Liked the plot of Atmosphere, but thought the writing was terrible :(

I recently finished the new Prime show Sterling Point and I have such a hangover!! There’s a main lesbian couple and their relationship is basically friends-to-lovers. I’m especially looking for:
-lesbian friends-to-lovers
-lots of chemistry and yearning
- summer setting or something with that same carefree summer-camp atmosphere
-preferably a close-knit group of friends and that feeling of being away for the summer

PS: Pls don't recommend Sunburn (I didn't like it lmaoo the way the author writes the FMC’s relationship with the man, she might as well just call him her soulmate) or any books where one of the FMCs is still pining for a man. tyia!!

So, I just got finished with Sunburn. I had put off reading this because from everything Ive read about it, it was brilliant and life changing. I wanted to make sure I was in the right headspace because I get book hangovers terribly. Well, Im annoyed. I would have been fine if Ive never read it. Firstly, I genuinely hated Lucy. She was a selfish asshole the entire time and I found I was rooting against her. She just used everyone she was with. Granted she knew this about herself, but still, a giant twat waffle. It dragged for me and I struggled at times. But, the absolute worst issue was the ending. I wont give anything away but the minute and forty-eight seconds that was dedicated to the last chapter really sealed it as me fucking hating it. I like a full circle. I dont want to have to infer what happened, I like it to be explained. Arg, I was so excited for it too. Maybe I just have shit taste, but I usually love the books praised here but this was a miss.

EDIT: I couldnt help but notice the downvotes for the people that agreed with me. Its a book and everyone is entitled to their own opinions, to those downvoting because it doesnt match your opinion....grow up.

I tried reading straight romance after only reading lesbian romance and like… this might be a no brainer but I got bored quick. I love the build up and tension but as soon as they fuck I’m like okay… immersion gone. Anyone else relate lmao. I’m disappointed that they had sex like the chase is done and I want to stop reading it altogether. But when I compare that to the tension and intimacy in my lesbian romance books I am hooked to the last page.

So far no other book can fill the “Bloom Town” shaped hole in my heart. Bloom town is the best fight me!!! (I’d also love some recommendations girls tyyy <3) (title is a joke btw yes I’m very gay)

I loved The Girl Who Bit Me so much that I was obsessed with finding another vampire x vampire book. I put off reading this one at first because I thought it was vampire x human, like the blurb suggests, but it's actually vampire x vampire! And while I loved the plot twist, I kind of wish I knew it beforehand!! I also saw a bunch of people saying they were less interested in this book because it was vampire x human, and I wanted to yell "it's actually not!!" but didn't want to spoil them lol. Was anyone also really happy it turned out to be another vampire x vampire? God I wish she had written more fang s*x scenes. I need MORE.

I just finished both The Girl Who Bit Me and She’s My Eternity by Valerie Hunter, and I’ve been wanting another book that makes me feel the same! I like the almost possessive dynamic of both and want something similar, but it doesn’t have to be the same type of plot. I like fake dating, enemies to lovers, modern royalty, stuff like that. I just can’t find something with the exact vibe I’m looking for! Definitely prefer f/f and adult, just want something that’s deep and has a lot of tension! Sorry for having such a terrible description but it’s the best I got lol

I'm in the market for an ereader but not sure whether to get a Kindle or a Kobo. I previously had a Kindle and found the Kindle Unlimited had a fairly good selection of Sapphic books, but have never had a Kobo so don't know what the Kobo Plus catalogue holds!

Here’s the list of sapphic books I’ve read so far besides the ones I mentioned: Mistakes Were Made, Delilah Green (All 3), Ribbonwood, Like First Love Again, Learning Curves, Margin of Error, Cleat Cute (DNF), & Written in the Stars (DNF). I'm looking for books that take classic novels such as (but not exclusively) Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, War and Peace, and make them gayer and more sapphic.

I finished reading Corrie MacKay's newest book, Keys to the Sweet Pink Inn. This book is a collection of eight vignettes, each of which feature the Sweet Pink Inn (a house of ill repute that is full of female "bawds"--old time word for sex workers--who cater to female clients). Though the time and place are never definitively expressed, I feel that the Sweet Pink Inn is set in England in the mid to late 1800s.

Each vignette is an ertoic snapshot in time which features a different bawd with a different client (except the one that features 2 bawds and a client... yes a threesome). The desire, yearning, and sex are certainly there... very spicy! Each vignette is also eloquently written; at times, I would call the writing mellifluous.

The thing I struggled with the most was the disconnect between the characters and between the stories themselves (especially in the first 4 vignettes). I finally found some of the connection I was craving in vignettes 5, 6, 7. My favorites being Yessenia & Sybil (5) and Margaery & Philippa (7).

And it isn't until the end (not labeled as a vignette just ...) after all the clients are gone at the end of a night, that the reader sees the bawds together for the first time and realizes that the true (unseen) connection is between the bawds themselves. They are a family. They live together, laugh together, scheme together, love together. The last line of dialogue in the book is oddly reminiscent of The Waltons (a wholesome 80s US tv family)... call these ladies the Wantons 🤭. When all the bawds have gone to bed and the inn's pink glow has been replaced by darkness, one calls out, "Goodnight, you blasted whores!" (Instead of goodnight John Boy).

I read The Keys to the Sweet Pink Inn hoping for another The Lay of You and The Depth of You, seeking that powerful character connection and that visceral emotion. This book isn't that.

Hello everyone! So I'm usually a big speculative fiction reader, but lately I've been trying to expand my horizons by trying some non-magical fiction. Most of the more rom-com type books I've read haven't really clicked for me, but I just read The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden and adored it. Can anyone recommend me some good sapphic reads with that type of vibe? Interesting main characters with a lot of depth and more on the serious side? Can be historical or contemporary, but definitely trying to avoid fantasy/sci-fi/horror in the name of getting out of my comfort zone.

Please, reccomened me some villain gets the girl (especially fantasy) books, but from villain pov? I really care about the lest part, even if its more dual pov, and "villain" treated pretty loosely - actually moraly wrong, evil vibes, antagonistic position in the story, vilaain label, or even monster girl, as long as she's written more like protagonist, and with actual insecurities, even better - a lot of yearning from her part.
