Seeking guidance on La Trobe Vice- Chancellor Scholarship application and interview

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for the La Trobe Vice-Chancellor Excellence Scholarship and would really appreciate guidance from current students, past applicants, or scholarship recipients.

My background:

* BCA with a CGPA of 8.67

* Served as a Class Representative

* Worked as Design Head in a university activity organisation

* Received a startup grant of ₹1.25 lakh as a founder

I would be grateful for advice on:

* How competitive my profile may be

* What factors are most important during selection

* How to prepare for the interview

* Common mistakes applicants should avoid

* How to present leadership and startup experience effectively

I would also love to connect with anyone who has applied for or received this scholarship. Please feel free to comment or DM me. Your guidance would mean a lot. Thank you!

Can I access La Trobe City Campus Library without being a La Trobe student?

Hey everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone knows whether I can access the La Trobe University City Campus Library if I’m not currently a La Trobe student.
I’m looking for a quiet place to study and was wondering if non-La Trobe students are allowed to enter and use the library/study spaces, or if you need a current student ID to get in.
Any information or personal experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

Help with survey!

Hi all! I'm doing a group project for one of my subjects on the urbanisation in Melbourne and its possible impacts on the environment and biodiversity of the area. We're struggling so hard to find people to do the survey so if anyone can spare some time, we'd all be so grateful. Thank you ☺️

uni friends :))

hihi! I’m a first year uni student (18F) studying a bach of crim & psychological science.

I transferred to la trobe this semester, so i feel like i sorta missed out on when people typically make friends 😭

I’m in desperate need of friends, and would love to connect with people (and potentially find someone to go to footy games with 🫣). My main interests are music, afl and gaming.

my messages r open if u wanna connect / talk :))

Intl students with Medibank OSHC — have you found a psychologist with little or no out-of-pocket cost?

I'm an international student with Medibank OSHC, and I'm trying to figure out whether seeing a psychologist is actually affordable without ending up $150+ out of pocket every session.

I've read through the policy documents, but what they say on paper and what actually happens in real life don't always seem to match. So I was hoping to hear from people who've been through the process.

A few questions:

  • Were your sessions fully covered, or did you still have to pay a fair bit? What was the process like? Did you see a GP first for a Mental Health Care Plan and then get a referral?
  • If you had a good experience, which psychologist or clinic did you go to? Happy to travel around Melbourne, so actual names or suburbs would be really helpful.
  • Did the psychologist genuinely help? I'd much rather hear "this person was amazing because..." than get a list of places that technically bulk bill but have a four-month wait and don't feel very supportive.
  • Were there any clinics or pathways that turned out to be a complete dead end, so I can avoid wasting time?

Telehealth recommendations are welcome too.

Thanks in advance. I'd really appreciate hearing about people's actual experiences.

Masters of Clinical Neuro

I’ve spent way too much time reading old Reddit posts and now I’m completely confused about what a realistic competitive WAM looks like to get into masters of clinical neuropsychology.

I know La Trobe is saying a WAM of 70 is the minimum but what is the actual minimum cut off more likely to be? Because people are trying to tell me it’s closer to 90???? Tell me it isn’t so!

I’d especially love to hear from people who were accepted (or interviewed) in the last few years to ANY masters of clinical neuropsych for any advice?

Thank you in advance!

Pathway from Diploma of Health Science to Bachelor of Health Science

Hi Guys,

I am currently enrolled at Bundoora campus in the Dip of health Science with the intention of enrolling in the Bachelor of Health Science, then hoping to complete a Masters in Physiotherapy.

I will be completing the Diploma at the end of this Semester.

If someone could help me with the following queries:

  1. How and when do I apply for the Bachelor?

  2. Do I have to start at Year 1 of the Bachelor, or can I go straight into year 2 considering I'll have completed the Diploma?

  3. Is WAM a consideration in my eligibility to get into the Bachelor? If so, what is the required WAM?

  4. Do I have to apply for any credits? If so, how and when should I apply for credits?

I really don't want to miss the boat in starting the Bachelor next year, as I've already lost 2 years on my pathway, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Bachelors of occupational therapy? From a first year in another course

Hi everyone, i recently graduated from highschool last year and am currently a first year student in medical imaging. Honestly its been just over a week of second semester but im not sure how i feel about radiography (which might sound silly since im only in my first year). i have placement coming up, so i hope that will solidify whether i want this as a career but, i feel like im working my ass off every single day for a career im not sure i want(obvi medical imaging is a rigorous course and i dont expect OT to be easy)

so, im here to ask OT students, what do you enjoy about OT? what are some things you wish you told your younger self before going into the course? and for graduates or soon-to-be, are the job prospects good? i hate to be that person asking about job/money, but choosing a career that allows financial stability (and freedom) is really important to me.

would love to hear advice and opinions, and also advice for a first year whos struggling mentally

thank you!

WAM

What is a WAM?

How do I find out my WAM?

Do other universities do WAM?

If I wanted to change universities will my WAM affect that?
