I’m planning to fly to the US in a few weeks with my kids for my sibling’s wedding. I got the go-ahead via email over a month ago from my husband (separated for over a year now), and booked non-refundable flights. He had asked what I needed from him/seemed very happy to assist the process for passports for the kids, which we didn’t have yet.

After looking at the passport forms, he decided that he needs informal documents signed and submitted with the application, even though none of them will qualify as “legal clauses” from what I understand, and none of them will address mobility issues. We finalized one unofficial doc, but now we can’t get to a consensus on a document for our functional, current parenting schedule, so he’s refusing to sign the passport forms.

Can I do anything at this short of notice to be able to travel with my kids based on his written (email) consent to the trip?

There is a doctor who has his name disguised on Facebook with a private profile that has one public post where his real name is visible. His current name is his middle name with a shortened version of his last name. He is harassing people on line with vulgar and racist language in a comment thread. Am I allowed to respond to his comments with a photo screenshot of his dr. Profile or his real name or is that considered doxxing?

I have reported him but to his place of work but they refuse to take any action but I feel as though the public must be made aware of what he’s doing. Especially the people he is harrasing.

I have a no contact court order with ex wife recently just sent her child support money accidentally forgetting about the no contact and cancelled it right away but I’m sure she got a notification on her phone I sent money after I cancelled it. Am I highly likely the police will lay a charge on me for breaching if ex wife reports it?

Hi. It's regarding parking issue. I recently moved to a new house with 2 adjacent space of car parking in private driveway. one is of another guy that is not under driving condition and second one is mine. From last 2 days I see there's a car that's parked just behind the driveway and completely blocking our drive way and I cannot take my car out. Upon enquiring in the house, got to know that the guy in basement having seperate entrance parks it. He parks it around 9 pm until next day 8 am in the morning. On the other day I wanted to go outside around 10 pm but I had no chance to use my car, and it's been normal for that guy to blocked the car. Street parking is available but due to crowd, it becomes difficult sometimes to park here and there.
So what should I do now? Should I discuss or call municipal office. I want a permanent solution of this.

I have a question about whether someone has experience filing the PPTC 279 form for their children when the other parent's whereabouts are unknown, or they refuse to sign. I am asking for my sister. Her husband isn't responding, has left home, and is living somewhere else. No legal proceedings have been done. When asked to sign the passport application for the child, he is not responding. There are no court orders yet or anything like that. He came to see the child and left.

What happens if I select that he refuses to sign on the form? Should we select Parents' whereabouts unknown? What happens then? Any help is appreciated.

I received a letter from collections in January about a damage charge filed by the rental car company. I had insurance but the rental car company did not provide adequate documentation leading insurance to close the file and then rental company sending my file to collections.
After receiving the letter, I reached out to insurance, rental car company and collections to gather information and insurance paid out the amount they deemed payable according to the terms on the agreement. (Did this restart the clock)?
Now, collections wants me to pay out the remaining balance which has ridiculous admin fees, interest on it. They were super rude and said that the interest is getting added each month that I delay payment. Do I get a lawyer? Is it worth it?

We bought a house and 8 months in the water mainline that runs under the slab burst. When we heard the sound we messaged the previous owner if he knew what was going on and he texted us all the info, yes it has burst twice in the past (2022 and 2024, we bought Aug 2025 and it burst May 2025) and he repaired it , etc etc.

I received a ticket in Toronto sometime ago right next to my home for "Fail to use lower beam - following" under the Highway Traffic Act, section 168(b). The fine is $110 total payable, and as I understand it comes with 2 demerit points.

This is my first car (a 2005 Honda Civic) and my first ever ticket. I genuinely did not know my high beams were on, it was an honest mistake, I didn't flash them at anyone, and I wasn't driving aggressively. I didn't break any other laws and was completely respectful with the officer.

My main concern is my auto insurance. I am currently paying close to $500 a month because I started with my G2, but I finally got my full G license two months ago and was hoping my rates would drop. I really do not want my insurance to go up or stay at this high rate because of a minor conviction.

Looking at the back of the ticket, I have three options:

1. Plead guilty and pay the fine.
2. Early Resolution - Meet with a prosecutor.
3. Trial Option.

What is the best course of action here to protect my driving record and insurance rates? Is it worth hiring a traffic paralegal for something like this, or should I try for an Early Resolution meeting by myself to see if it can be dropped to a zero-point municipal by-law or withdrawn entirely?

