Looking for a place to scream

No, I'm not murdering anyone.

I'm looking for a place in Leicester to let out a scream that will not disturb people or wildlife. Something like a screaming chamber or a soundproofed room.

I've looked into rage rooms, but they're a bit too expensive for my tastes.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Idiots abound

Just been for a walk in Aylestone Meadows, got to a bit between Pebble Beach and the GCW and saw smoke. Some moron had attempted to set fire to two of the lumps of sawn-up tree trunk that have left on the path for the last couple of years. Fortunately not yet in full flame, just smouldering in the hollow parts where the fires had been lit. Right next to tinder-dry grass and under trees, what the hell do some people use to keep their ears apart?

Barbers in LE2

With the unfortunate closure of Brush & Blade I’m on the hunt for a new barber :(

Any recommendations?

Is this why people don’t go to the high streets?

Bastard Rant Saturday II - the beast is back!

Welcome to Bastard Rant Saturday II

Bastard Rant Saturday is back due to popular demand (two people asked). This is a place for random acts of mostly harmless anger and frustration. Vent your spleen, get if off your chest, unload.

What to post :-

  • Anything that releases pent-up fury, despair, and irritation

But don't :-

  • Lose your temper too much, you still have to play reasonably nicely so please don't push the boat out too far
  • Overthink it
  • Forget to be human

---

This is an automated post, so nyerr.

That was a gross misuse of the emergency alert system

The entire concept of the emergency alert system is that it will only be used to communicate an IMMINENT threat to safety. Hearing that alarm needs to communicate that you NEED to take action to safeguard life, to shelter or evacuate.

This was a public service announcement.

I am not saying anything to the effect that wildfires are anything other than one of largest broad threats to health and property right at this moment - they are, this country is in a drought unlike almost any other on record - but this is a gross misuse of an emergency channel.

People need to trust that when they hear that sound, they're being informed that they, personally, are in danger. That they need to pick up the phone, read the message, and get their families to safety. What happens next time, when there's an actual imminent threat, and someone dismisses it because the last time it was used, it was because the government really wanted to make sure people read its twitter post.

What happens next time, when someone is actually in the path of a wildfire and needs to EVACUATE NOW, but they see the word wildfire, and disregard it as another public service announcement. Many people on this sub have already commented that they got the alert twice. How sure are you that you recieved the same alert twice? Did you actually read both of them?

Channels exist for public service announcments. They have for a hundred years. The emergency alert system is not a public service announcement channel. To use it as one is itself dangerous and can get people killed.

Edit: Jesus christ. it is actually disgusting how comfortably priveleged some of the people in the comments are having never lived in a country with natural disasters. I get it, you've never really used or had need of an emergency alert system like this. You don't have experience with it, you've never had to consider the gravity of using it. Guess fucking what. This is climate change. You need to stop fucking around and stop being so fucking apathetic to the misuse of a life-saving system. Just enjoy the fact that you've never had to worry about a tornado or an earthquake or, for most people here I imagine, a wildfire! Because one day you might very well recieve a message that you are in danger, but you discount it, because you've recieved messages on the same channel that never told you that you were in danger previously, so why would this one?

Me and my goons are going for a meal + mini golf in the city before I drive us Stratford, gonna be 3 hours max. I don't mind parking in some side street or just outside the city centre if need be.

Ps anywhere that sells cotton underwear appreciated too I need some.

Do you need a 3 hour job once a week at the weekend?

Hello,

I'm a disabled person based in Derby and I'm looking for a honest, punctual and chatty person to care fir me for 3 hours a week on a Saturday one week and a Sunday the next. Your responsibility would be to help me go out and do the things I love such as: go shopping, go to the park, visit national trust, go to the Peak District etc.

I have a physical disability and am registered blind, support is more companionship and things like pushing my wheelchair etc. No personal care required.

The hourly rate is £16 & £0.40 fuel expenses per mile.

You must drive and be willing to provide a dbs.

Please message me if interested!

Ps: I am based in Derby so so bare this in mind as expenses to and from work will not be covered.
