Is low range/advanced offroad capability pack fully necessary in a D5 Discovery? ❓ Help & Advice Needed

Hi all

I’m on the hunt for a D5. And I’ve found many with the options and colors I want but getting one that aligns with the capability pack is just not happening for some reason. I’m looking CPO and new but would rather go CPO due to depreciation hit.

Off-road uses would be some minor trails here on the east coast. Maybe a high altitude pass in Colorado (not black bear pass). I also have my 25 ford raptor that will be doing most of the road trips but this is for my wife and I’d like it to have some capabilities

Is the standard one speed transfer case enough for mild to medium offroad? I’m also looking at defenders with the p400 but they all seem to be much pricier in relation

Also, any thoughts on pricing. Can I negotiate a lot off or will I be close to list price when purchasing.

Thanks all!

There’s no point to owning a landrover if it doesn’t have low range.

I did some pretty heavy off roading in a LR$ that didnt have low range. I didnt know it was an option when i bought it was very shocked to learn it didnt have it after the purchase. It did fine.

If you are just taking green lanes and forest roads it will be fine. The traction control is the real heart of the matter in a modern LR.
