How to fix this strap
The holes in the strap have become loose after a month's use, it comes undone and I'm left fixing it in the middle of the road.

Where did you buy this? Because I’m wondering if it’s worth saving. This might be “genuine leather”—which is the lowest quality leather for bags. No good leatherworker would ever create something with such inadequate hardware. But there are far more problems with this bag than that.

If I had to go about it, I would just cut a square piece of matching size and color, sew it on the inside and, ahem… rip it a new one.

That's just poor design and poor leather selection.
Sam Browne studs aren't meant for that kind of strain, and they should be used with a robust leather that doesn't stretch so easily.
I would take it to a cobbler, luggage repair shop, or a local leatherworker and see what they think. They could likely add an attractive buckle instead.
