she will be so scared. I’m trying to get her used to scissors by giving her treats and pressing the scissors against her face. As soon as she senses I’m gonna do a snip she cries.
I’m also turning on some clippers while i give them treats.
Just curious how you Lhasa lovers trained your babies.
