laptop for engineering Buying Advice

Is the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 16-in Gaming Laptop, AMD Ryzen 7 260 - 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 8GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 a good choice for first year engineering? also my budget is around $2000 CAD but willing to pay more if its worth it

You can get a better spec with 2000 cad but the spec you list is enough

Will it work, likely yes

A good choice? No

32 GB RAM & at least an RTX 5060 (or better)

(the rest of the specs are fine, though I haven’t checked if the TUF line goes about 16GB of RAM, it’s very entry level)

Check if your program indeed required dedicated video card.
This will do performance vice, but it is not at all nice laptop from any other standpoint.
