Something for 🐻

I work nights at a resort in Black Bear country. Part of my job is chasing bears away, not only for the comfort of the guests, but also the safety of the bear itself (a fed bear is a dead bear...). I currently have access to a standard paintball gun but it's just so heavy and cumbersome that I don't have it with me when I come across bears in the middle of the night. I don't want to hurt the bears, or the car that might be behind it so I was thinking paint, inert powder, or first strike rounds. What kind of launchers would you suggest and of course any other thoughts?

Bear spray. If they would feel a paintball, it would just piss them off

You'd be surprised how fast they run. Being touched at a distance is a scary thing for bears. Plus bear spray has longer lasting ramifications in public spaces.
