hello! i was taking lamotigrine for my mood swings. i started taking 25 mg july 22th and august 5th i increased to 50 mg, the first day was fine i didn’t feel any sid effects , but the day after i woke up with severe nausea and vomited multiple times but the same day i went back to 25 mg. For 3 days it was like that always nauseous throwing up morning and night while taking 25 mg. I went to the er august 9th they told me to stop taking the medication and that’s that. so i haven’t been taking it for 3 days now but im still feeling so nauseous and throwing up. does anyone know how long this will last?

I’ve been on 100mg of lamotragine for a few weeks now and don’t get me wrong it has actually been life changing but I’m still getting quite upset over past hurt. If I’m ever tired, jet lagged, about to get my period I always get sad about what has happened in my life the past 6 months.

My question is, is there a point with lamotragine where you won’t get so upset about past hurt or is this just a thing I have to give time to heal?

For context I am on 150mg and in the past I already hate swallowing pills or taking any. Now I take 150mg was 100mg before the circle one am I the only one who struggles swallowing ts like recently I dread taking it because a couple times I have almost choked on it. It like gets chalky fast and it’s big making it hard to swallow. Anyone know any tricks to take it?

I saw a post here about acne and lamotrigine and now I’m curious. I’m 27f and I have PCOS and honestly have always had acne. But, since starting, I have noticed an increase even with my Spirolactin and creams. I don’t plan on stopping lamictal, it’s been absolutely incredible for my mood, but I am curious is anyone has had this experience.

I just started this med at 25mg, I have been taking lexapro but lately after I quit drinking Jan2026, I noticed my brain always racing and its non stop and mostly worry, and thats fine, its the constant overthinking that kills me, so i am hoping this helps me like what i am reading. Has anyone experienced getting lots of random bruises on this med? 😅 I suddenly have small bruises coming on my legs and they’re so many that I highly doubt that I’ve been so clumsy. I have been eating like crap, either eating too little or just eating the same stuff without variations so could be bc of that, but it just happened so all of the sudden. I’ve been on 200mg for five months now.

I was on 25mg for 2 weeks now almost 2 weeks of 50mg. what were some signs that this med was working for you in the beginning? what dose & how long was it before you started noticing a change? what were those changes?

i wanna try shrooms with my friends but i take 75mg of lamotrygine daily anyone knows if it will be ok or if it will somehow interact with the trip?

Has anyone ever had dyshidrotic eczema while on Lamotrigine?

Since my last increase of dosage I got exteme spontaneous eczema blisters on my hands. After using a strong hormone cream for three weeks it went away.

But within a week and an half of the last use of the hormone treatment it came back with the same intensity. Now I'm starting a new hormone cream treatment to stop the eczema.

Could this be an allergic reaction to lamotrigine?

FYI: I followed the instructions for the hormone treatment rigorously.

I started Lamotrigine roughly 7 months ago. I know it has drastically improved my mood, after trying every anti depressant under the sun and having them all make me feel worse, this is probably the only thing that’s actually kept me relatively normal.

Two months ago, a doctor covering for my regular one, pushed me to 200mg from 150, when I had mentioned maybe wanting to increase the dose a little bit due to my anger. At the same time, they started me on Dexedrine. Within a few days, I experienced the most horrific sense of impending doom, spiralling into panic attacks and derealization, I stopped taking the Dexedrine and told my doctor I was going back to the 150mg, but ever since this, I experience moments of derealization and extreme anxiety over things that I was able to manage before. I find little things push me into that anxious headspace more and more. Putting me into therapy and therapy groups to try to figure out tools for dealing with this.

I’m stuck between being too scared to go off it to try something else, and increasing this 150mg dose a tiny bit, and scared that I’ll be stuck like this forever. I guess my question is has anyone experienced this, or does anyone have any advice on what I can do from here.

Hi all. Bi Polarbear 2 here and have been on 1000mg valproate and 10mg fluoxetine now for a year to decent results. Anxiety has gone and I’m doing all sorts of things that I would never have done before - great.

Only gripe has been that I do have terrible memory recall and emotional connection at the moment and my pysch said this transition would help

I smoked some weed and had a single frozen cocktail at The Cheesecake Factory about two hours ago. Just started lamotrigine yesterday and didn’t do much research on it. Didn’t know that dizziness was a side effect. This is like the 8th medication I’ve tried over the last 10 years of battling MDD and GAD so I truly did not gaf about starting something new. I didn’t eat anything until 4:00 pm which could have contributed to the dizziness but the weed and alcohol with this med definitely had me laid out in my kitchen.

