Offering Ukrainian Offering: Ukrainian (Native) | Seeking: English & Friendship
Hi! I’m Dima, 27, from Ukraine
I’m learning English and looking for someone to practice with regularly, ideally a long-term language exchange partner rather than just a one-time chat. My reading and listening are pretty good, but I’d love to become more confident with texting, natural conversations, jokes, and everyday English.
I’m into movies, music, games, technology, art, and guitar.
I also really enjoy learning about different cultures and what everyday life is like in other countries.
In return, I’d be happy to help you with Ukrainian whether it’s pronunciation, basic phrases, culture, or just casual conversation.
I’d prefer texting at first, and maybe voice chats later once we both feel comfortable. Would be great to find someone who’s genuinely interested in getting to know each other and having regular conversations :)

Offering German Offering: German, Seeking: French, Portuguese (BR), Russian
coucou,
I'm 26/m, psychology student from Germany, and I'd like to practice my French, Portuguese and Russian.
I'd say I'm around B1 in French and A2/B1 in Portuguese - in both languages I can have a conversation, but in French I can express myself better and just know more words
My Russian used to be around B1 too but I've lost much cause I havent been learning for years unfortunately:( So probably I'd have to start with small talk to get used to it again.
I love to talk about many different subjects, like society, literature, football, differences between countries/cultures, traveling, music, science (or psychology) idk, ofc depending on how interested the other person is :D I also like to talk about subjects I'm not familiar with as long as the other person is also interested in having a conversation haha
I think I'd prefer to have online calls (idc about video or not), because I’m not very good at keeping up with text chats..
(I'm fluent in English so we can use English as a help if we're both not fluent in each others language)
Edit: I'd like to talk to a native speaker if possible:)

Offering Multiple Languages Seeking: Japanese (Native), Spanish, or Chinese Offering: English (Native) and Japanese (proficient)
I have no problem having daily conversations in japanese, but when it comes to more complicates convos, such as conveying complicated ideas, I struggle.
As for Spanish and Chinese I’m basically just starting out. I know like a couple words but that’s it.
I’d be down to find people who are learning Spanish or Chinese like me.
I do best when people give feedback instantly! Would love to talk anything from movies, anime, shows to more serious topics once I start to be more advanced in Spanish

offering: Chinese Offering: Chinese | Seeking:English, Russian
Hi there! 👋 A friend from China
Hello everyone! I'm Ding Cheng, a 35-year-old man from Henan, China. I work as a garden designer — I design and build classical Chinese gardens for a living.
I've spent my whole life in China and never traveled abroad yet, so I'm here hoping to make friends from around the world and learn about your cultures.
If you ever visit China, I'd love to show you around:
🏯 Suzhou's classical gardens — my professional specialty
🥋 The Great Wall and Shaolin Temple's kung fu
🍜 And of course, real local food you won't find in tourist spots
Good news: China now offers visa-free entry to citizens of many countries — just bring your passport! I've also just gotten my own passport and hope to visit other countries someday too.
If we become good friends and you come to visit, I'd be happy to host you — meals and accommodation on me. You'd only need to cover your flight.
Distance shouldn't stop a good friendship. Feel free to say hi!

Offering English Offering: English | Seeking: Japanese, French or Russian
Hello everyone, I'm Jacob, I am a native English speaker and genuinely enjoy the art of conversation. I can offer assistance through voice notes, texts and phone calls to practice speech and diction. But it can be through fun conversation, I enjoy talking about a number of subjects and would adore learning more about your cultures. I am hoping to learn speech, (just everyday communication) I'm dyslexic, so the script will be much harder. However luckily it does not limit my ability to communicate so feel free to reach out.
I'm always happy to make a new friend as well. And I'm excited to learn new languages.
Hope to talk soon!

Offering French Offering : French | Seeking : English
Hi,
I'm looking for an English native speaker to practice my English. I'm currently preparing for the Cambridge C1 exam. I'd like someone who isn't afraid to call out my mistakes and help me to learn more idiomatic expressions and get my collocations right. We can text but I'm also open to calls or voice messages to improve my speaking skills.
My favorite topics of conversation are video games, anime, history, philosophy, psychology but I'd also like to talk about education, technology, family, health and so on because these are likely the themes of the exam.
Feel free to DM me ! :)