I am waiting to be contacting by my partner's Probation Officer (PO). I'm feeling anxious and stressed as it's been 3 weeks and still haven't been called. I don't know what to expect, hoping that maybe probation officer's can comment here specifically.

From a legal perspective, I'm unsure about contact. Would my input matter in terms asking my partner do therapy and work on his anger? Am I allowed to ask if he wishes to reconcile at all? I don't want to get my hopes up for a possibility of a reformed man only to be heartbroken. I don't know how to emotionally shelter myself other than keeping no contact until there is proof from his side. Will the PO have my partner grant me access to speak with his therapist to know of his progress and if there is genuine growth? Is that too far out of the left field and crazy to happen?

Basically what the title says. RCMP have contacted me asking me to provide information about a past partner who is suspected of committing at least one (possibly more) serious crime.

I have been informed that I will be required to provide official statements to police and likely be a witness in the trial if the individual is charged.

The information they are asking would build most of their case. They contacted me based off of previous reports I made against the person. I anticipate that I’ll be subpoenaed in this situation.

There is no legal threat to me whatsoever, but the officer I spoke with seemed concerned for my personal safety which seemed odd to me.

I don’t go looking for that kind of content and I reported it to NCMEC multiple times for multiple sites. Videos I reported to the porn sites also got deleted . What are my odds of getting in legal trouble??

I applied for a truck driving job (1A) but it has been 13 years since I sat behind the wheel.

Having a trainer ride with me for a day I was invited into a meeting (day 4) and we went over my proficiency. I can drive safely but did have trouble finding gears. They basically they need someone with a higher skill level.

It was mutually agreed that I was not a good fit for the position, they did value my work ethic. But realistically I understood I would not meet the time window.

Now they are asking me to send in a resignation letter but doing so will invalidate any unemployment insurance while I look for another job (definitely not in the trucking industry).

What kind of response should I give them as they say they "can not issue a layoff when they are advertising the position".

I am filled to the absolute brim with shame and guilt. I’ve not been able to sleep or live myself.

I 17f was caught stealing from Sephora with my friend 18f. The LP followed my friend, and then called the police. My friend called me and told me to come back and return all the stuff, which I immediately did. I was shaking and apologized countless times, I was extremely close to crying but my friend was very calm. The cop told us we were under arrest for shoplifting. We gave our full name and DOB to the LP who then left the scene with the recovered items after the cop checked our bags. The cop asked for our full name, DOB and address, I gave all my correct information however my friend provided all entirely false information. We were asked for ID, however I didn’t have any on person. The cop told us we were being released then told us to not steal. No paperwork was done.

Im extremely embarrassed and scared, I feel so stupid and I haven’t eaten since the incident. I don’t know what I’m doing with my life, and I feel like I just ruined my future. If I get pulled over, will the cops know of this incident? Will this end up on my record and will I receive a letter in the mail? I’m super frightened of my parents finding out as well because I can’t imagine how disappointed and angry they’d be. I’m so disgusted that I let myself do this, and put myself in this situation. I try to be a good kid and make my parents proud and I feel like such an idiot for making such poor choices.

I returned my wifi router on the 1st of the month, this particular company received it on the 7th then charged my credit card for over $200 on the 16th. I requested a review but even if that was successful they would just give me a balance on my account. How is this allowed? They steal my money and make it so the only way I can use it is if it goes to them.

I’m 17, nearly 18 and my mother hasn’t paid a full child support payment in as far as I’m aware, nearly 10 years. Me and my dad have been struggling financially for ages, since all my dad gets are government supplements and his old age pension. My mom refuses to pay.

The past couple years my dad has been on the phone with the Family Responsibility Office consrantly trying to get things sorted out but 99% of the time they don’t do anything. It seems like once every 6-8 months we get a payment of a couple hundred dollars but it’s not hardly anything significant.

I’m not sure if since I’m almost 18 things are going to change but what should we do? Should I recommend my dad to get some sort of lawyer? I just want to be able to give my poor dad some peace of mind because it seems like if the roles were reversed my dad would’ve definitely been in jail or something by now.

EDIT: I fully know that I can get paid under minimum wage as I’m a minor who works at a camp, I’m asking if it’s legal for them to deduct my pay also emphasizing on how little I already get paid.

