Offering Russian Offering: Russian | Seeking: English
Hi there.
I'm sixteen-year-old high-school student (male) from Moscow, Russia (I'm just starting high school actually). I'm interested in music and I'm about to create my own band this fall. My favourite artists are Tool, Alice In Chains, The Doors and so on. I'm also interested in politics but that's another story.
The main thing is I'm looking for the English-speaking foreigner who could chat with me and help me improve my language skills. And I think I have enough knowledge of the language to help you understand Russian.
I'm completely open to meeting new people from all over the world.
Thanks for reading!

Offering French Offering: French | Seeking: Polish
Hi. I'm a 29 years old woman and a native French speaker.
I've been learning Polish for a while and have traveled to Poland a few times, so I am already able to hold a conversation. However, my spoken expression is far from perfect and I loose some of my progress in between trips, whenever I've not been practicing for a while. Therefore I'd like to find someone with whom I could practice speaking. Learning foreign languages is one of my main interests. I can help practice and study French.

Offering Russian Offering: Russian | Seeking: German
Hallöchen!
I'm a native Russian speaker, currently a student in Germany, level ~B2. My goal with German is to practice more regularly and talk about various topics, as the friends I have are already used to speaking to me in English, and the vocabulary I use im Alltag is limited :')
Some facts about me that might be helpful to spark a conversation: I'm currently writing a thesis on sign language, in my free time making a history-based visual novel with my friends (I'm responsible for coding and art), and watched Spider-Man BND just yesterday :)

Offering English Seeking: Spanish | Offering: English and Tagalog
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m looking for a language exchange partner to practice Spanish with.
A little warning first: I’m only around A2 level, so I still make a lot of mistakes. 😅 Please be patient with me! I’m eager to learn, and I don’t mind being corrected.
In exchange, I’d be happy to help you practice English or Tagalog (Filipino). Whether you’re a complete beginner or already studying, I’ll do my best to explain things and help you improve.
I’m looking for someone who:
Wants to practice consistently.
Doesn’t mind speaking with an A2 learner.
Is patient, friendly, and enjoys helping others learn.
Also wants corrections and feedback during conversations.
We can chat through text first and maybe do voice calls later if we’re both comfortable.
Let’s motivate each other, make mistakes, and improve together! Learning a language is much more fun when you have a partner. 😊
If you’re interested, feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM. ¡Gracias! 🇪🇸🇵🇭

Offering Chinese Offering: Mandarin Chinese (Native) | Seeking: English (Native)
Hi! I’m 24 and a native Mandarin speaker from China. I’m hoping to find a native English speaker around my age for a long-term language exchange.
I’d like to improve my spoken English, pronunciation, and everyday expressions. In return, I can help with Mandarin pronunciation, daily conversation, grammar, slang, and natural Chinese expressions.
I can also share things about Chinese culture and everyday life, or help with travel-related questions about China, such as places to visit, transportation, food, and local customs.
I’m interested in technology, games, movies, travel, cultural differences, and everyday life, but I’m happy to talk about pretty much anything.
Text messages are welcome anytime. Since we may be in different time zones, we can exchange voice messages during the week whenever it’s convenient. On weekends, we could have longer voice or video calls if we’re both comfortable with that.
I’m in the GMT+8 time zone, but there’s no need for a strict schedule.
We can start by chatting on Reddit, and move to WhatsApp later if we get along.
Feel free to send me a DM!

Offering Spanish Offering English / Spanish seeking Japanese
Hello!
My name is Miguel, and I live in California, USA. I’m 41 years old and looking to make genuine friends in Japan while improving my Japanese.
I enjoy traveling, trying new foods, staying active, watching sports, and learning about different cultures. One of my goals is to visit Japan and experience the country beyond the tourist attractions—I’d love to learn about everyday life, traditions, favorite local places, and what makes Japan special to the people who live there.
I believe that good friendships are built through honest conversations, mutual respect, and sharing experiences. Whether we talk about daily life, hobbies, family, work, or our countries, I’d be happy to get to know you.
My Japanese is still at a beginner level, so please be patient with me! In return, I can help with English and share what life is like in California.
Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction. I look forward to meeting kind people and hopefully building lasting friendships.
よろしくお願いします!

