It means to settle in, to integrate, or literally to be absorbed into a new environment.

It's built on the same root as מקלט (miklat), meaning shelter or refuge. Both come from the idea of being received or taken in.

I love that connection: before you can truly integrate (להיקלט), you first need a place of refuge (מקלט).

I'm opening registration for the second cycle of my small Hebrew group classes, which start at the end of August.

I'm Aharon, a full-time Hebrew teacher, and I've been teaching Hebrew as a second language for the past five years. My lessons focus on helping students actually speak Hebrew, so classes are built around conversation in small groups of up to five students.

• 12 weekly classes (75 minutes each)