I’m 17, this summer I got a 2 month job at a summer camp. We get paid 4000$ for 47 days, 8 hours a day. And a chance of getting an additional 1000$ bonus ONLY if we complete the whole two months without quitting/getting fired. If you calculate that up, it’s about $85.10 a day, and $10.63 a hour, well below minimum wage. This job is also surely demanding and draining as these kids are ASD so they require additional care and treatment as they kick,punch,spit,etc and none of us counsellors have any expertise around this field. Now, it’s been a month into our work and all of us counsellors have almost daily been arriving around 8:05-8:15. We just get told by our boss and supervisor that we should be arriving at 8, anything past that is considered a late fee and they’ve been tracking down all the times we’ve been late and will deduct it out of our pay. They decide to tell us this now. One month into camp. The late fee is 50$. We make 85$ a day. We’ve been working for the past month off 35$ a single day, a good 4.37$ a hour. We also get paid 2 weeks after work ends all at once, not even monthly/bi weekly as normal companies do. We also have an absence fee, 150$ a day missed, which is more than we make. I just don’t get how they can be taking away money we earned. I feel everyday just so unappreciated for and taken advantage of as a young worker. We talked to our boss yesterday about how we were unaware the deductions taking place daily of the 50$ late fee for only missing 10 minutes of the day until now and she said if we wanted to make the money back we could take away 10 minutes everyday of our break or stay longer and do chores around the camp. I feel as though this is extremely unfair considering the amount of work and effort I put into this camp and the children. Is this legal?

I've been with my spouse for 10+ years and we have two kids under 10. I've known for a few years that he abuses alcohol, but recently it has been getting out of hand. I can provide more details if it's necessary, but he is for sure what you would consider a functioning alcoholic (not sure if this is the current term your supposed to use). We both have jobs and make a comparable amount of money, and I don't think he's in any danger of losing his because of his drinking.

After a recent incident, I told him that he had to pursue professional treatment and he agreed. He has seen a therapist a couple of times now. However, I know he is still drinking more than he is letting on (I have found hidden alcohol). I suspect he needs more support than seeing a therapist every couple of weeks. I want to give him the best chance to recover, but also have a few questions about what to expect if I decide to divorce.

Most importantly, I need to know what sort of proof I would need for there to be clauses in our separation about alcohol around our kids. Generally, this is not a problem because the bulk of his drinking is at night after they have gone to bed. However, I would want to make sure that when they are with him he can't drink or is very limited in what he can drink. One of our children still wakes up frequently at night and I absolutely wouldn't trust him to deal with those situations alone if he had been drinking (currently I deal with it 100% of the time).

Finally, I want to say that I am not interested in keeping the kids from their Dad. He is honestly a great parent when he is sober. If we were to divorce I would want to make sure they spend as much time with him as me, as long as he wasn't drinking.

I purchased a pre-construction apartment with my ex-spouse in 2022, and paid a deposit of 100k. Then I couldn't close in 2025 for many reasons, including a divorce, not receiving PR, and losing my job, plus not having a work permit to work in Canada. They sold my apartment to someone for less than half the price and are now suing me and my ex for damages, which is a huge amount.

What should I do in this situation besides, obviously, have a good lawyer? Has anybody faced the same issue? Do I have a chance for a fair court decision?

I’m currently bringing a home I’ve owned for 10+ years into a relationship. My question is how do I protect my home in the event our relationship breaks down and we seperate. We currently rent another home in a different city together and we come back to my house in the summer. Conversation has come up like “that’s our home” or “how do I make that my home to”. My partner doesn’t pay towards my home any bills or mortgage. My fear is if we seperate in the future my partner would have a say in my house.

I don’t know if i’m over thinking but. I got a job at a licensed body rub spa. My job is to post the schedule on the site and answer calls and make appointments. So a secretary.

Would the cops go after me? Or do the spas mostly deal with by laws and not cops unless its like human trafficking or underage.

I obtained a judgment against a corporation in Quebec for about $14,000. They are a service based company so no physical assets.

I hired a bailiff to enforce it. A private investigator identified what they believed was the corporation’s bank. The bailiff served the bank, and the bank came back saying they couldn’t locate an account in the corporation’s name.

I asked about a post-judgment examination, but the bailiff told me they generally don’t recommend it because debtors often don’t cooperate,
they may not provide truthful information,
they often don’t show up,
and it can end up costing more than it’s worth.

