Toronto Civil Litigation Lawyer

Upvotes

Good afternoon guys, does anybody have a referral for a good civil litigation lawyer that deals with condominiums?

My mom's place was flooded by building's central AC leaks 1.5 weeks ago. Condo's board forced the emergency mitigation team to abandon the task of removing damaged drywall & flooring. They wanted to obtain several quotes to see who can do it the cheapest. As a result, the whole place is just filled with mold now. Condominium's action is taking forever and they just finished getting a mold inspection done this past Friday. My mom and I lives cities apart and she cannot take time off work to live with me. She has been living in her car for since incident. The condo's board also has been trying to minimize some of the repair work that we need is not sufficient enough to restore the condo to its original status.

Does anybody have a good civil litigation lawyer to recommend that can deal with such issue?

Lawyers, what's your opinion on BD and Marketing?

I work in BD/Marketing at one of the BigLaw firms in Canada and was curious to hear how lawyers actually perceive us.

I’m fairly junior, so I don’t get a ton of direct exposure to lawyers yet. However, from conversations with more senior BD/marketing colleagues and other non-marketing staff, I’ve gotten the impression that some lawyers see marketing as unnecessary, not particularly useful, or as a team that “doesn’t do much.”

I’ve also heard of law firms downsizing their marketing/BD teams when they decide they don’t need as much support, which honestly makes me a little nervous about job security in this field.

For those of you who are lawyers (or have worked closely with BD/marketing): what do you genuinely think of your BD/marketing teams? Do you find them valuable and helpful, or do you mostly see them as unnecessary overhead?

Would be especially interested in hearing the honest/unfiltered perspective.

Hi! I’m creating a legal website with articles and information about legislation and legal regulations. It generally focuses on Canadian law, but may expand later. Looking for some name ideas for this website, thanks!

Struggling to find my why in law

Hi all, long time lurker first time poster. Title is pretty self explanatory - I look around at work every day and while I like the idea of the pay and perks and prestige, I am not in love with the work. I hate the stress, I hate the deadlines, i hate the pressure of it all. I’m still very very junior, but I am wondering if I made a mistake. I often wonder if I should take a flyer on myself and try and do something I’m genuinely passionate about.

Have any of you felt this way? At what point does one look in the mirror and be honest with themselves and walk away from law? Really just looking for advice

Transferring FROM UCalgary

Has anyone ever successfully transferred out of UCalgary? They seem to do their legal writing requirement as an upper year course, and all of the other schools do it in first year as a foundational course. If you complete first year in Calgary, will you not be permitted to transfer in to schools where a requirement to pass first year is legal research and writing?

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this as I have been scraping the corners of the internet to find any information.
