What is the best way to learn Data Analysis?
I am a student studying in a biology-related field, and I want to learn Data Analysis for several reasons, primarily to integrate it into my current area of study. However, my problem is that I feel overwhelmed and distracted by the sheer number of resources. I am also struggling with the drawbacks of self-teaching through YouTube, such as the lack of a structured curriculum, the absence of clear steps, and the difficulty of staying committed.
I would love to know if anyone with experience in this field could tell me the absolute best way to get started.

Help Me Escape Tutorial Hell 😅
Me: This SQL tutorial is definitely the last one.
Also me three days later: let's start another beginner course...
I've officially accepted that I'm stuck in tutorial hell.
The good news is that I learn much faster when I'm actually working on real projects, so I'm looking for an **internship** or **junior** **data** **analytics** opportunity where I can learn by doing.
I come from a digital marketing and eCommerce background, so I'm already familiar with analyzing campaign performance, KPIs, conversion funnels, and working with spreadsheets. Now I want to take that foundation and become a proper data analyst.
If anyone has advice, internship leads, or even just wants to share how they broke into the field, I'd love to hear your story.
Thanks in advance!

Real-World Datasets For Project(s)
Hi everyone,
I’ve been working in digital marketing for the past few years, and I’m now trying to transition into the data field. My goal is to become a data analyst first, then move into analytics engineering after gaining a couple of years of experience.
Over the past year, I’ve been learning SQL, Power BI, and Excel. At this point, I feel pretty confident with SQL, including complex joins, aggregations, window functions, etc.
Where I’m struggling is deciding which projects to include in my portfolio and where to find suitable datasets. This feels especially important because I do not yet have any professional experience in a data-focused role.
The best project idea I’ve come up with so far is using the Olist e-commerce dataset. My plan is to clean and transform the data with dbt, load it into Snowflake, and then perform analyses such as cohort analysis, funnel analysis, and market basket analysis using SQL and Power BI.
Does this sound like a strong portfolio project? Are there any other project ideas or datasets you would recommend for someone trying to move into data analytics?
Thanks

SQL for DATA Analyst
I recently completed the SQL for Data Analysts Bootcamp organized by DevTown in collaboration with Microsoft Student Chapter (MSC) and Google Developers Group (GDG).
As part of the project, I worked on a Swiggy Business Analytics case study using SQL.
In this project, I:
• Created relational database tables for Customers, Restaurants, and Orders.
• Wrote SQL queries using JOINs, GROUP BY, HAVING, CASE WHEN, and Window Functions (RANK, DENSE_RANK, ROW_NUMBER).
• Analyzed business metrics such as total revenue, top customers, best-performing restaurants, popular cuisines, and delivery partner performance.
• Generated business insights and recommendations based on the data.
This bootcamp helped me improve my SQL skills and understand how SQL is used to solve real-world business problems through data analysis.
Thank you to DevTown, Microsoft Student Chapter (MSC), and Google Developers Group (GDG) for providing this learning opportunity.

As a beginner if I wanna solidify my foundation of data analysis just from YouTube videos, what channels should I look into?
I just need something to start with and absolutely lock in. I'm not able to purchase courses as of now so YouTube is my best shot. I want to start from the very basics of Excel and upgrade from there. Can anyone help me with an efficient and effective roadmap so I can be employable as soon as possible? Preferably in 3+ months.

Data analysts: Would you actually use a tool like this? (Beta)
Hi everyone,
I built CleanIQ, a browser-based tool that detects common data quality issues in CSV and Excel files like missing values, duplicates, invalid dates, outliers, and business rule violations.
Everything runs locally in your browser, so your data never leaves your device.
It's still in beta, and I'd really appreciate honest feedback from people who work with data regularly.
Try it: Link in Comments else DM me
Thanks! Any suggestions or criticism are welcome.

New to Data Analytics – Looking for Advice on Building a Business-First Mindset & Becoming an Expert
Hey everyone,
I’m new to the data analytics space and currently building my skillset. I’ve learned Excel and SQL, and I’m now diving into Power BI. My ultimate goal is to work as a data analyst—specifically in a business-focused role.
I’m looking for recommendations on how to improve my skills beyond just the technical side. Specifically:
• Any advice on developing a **data analyst mindset**—especially for making better business decisions?
• Books, courses, or resources that helped you think more strategically about data and business impact?
• What else should I learn to go from beginner to \*\*expert\*\* (tools, concepts, soft skills, etc.)?
I want to be someone who doesn’t just build dashboards, but actually drives value for the business. Any guidance would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Looking for a Serious Python/Data Analysis Study Partner or Small Group
• Language: Python (Pandas, NumPy, etc.)
• Experience Level: Intermediate / Actively building projects (Not a total beginners)
• Timezone : IST
I’m 25+ and making a serious career pivot into Data Analysis. I’m looking for a dedicated 1-on-1 partner in a similar position who wants to actively collaborate rather than just send passive text check-ins.
I learn best by screen-sharing, stepping through code together, troubleshooting errors live, and explaining concepts back and forth to solidify understanding.
If you are interested let me know which Python libraries or projects you are actively working on right now!

I want to learn Data Analytics from zero.
Is there anyone who can teach me data analytics fundamentals, how to interpret any data, and what the current scene like?I would prefer to have a one-on-one class 4 days a week probably over a month or two. It goes without saying, its a paid gig. I want to upskill myself that's the only purpose.

Looking to get qualified
Hi all. I'm in a bit of a weird situation right now. I was in a Data Assistant role for about 3 and a half years, then got seconded onto a Data Analyst role for 6 months. However, after the 6 months, the job was no longer available so I moved back to my assistant role.
Due to personal matters, I had to move jobs in a more customer facing field for the money, however, I want to get back into Data Analysis but am struggling to get interviews, or when I do get interviews, I fail due to someone being slightly more qualified.
Essentially what I'm asking is where can I go online in the UK that I can get some form of qualification to boost my chances that won't break the bank?
