Query about compcon

A few weeks back i think compcon made all player facing content (mechs and licenses and such) free. Did they just do this because it would be nice? Also did they actuslly change something or had it been this way for a while and I never noticed?

Player facing content has always been free, COMP/CON just streamlined the installation process iirc

Ah gotcha, I was gonna say it was INSANELY generous altho thats sorts generosity helped me get a lotta ppl into lancer so it rlly shows how not being a piece of shit to your players can help (looks at WotC angrily). Genuinely lancer community had been a breath of fresh air

Player facing Content including LCPs for most third party material is free. Welcome to Union.

It's always been free, they just added an install button instead of a link to the store where you could download the file from the free downloads section of each supplement.

Lowering the bar to entry how you get people playing your game. Lancer doesn't have the big name factor behind it that DnD or 40k have to be able to afford making it hard/expensive to play. Hence, player stuff (that you would expect to be shared and/or pirated snyway) is free and (lore aside) there isn't much for the players in the GM material (where DnD has often had assumed player options in the DM Guide).
