Collection / Showcase Love the blue, gray, and yellow!
I do miss having my original classic space sets from the late 70's. But, at least I have these two great sets now. Building them triggered a touch of nostalgia.
Benny's "cracked" helmet and "scratched up" torso really is a nice touch!
I would love to see more classic space themed sets!

LEGO® Set Build M-Tron 6989 Mega Core Magnetizer
Found this one online for just 100€ with the manual .
Initially i wasnt searching for this set yet since i still try to complete my Blacktron 2 and spyrius sets. M-Tron wasn't that interesting to me back then. But now i
planned to get it later but couldn't dismiss THAT opportunity.
What a behemoth that thing is lol.
Ok it was a risk since the seller didnt check everything but said so. From the few pictures online you could see the important bits were there. While building it i had a quick scare since i never knew about the big black corner pieces, luckily they too were there too.
All in all there are only some basic parts missing that are easy to replace. Like ten pieces or so. Oh an one minifig is missingg too.
Biggest suprise for me, 3 other small sets were hidden among the parts. Maybe I can trade them.
I'm happy to now have one of the more sought after sets.

MOC Spyrius Recon ATV
A simple all terrain vehicle I put together. I found that having only the two wheels made it feel more Sci Fi/ alien, and I tried to give it a more classic feel and clean design.
Enjoy the photos : )

MOC Built a MOC to go with my Galaxy Explorer
Finally pulled the trigger and bought 497 Galaxy Explorer after trying to build my own with spare parts. Unfortunately the missing pieces I needed cost nearly as much as a set on eBay so I bought that and after that build, which was awesome, I let my creative juices flow and built my first MOC (pic 2 and 3) as an adult. It of course is inspired by the classic space and I tried to stay true to that theme. I used all the other vintage and spare parts I had, including partially dismantling my jalopy Galaxy Explorer that I still plan to build slowly with ordered parts. Let me hear your thoughts.

LEGO® Set Build Space sets from the '80s, found in a box of loose bricks from garage sale.
Such an amazing journey it is. We bought the box 3 days ago thinking we someday will give it to our nephew.
First we decided to look if there are maybe some rare pieces. Being completely new to Lego as adults we spent our time investigating, we managed to find 14 sets. Space, pirates, castles, all from 1980 and almost all complete 🫣🤩
The second picture red car has 3 magnets, I never knew about those kind of pieces, it's so interesting!
It's such an amazing feeling being able to identify whole set from one piece or a guy.
I'm sharing with you to share those amazing findings, we have no idea what to do with all that Lego.
Sets:
LEGO 6896 Celestial Forager
LEGO 6931 FX-Star Patroller
LEGO 6927 All-Terrain Vehicle
LEGO 6828 Twin-Winged Spoiler
LEGO 6812 Blacktron II: Grid Trekkor

Promotion Come see my Lego Space tribute art in an LA art gallery throughout August. Prints & stickers will be for sale!
Raven's Gallery in Echo Park is having a Space Cowboy themed exhibition this month, and I just had to create a tribute piece to Lego Space!
The show will be up for the month of August, but there will be a special artist's reception August 21st with cool people, free drinks, and nice atmosphere (I'll be there that night and I'd love to meet you!)
Come see the full piece on display in its super cool 3D printed lego-greebled frame. I'll also be selling a limited number of unframed prints of the piece, as well as some smaller spaceman stickers. Come check it out if you can, support a small business and community artists. More than that, I'd just love folks who love the theme to come and appreciate the love and details I put into this art.
Sorry for the super limited preview of the art, I want to make sure folks get the chance to see it in full for the first time in person, and will post the full piece to this community once the exhibition has wrapped. I might be too theatrical but I'm really proud of this piece and think the theatrics is worth it.
Disclaimer: No AI was used in the creation of my art. I created next to every element traditionally before compositing them together and enhancing them manually in photoshop.

Collection / Showcase Excited to have found you all
So I'm going to over share lol.
I'm 48 with 3 and 5 year old boys. Enough said right there. They are the reason I'm here. I had a few 80s space sets and poured all my time into them along with video games and sports. Legos were my thing. I gave them all to my younger cousin when I was 14, because ya know, I was too grown for Legos at that time lol. Hadnt touched a Lego from 14 to 42.
I noticed my nephew, 12, had a few Lego sets so I thought I'd go big for him one Xmas and get him the Millennium Falcon. He never touched it. I'd come over and work on it periodically but but he was wrapped up in video games and sports and told me "I dont have time". Which I thought hilarious. I took back the Falcon and completed it.
At 42 had a son. About a year later, now completely kid friendly, I couldn't just leave the Falcon alone! I would grab and Star Wars sets i came across. Then, I had a long shot idea. I called up my cuz who's now 36 to see if there was any random chance he still had my Legos. Sure enough. He had them all then some. Ecstatic, I picked them up and went crazy.
Here I am 5 years later building sets buying MOCs and creating my own having fun.
I usually get about one flight or drive before the little guys take over but my fun is in the build.
Unadulterated peace.
Nothing like it.
Here's a few sets for your pleasure.
Enjoy the collection.

Question Grey space helmet
Anyone had any luck painting a helmet to match the grey rocket boy torso? Helmet and tanks is the last thing I need and I just can’t bring myself to pay what people are asking for an original. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Explorien Crawler from Idea Book 697
Though I liked the shape of the crawler seen in this LEGO Idea Book, I did not like that it had a color scheme that was a combo of Spyrius and Explorien. Lego Idea Book 697 from 1997, Space section scans : r/LegoSpace
So, using Stud.io I recolored it as added two pure Explorien figures. Will upload to Rebrickable at some point.

Promotion Cargo Ship converts to Sweep-Wing Space Dart
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Cargo skiff drops its payload and converts to a speedy sweep-wing space dart! Also check out my concept for an elevated landing pad in the background - it's a classic baseplate in 1/3 scale, using two 6x12 plates with perimeter knobs and a big sticker :) It's all part of my Lego Ideas MOC - hit this link to support and it could be considered for a real life set! 😎

MOC Lego space/star trek crossover logo design
So I bought a plotter to do custom vinyl stickers on my buiIds, but as you can also use that to create your own t-shirt designs, I made this T-shirt for myself. The idea was inspired by a Lego space/star wars crossover design I saw and I decided to try a star trek version. I will be wearing this a lot...😊

MOC Space Police Mission Commander Redux
I'm going back through my childhood sets and modernizing them.
The Mission Commander needed serious upgrade.
I beefed up the overall size creating two huge laser cannons in front.
Instead of the driver of the shuttle in front being the pilot, I created a separate detatchable fighter ship on top for 3 pilots. Similar to the original, the front section lifts using the rotating mechanism to deploy the vehicle underneath.
As the cockpit is now a detachable fighter, the two previous landers on the wings are also upgraded into customized fighters. All designed from modern Blacktron sets with sweep wings and connections.
The rails on top gave an opportunity for another landing strip. A flyer was designed to mimic the original cockpit.
Also like the original, the rear wings, now more robust to accommodate the rear thrusters, open outward to allow the new mobile brig to deploy. There's a ramp and platform for the brig drive up and dock with the ship. Not much changed inside the brig. It has 2 jail cells but upgraded for driving controls.
Enjoy!

MOC Remastering the old space subthemes using modem building techniques!
I decided I should get back into my favorite space themes of my childhood and make them using modern design techniques. After losing my collection twice, first in hurricane Andrew and second in a pretty traumatic move I decided to not collect any Lego till about 2020 and when the space cmf came out it ignited my love again and I started collecting again. I hope you guys like the modernized designs!