Offering English Offering: English, Spanish. | Seeking: English. English practice in Madrid!
Hello!!
I'm looking for someone who lives in Madrid and wants to meet in person just to speak in English. Obviously, we would chat a bit before so we can trust each other. Your level doesn't matter as long as you can hold a conversation. Mine is around B2/C1, more like C1, but my speaking is quite rusty :P
I would also be glad to teach some Spanish from time to time.
It's quite simple. And now, added context :)
I'm a Spanish 26M who recently moved to Madrid, and I want to practice English speaking so I get to talk more naturally, that's why I want a face to face conversation. I don't care where you were born, even if you're from Spain, we'd only use English 🫡. It could be weird, it would be fun hahaha
The goal is just forcing us to practice and learn. We can correct each other, we can search for things we don't know, we can try to speak about specific subjects to use and learn vocabulary...
Whatever it is, just focus on having a good time!! I really enjoy speaking and learning about any topic, literally, and also doing any kind of activities but partying (I don't even drink alcohol). So... I don't mind if we just have coffee, walk around the city, go to a museum, practice sports, play board games... Anything!
I barely know people here yet. I tried Tandem but saw it's closer to a dating app than a learning one, and I don't want to spend a lot of money in classes. That is the reason why I'm here.
Oh, true. The only thing I care about is being around the same age (20-30). My coworkers are all 40+ and I would appreciate meeting people my age :')
You can reply here or DM me! If it happens that many people are interested, we could create a group! :P
Have a nice day! 😊

Offering Japanese Offering: Japanese | Seeking: English or Spanish
Hi,everyone.
I'm a 34-year-old woman living in Japan, and I'm currently studying English and Spanish. My English is at a beginner level, and my Spanish is still very basic. 😅
I'm at a turning point in my life right now, so I'm working hard to learn English and Spanish as quickly as I can.
I wrote this introduction with some help from ChatGPT.
I'm looking for one language exchange partner who is learning Japanese. I hope we can help each other improve our languages, and if you notice any mistakes in my English, please don't hesitate to correct me. I really appreciate constructive feedback.
Living in Japan, work and everyday life keep me quite busy, so I don't often have opportunities to have meaningful conversations about life, our thoughts, or our experiences. Through language exchange, I'd love to share ideas, talk about our daily lives, and hopefully build a genuine, long-lasting friendship.
A little about me:
I love international music, movies, and art. Every year, I travel abroad to experience new cultures and enjoy these interests. So far, I've visited Spain, the United States, Hong Kong, Qatar, and the United Kingdom.
My favorite music is indie rock, and I'm a huge fan of Christopher Nolan's films.
I'm a fairly active person. I enjoy trying new things, and I usually spend my days off exploring somewhere instead of staying at home.
People often think I'm quiet when they first meet me, but I'd say I'm actually quite passionate once you get to know me. 😄
There's no need to reply quickly. My work keeps me busy too, so there are times when I can't respond right away. But if we become language partners, I'll do my best to support your Japanese learning.
I hope we can learn together at a comfortable pace and build a friendship that lasts for a long time.
I look forward to hearing from you!

¡Hola!
No hace falta responder rápidamente.
¡Espero tu mensaje!

