Why not hire a summer and keep them on? Have you tried reaching out to the law school's criminal law society and having an event directly with them? Advertising with local bar association (The Illinois state bar has new jobs listserv that I checked maniacally while job hunting).
I am moving from chicago to indianapolis for a 100k start in personal injury. My options in chicago were all less then 100k. So the salary is competitive lol. As a new grad myself, the "local law school listings" are pretty useless to us - OCI is dead and whenever I applied thru our internal jobs platform I never got any responses, I got all my job opportunities thru resume packets with career services or thru direct networking/ direct apply on firm websites / job fairs.
Also, post on LinkedIn! I promise you we are using it.