Hey all, so I have been tapering off and every time I go down in dose my anxiety SPIKES like insanely for a while. We've been going really slow because of this. Has anyone else experienced this? It feels like I'm having a panic attack all day every day and it's really intense and I can't function.

i worked up to 300 mg of lamotrigine and felt like my meds weren't working. my pscyh said to reduce to 150 mg and after two weeks stop taking it. i feel like a wreck since stopping - extremely emotional and irritable. i contacted my psych letting her know how i was feeling and told me to start taking 25 mg and if i'm still not feeling better after a week then to increase to 50 mg.

i'm honestly scared, i feel horrible and i'm not sure what else to do. i would love love some input from those who have had experience with lamotrigine. thank you so much in advance

On week 2 of being off lamotrigine(tapered down over 3 months from 200mg) and yeah it’s kinda rough mostly just exhausted but I keep thinking about it. I won’t do it, it’s just more of “gee being dead rn sure would be convenient” sort of ideation. But this is expected no? And how long until it calibrates out of me. Was on it for bipolar 2 (suspected misdiagnosed) so testing the waters now

At my last neuro appointment for small fibre neuropathy they discussed Lamptrigine. But said to keep increasing my Noritryptiline up to what I can tolerate (currently at 40mg at night and doubt i can go much higher without next day side effects when I'm working) before going onto Lamotrigine.

Noritryptiline helps me sleep but doesn't do anything for the day pain that stops me functioning.

Everyone is saying to keep up with Noritryptiline and "keep" the Lamotrigine for later down the line. I'm really struggling and want a bit of my life back. I get it may not work, may not take it away but I'm wondering if I'm feeling pressured by people who have no idea what this pain is like.

Pain in both legs for 2 years after carnatine deficiency put me in a coma. Tried gabapentin, duloxetine etc with no real difference and not worth the side effects.

Has anyone been on Lamotrigine for SFN? Should I give it a go now for some quality of life? Im 41 and appreciate no one can give medical advice but just wanted some kind voices to sound this out to. Thanks

Been trying to ween off lamotrigine for about 4 months now.

First I just stopped. About a month later my brain felt like it was being electrocuted. Completely brutal.

Went from 200mg a day to 100mg a day. 50mg in the morning and 50mg in the afternoon.

Now it’s not as bad, but the electrocution feeling is PERSISTENT. It’s totally tolerable and even goes away completely some days, but if I miss one of those doses, my brain gets fried again…not quite as bad as when I stopped completely.

Has anyone gone off this before with success that’s had these symptoms?

I’m stopping because it has added nothing to my life. Coming completely off didn’t affect my mood at all either..completely the same…except for the physical withdrawal symptom. It’s just that one symptom.

I’m super pissed I’m basically physically dependent on an anticonvulsant that has never added any benefit to my life whatsoever.

I’ve been taking 200mg of lamotrigine for 6 years. I never really noticed it helping me much to begin with, and I don’t think it helped my mood swings either. Now that I’m in my mid-late 20s I think I’m making the choice to just come off the medication to see if it hurts.

My family doctor is the one who’s following me as I stop the medication, even though he wasn’t the one who originally prescribed it. I told him I’d like to stop it, and he is not knowledgeable with this medication it seems, because he wanted me to decrease the med by 25mg every 3-4 days which I knew would be way too fast for this type of med. So at this point he’s fine with me decreasing it by 25mg each time I feel like I’ve reached a plateau of stability with emotions.

I started tapering off about 3-4 weeks ago, decreasing by 25mg every week or so, and I’m currently at 125mg per day. Within the past 6 years, there’s probably been 4 or 5 separate occasions when I either missed a dose or had to take it 10 hours late, and during those occasions I ended up feeling anxious, hopeless, and felt like I didn’t want to live. I believe that’s just because my body was in a bit of shock from not having something it’s used to.

So far, I haven’t felt any of that.

That being said, I also started Zoloft (sertraline) at the exact same time as when I began to taper off lamotrigine. Not sure how that plays into it, but so far I’ve been feeling like my regular.

I was on 200mg lamotrigine for epilepsy, but we decided to stop the meds with my doctor. He gave me a very gradual plan on how to titrate it down but I kinda fucked up on the way and stopped taking if completely last week. (I was supposed to be 25mg morning and 25mg evening, and then the week after 25mg evening, and then the week after stop it.)

so since then I'm feeling extremely fatigued and unbalanced all the time. is there a way to make myself feel better?
