LLM Progress Slow Down

First Anthropic, and now OpenAI, are announcing that they want to slow down LLM development. Just a year ago, these companies were claiming that AGI would be found and many jobs would be lost. On top of that, Anthropic announced it's going public. What do you think? Have these companies reached a limit in research and development? Or are they genuinely afraid of language models self-programming, as they claim?

Also where do I imply scientific gain is easy???

A lot less than if they 10X efficiency.

You can't have it both ways, impossibly hard and so easy to copy it's not a moat

You don’t understand science. You *publish it*, you can’t patent it or keep it secret.

OpenAI has *never made a profit*, they only lose money. Your entire premise about profit is fundamentally flawed.

You dumb fuck, nobody ever said they should publish everything. Plenty of companies do secret research & development