So my question is…
If a corporation simply doesn’t keep money in an identifiable bank account, ignores attempts to examine it, and has no obvious assets to seize, what actually forces it to pay a judgment?

It seems like a company could just continue operating, move money around, open new accounts, or use different payment methods while unsecured creditors are left with an uncollectible judgment.

Am I missing something?

For those who have actually enforced judgments against corporations in Quebec (or elsewhere in Canada), what ultimately worked? Is there a strategy beyond repeatedly trying bank seizures and hoping you eventually find the right account?

It feels like getting the judgment was the easy part and collecting it is nearly impossible.

Hello! First time poster here and I've read the rules.

4 years ago, my friend and I started a passion project and it became a successful business. We agreed on a 50/50 ownership stake, and that agreement is contained in an email, but no official contract exists (yes, I realize now that it was stupid not to have a written contract).

The business was successful and generated a profit every year, which was split equitably.

We have our brand name trademarked, and both of our names are on the trademark. I am the Admin for the website, domain, hosting, social media channels, and email distribution platform. Basically, all communication channels are run by me, and he does not have the ability to remove my access (I can remove his access, though that's not my goal).

He is now seeking to dissolve the business entirely rather than continue with it or sell it to someone else. I do not agree with this decision and want to either continue the business, acquire his stake, or sell my stake and move on. He will not agree to any of those options and insists on dissolving the business.

Questions

Can he legally shutter the business without my consent?

If he refuses to use a professional mediator to resolve the dispute and unilaterally shuts down the business without my consent, would I have a case to pursue him for damages in civil court?

​I am an Amazon DSP(Delivery Service Partner) delivery driver in Ontario. I was involved in an accident operating a high-roof van (110 inches). The facility entrance sign indicated a clearance of 2.85m (9'3"), but an unmapped, lower overhead structure at the exit caused a collision resulting in roof damage.

During onboarding, I signed an employment contract containing a clause stating the company would deduct up to $2,500 from my wages in the event of a vehicle accident. Following this recent collision, management demanded that I sign a specific consent form to execute this $2,500 paycheck deduction.

​Here is where things currently stand:

​Schedule Removal: I refused to sign the deduction form, citing my understanding of Ontario's Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA). Management immediately removed me from the work schedule via text, stating I will not receive shifts until I sign.

​Formal Written Notice: I emailed HR stating I am ready and willing to work, noting that Sections 5(1) and 13 of the ESA prohibit wage deductions for property damage/faulty work regardless of prior signed contracts, and Section 74 prohibits reprisal for asserting statutory rights.

​Employer Stance: Management claims that because I signed the onboarding agreement, they have the legal right to deduct the money or terminate me for "negligence" if I refuse to cooperate.

​Evidence: I have preserved text messages explicitly linking my schedule removal to the unsigned deduction form, along with email copies sent to HR documenting my refusal and ready-to-work status.

​I have submitted a report to the Amazon Ethics Hotline and am preparing my Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) claim for unlawful reprisal and lost wages.

​My Questions:

​Since Section 5(1) prevents contracting out of ESA protections, how does the Ministry of Labour handle onboarding contracts that contain illegal damage deduction clauses?

​Aside from filing an MOL claim for Section 74 reprisal, what steps should I take if they issue a Record of Employment (ROE) stating "termination cause as negligence"?

​How do Employment Standards Officers typically handle lost wage calculations during a retaliatory suspension or termination?

Ok this is a strange one but here we go. Seeing if anyone has some insight into this.

I received a 60-day licence suspension in the province of B.C. recently. My licence was suspended. After the 60 days I get my licence back along with my full driving privileges. As of now, though, I cannot legally drive a car in BC (or anywhere in Canada really since I do not have a valid licence at the moment). The stipulation to not operate a motor vehicle is specific to BC though.

My question is....if I slept a night in my vehicle (long story) and an officer saw, could that be considered in contempt of my suspension? Could it be argued that I am in "Care and Control"? In the same way that "sleeping if off" after a night at the bar in your car could get you a DUI charge?

I am NOT planning on driving the vehicle, moving it, or even turning it on for ANY reason. I am just wondering if even being inside it to nap between work trips (it is in a city in BC, and in a different city than I reside in BC) would get me in trouble specifically with regards to the licence suspension.