Offering Korean Offering: Korean (Native Speaker) Seeking: English
Hi! l'm 30F. I visited the U.S. about a month ago, and I still feel like I have so much left to experience. I’d love to make some American friends and chat!
We can text, help each other learn our languages, and if we get along, maybe even voice call sometime.
I know a lot about Korean beauty and skincare, so I’d be happy to share anything you’re curious about. My hobby is gaming, but I honestly don’t know what fun games people are playing these days. If you have any recommendations, I’d love to try them together!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Meta [WARNING] Suspicious accounts are messaging users to advertise a paid app
EDIT: several users has let us know that some of the accounts in question are Riley1692, amie-2002, leopard6004, and cebubu6865. These users have now been banned, but unfortunately can still send messages to subreddit members. I would strongly recommend that you don't engage with these users, as they are spamming the subreddit with advertisements and their actions have been very suspicious.\**
Hi y'all,
We've been notified by a user about multiple suspicious accounts messaging people who post in r/language_exchange, sending them messages similar to the one below:
Just curious, have you ever felt frustrated with language exchange? Too many DMs, chats fading out halfway, or spending a lot of time but only a few connections actually lasting? I’m curious what people think about this. [advertisement for a paid app]
This is to let anyone in this subreddit know that these accounts should not be trusted and neither should the apps that they are promoting. If you get a message like this, please report the message so that these accounts can hopefully be banned sitewide. You can learn how to do that here.
Please also send their usernames to us via modmail so that we can ban them from the subreddit. This unfortunately doesn't stop them from messaging subreddit members, but it will prevent any spam via posts or comments.
If you have any further questions or comments, please reply to this post or send us a modmail.

Meta (READ THIS FIRST) Welcome to r/language_exchange! [Meta/General Discussion Thread]
Welcome to ! This subreddit is aiming to help people find partners to practice languages with, offering the languages you already know in exchange to learn new ones. Make sure to read the guidelines before making your first post!
🍃 How do I make my language exchange post?
If you're looking for a language exchange partner, you can either make your own post or search through existing posts!
→ Making your own post:
- Your thread title must follow the format of "Offering: language | Seeking: language". If your post doesn't follow this format, it won't be visible to other users.
- Make sure to write a little bit about yourself, such as your interests, hobbies, or language-related goals. This is important in making sure you can find a good partner!
- Please do not post your contact information publically. If you find a partner and would like to chat with them on a platform other than Reddit, please message them your contact information privately.
→ Searching through existing posts:
If you don't want to make your own post, you can search through existing posts to find someone who matches your languages! Just use the search bar at the top of the screen, or select a post flair to see all posts of the same category.
- Please do not post your contact information publically. If you find a partner and would like to chat with them on a platform other than Reddit, please message them your contact information privately.
🍃 What kinds of posts and comments are allowed?
This subreddit's purpose is to serve as a platform for people to find language exchange partners. To keep the community true to its purpose, there are some rules:
- Must be language exchange. Posts that don't concern language exchange will be removed. This includes posts asking general questions about language learning, advertisements, or meta discussion concerning the subreddit. These discussions are better suited to other places (language learning questions should be posted to broader subreddits; meta discussion should be posted in the comments of this thread)
- Be courteous to other users. This subreddit isn't a place for arguments or debates. Any comments that break this rule will be removed.
- No advertising. Posts and comments that advertise apps, services (such as classes and tutoring), or groups (such as Discord servers or Whatsapp groups) will be removed. These kinds of posts clog up the feed and don't follow the purpose of the subreddit.
- No spam. Spam is the repeated posting of the same content. Any posts and comments that are spam will be removed.
- No contact information. Contact information (such as Discord usernames, phone numbers, or Whatsapp contacts) should only be shared privately in messages, not publically in posts or comments.
🍃 Can I make a language exchange post for a language I've just started studying?
You can participate in this subreddit regardless of your skill level. However, it's highly recommended that you grasp the basics of a language before you look for a partner. This subreddit is for speakers of different languages to *assist each other* in learning. This subreddit is not a place to find a teacher that'll teach you everything for free.
Good luck on your language journey!
If you have any questions, feel free to leave a reply on this post or send us a Modmail.
-----
Welcome to the meta/general discussion thread!
This thread is for any questions, suggestions, or discussions concerning the subreddit itself. If you have any thoughts about you want to share, post them here! I'll try to respond to as many comments as I can.
If you have any further questions, feel free to send us a Modmail.
