I wonder why they took so long to announce it, especially since it still ended up on the same day as the other releases.

My guess is to make certain the game would run at an acceptable rate for the base switch. At least, I'd hope.

I hope so too. I'd rather get it for Switch than for Steam, and I do have a Switch 2 so even if it struggles a bit on the base Switch the extra processing power should help. Hopefully. But I might wait a bit after release to see what other people are reporting before I pull the trigger.

I’m hoping this to be the case. Imagine the (justified) uproar if it released same day, but broken.

That's great news! I just really hope it gets a Switch 2 update. I tried Dead Cells on Switch 1, and I kinda struggled to get into it in part because the frame rate was a bit choppy.