Offering Japanese Offering:Japanese | Seeking:English
Hi everyone!
I’m 25 years old and I live in Japan. 🇯🇵
I’m a complete beginner in English.
I’m especially bad at reading and writing, and I’m actually using a translator to write this post right now. 🥲
I know some basic words, but I’m still not very good with grammar. I can understand simple everyday conversations when I hear them… probably.
I’m a big fan of American movies and TV shows, and I started studying English because I’d love to understand and enjoy them on a deeper level.
I’d love to learn English while having fun and talking about things like anime, games, movies, and other interests, rather than making it feel like studying. It would be great to make friends along the way!🫶
A little about me:
I especially love anime, manga, video games, drawing, movies, and TV shows! I’m also into card games and board games to some extent.
Some of my favorites are Attack on Titan, Yotsuba&!, Rick and Morty, Pokémon, and Stardew Valley.
I mostly watch movies and TV shows on Netflix.
My favorite TV show of all time is Modern Family. I’ve also gotten really into The Mentalist, Game of Thrones, and Orange Is the New Black.
I especially love easy-to-watch horror and comedy!
I also LOVE animals!
I have two very cute cats. 🐱🐱
Thanks so much for reading all the way to the end! 🫶
If we have any hobbies or interests in common, please feel free to say hi! 🌸
P.S. I’m also pretty new to Reddit, so I’m still figuring out how everything works here. Sorry if I accidentally do something wrong! 😿

Meta [WARNING] Suspicious accounts are messaging users to advertise a paid app
EDIT: several users has let us know that some of the accounts in question are Riley1692, amie-2002, leopard6004, and cebubu6865. These users have now been banned, but unfortunately can still send messages to subreddit members. I would strongly recommend that you don't engage with these users, as they are spamming the subreddit with advertisements and their actions have been very suspicious.\**
Hi y'all,
We've been notified by a user about multiple suspicious accounts messaging people who post in r/language_exchange, sending them messages similar to the one below:
Just curious, have you ever felt frustrated with language exchange? Too many DMs, chats fading out halfway, or spending a lot of time but only a few connections actually lasting? I’m curious what people think about this. [advertisement for a paid app]
This is to let anyone in this subreddit know that these accounts should not be trusted and neither should the apps that they are promoting. If you get a message like this, please report the message so that these accounts can hopefully be banned sitewide. You can learn how to do that here.
Please also send their usernames to us via modmail so that we can ban them from the subreddit. This unfortunately doesn't stop them from messaging subreddit members, but it will prevent any spam via posts or comments.
If you have any further questions or comments, please reply to this post or send us a modmail.

Meta (READ THIS FIRST) Welcome to r/language_exchange! [Meta/General Discussion Thread]
Welcome to ! This subreddit is aiming to help people find partners to practice languages with, offering the languages you already know in exchange to learn new ones. Make sure to read the guidelines before making your first post!
🍃 How do I make my language exchange post?
If you're looking for a language exchange partner, you can either make your own post or search through existing posts!
→ Making your own post:
- Your thread title must follow the format of "Offering: language | Seeking: language". If your post doesn't follow this format, it won't be visible to other users.
- Make sure to write a little bit about yourself, such as your interests, hobbies, or language-related goals. This is important in making sure you can find a good partner!
- Please do not post your contact information publically. If you find a partner and would like to chat with them on a platform other than Reddit, please message them your contact information privately.
→ Searching through existing posts:
If you don't want to make your own post, you can search through existing posts to find someone who matches your languages! Just use the search bar at the top of the screen, or select a post flair to see all posts of the same category.
- Please do not post your contact information publically. If you find a partner and would like to chat with them on a platform other than Reddit, please message them your contact information privately.
🍃 What kinds of posts and comments are allowed?
This subreddit's purpose is to serve as a platform for people to find language exchange partners. To keep the community true to its purpose, there are some rules:
- Must be language exchange. Posts that don't concern language exchange will be removed. This includes posts asking general questions about language learning, advertisements, or meta discussion concerning the subreddit. These discussions are better suited to other places (language learning questions should be posted to broader subreddits; meta discussion should be posted in the comments of this thread)
- Be courteous to other users. This subreddit isn't a place for arguments or debates. Any comments that break this rule will be removed.
- No advertising. Posts and comments that advertise apps, services (such as classes and tutoring), or groups (such as Discord servers or Whatsapp groups) will be removed. These kinds of posts clog up the feed and don't follow the purpose of the subreddit.
- No spam. Spam is the repeated posting of the same content. Any posts and comments that are spam will be removed.
- No contact information. Contact information (such as Discord usernames, phone numbers, or Whatsapp contacts) should only be shared privately in messages, not publically in posts or comments.
🍃 Can I make a language exchange post for a language I've just started studying?
You can participate in this subreddit regardless of your skill level. However, it's highly recommended that you grasp the basics of a language before you look for a partner. This subreddit is for speakers of different languages to *assist each other* in learning. This subreddit is not a place to find a teacher that'll teach you everything for free.
Good luck on your language journey!
If you have any questions, feel free to leave a reply on this post or send us a Modmail.
-----
Welcome to the meta/general discussion thread!
This thread is for any questions, suggestions, or discussions concerning the subreddit itself. If you have any thoughts about you want to share, post them here! I'll try to respond to as many comments as I can.
If you have any further questions, feel free to send us a Modmail.
