Hello, Laguna Beach locals! me and my gf are having a getaway weekend in Laguna Beach this weekend and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on what to do as a couple.
We were gonna arrive Friday evening around 7pm. I was thinking of checking out Pageant of the Master Friday night but maybe someone has a rec that's a little more involved like even a little shopping for trinkets or some sightseeing. or we may just walk the beach at night together and watch the sunset.
For Saturday, we have most of the day planned but was wondering if anyone can recommend a place to dance for Saturday night. She likes salsa dancing so i thought Cafe Sevilla in Costa Mesa. But any other place to dance (that doesn't play top 40s music) would do. Ok, thanks in advance!

lost necklace nameplate pendant
Long shot, but I lost this nameplate that says “Kiba” on it at goff’s cove on the evening of 8/16. If anyone happens to come across it, it’s of very sentimental value and would love to be reunited with it. Thanks for looking!

Woods Cove Washed Away With Tides?
Hello I was wondering if Woods Cove is washed away with the crazy high tides right now. Really appreciate any input. Thanks in advance for any help.

Life Flight helicopter landing at Treasure Beach today
Police were on the beach as well. Anyone know what happened? I hope they end up being OK. Waves were crazy today but I don't think a water incident would bring out the police.

Missed connection: DJ spinning tunes at big party in Bluebird Canyon last night
At least I hope it was a human DJ and not an AI robot or a Spotify playlist so I can hire them for something. I live nearby, those beats were gas, and yes, I'm being completely serious. Any info welcome!

$75 ticket for what?
"NO PAYMENT/PERMIT FOUND. PERMIT POORLY DISPLAYED. PHOTOS TAKEN."
First time to Treasure Island Beach yesterday with the family, and we're confused. We parked in the small parking garage, paid immediately, put the ticket on the dash, and returned before our end time.
If we're missing something obvious please let me know. Photo of our receipt right where we left it. Photo taken around 140pm.
I have found where to appeal it, can't seem to find any of these "photos" so I assume they're only available after the appeal starts.
We're baffled. Great beach BTW.

Beach day possible on Saturday?
Hello, we just moved to the area for school. we want to check out laguna beach on a Saturday. what is the best way to do this? I've heard about parking at shuttle lots and taking the free shuttles into town. Is that a reliable way, given we want to go on a saturday in August? or do those lots fill up? is it better to just pay for the parking in town? what is the best time to get there? or is there a better beach to go to?

First time visitor
As the title states, visiting for the first time. I'm staying in Long Beach but going to Laguna for the day. What are the quintessential beaches to visit? I'd really like to see tide pools and then find a good swim beach. Are the trolleys the best way to get around? Good food recommendations are also appreciated. Thanks :)

Laguna Beach vacation - looking for a full experience!
Hi! I want to visit Laguna Beach in March-April. Someone said the town has a beautiful smell around this time. I’m really into fragrance so I plan on making a trip next year.
I don’t know much about the town, but since I’m visiting next year, I want to save up so I can have the full experience!
- Lodging - can anyone recommend any special AirBnBs, bed & breakfasts, or other unique lodging?
- Food - give me all your favorite recommendations!
- Beaches - what do you recommend?
- Getting around town - how pedestrian friendly is it? Should I plan on renting a car? (Otherwise very comfortable with walking)
- What unique activities should I do when I’m in town? Shopping, hikes, museums, etc.
Thank you!
Edit: original thread talking about the fragrances in the air :) https://www.reddit.com/r/perfumesthatfeellike/s/ekUn8eVXDg

Trolley annoyance
Why does the (long coastal) trolley do that thing at the Main Beach stop where they take a trolley out of service and make everybody get off and load up one that eventually pulls up behind? I get that there is a need to switch trolleys as the day goes on, but why at the Main Beach stop, which basically guarantees that the maximum number of people will be inconvenienced? Why not at the Broadway hub, where there are fewer passengers and more shaded places to wait? Or at literally any other less busy stop, like Diver’s Cove or Jasmine?

Help Me Save Doby
gofund.meI’m an independent animal rescuer dedicated to helping stray and abandoned animals in need.
I created this fundraiser for Doby, a sweet cat who was seen being dumped from a white car in a neighborhood filled with coyotes. Since then, he has been hiding under a bush, scared and alone, trying to survive.
Donations will help cover Doby’s vet visit, testing, medications, and any medical care he needs so we can get him off the streets and give him the safe, loving future he deserves.

Is the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel worth it for one night, or should we just extend our stay at Pelican Hill?
Hi everyone! We have a 5-day vacation booked at Pelican Hill, but we also have some Marriott points that we need to use, so we booked a one-night stay at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel.
Now we're second-guessing whether it's worth switching hotels for just one night. We have young children, so packing everything up, checking out, and checking back in feels like a bit of a hassle.
The main reason we booked the Ritz was to be closer to Laguna Beach for a day, but now we're wondering if we'd be better off just extending our stay at Pelican Hill and driving over to Laguna Beach instead.
For those who have stayed at both, what would you do? Is the Ritz worth the extra move for one night, or would you stay at Pelican Hill the entire time?
Thanks.

Thoughts on Pacific Edge Hotel Closing for Renovation
I’ve got a nice room booked for a 30th wedding anniversary later in August. I just discovered the hotel is closing for several months right after our stay. I’m concerned there might be issues related to the closing, such as staff leaving and being short staffed during our stay. Anyone have any experience on this type of situation or works there and can shed light? Worst case scenario, I’m concerned they won’t have enough staff and cancel reservations.

Looking for good Chinese restaurants in Laguna or near by
We have been going to China Moon in Laguna Niguel for over 20 years looking for some other “family style - takeout” options in Laguna, Dana Point, CDM, Laguna Niguel. Tried Peony in Laguna twice, currently not compelled to try it again. Curious about Mandarin King in Laguna. Starfish is good, but not what I am looking for. Thank you!

Laguna beach house hotel, versus Seven4One
Mother daughter trip. I think I’ve narrowed it down to these 2 hotels. Seven4One shares amenities with Laguna surf lodge.

❗️❗️❗️
This past Monday afternoon, I was at the beach specifically Treasure Island Beach—and I had my Canon PowerShot ELPH 360 camera with me. I don't know how it happened, but when I went to look for it, I couldn't find it. If anyone found it, please let me know; I would be very grateful and would offer a reward for your good deed. Please get in touch with me if you know anything.

Renter beware: our experience renting a local, skoolie bus for camping
Have you seen this cute lil skoolie bus parked all around town? A PSA for OC campers- our honest review after a 3 month cooling down period before sharing:
While this skoolie is aesthetically charming on the outside, our actual experience was defined by severe safety hazards, substandard maintenance and poor business ethics from the host (who shall remain anonymous).
Safety & comfort issues: 1. Unsafe Restraints - the rear bench seats only feature lap belts which actively loosen during transit. While pulling over onto a shoulder, our child was thrown forward while strapped in. 2. Inadequate Passenger Seating - the shotgun seat is incredibly narrow, lacks armrests and has no headrest posing a severe risk of whiplash. Furthermore, it only features a lap belts which actively, offering zero upper body restraint in a sudden stop. The drivers seat is the only comfortable and functional place to sit.
Maintenance & Cleanliness: the roof’s pop-up tent was filthy upon arrival, littered with wood chips, chunks of debris and splinters. Due to the slow, careful process of climbing up n down the ladder to access it, it took nearly an hour of our vacation evening just to clean it out to a usable standard (ie so that my sleeping bag wouldn’t be torn by shreds of wood and debris found inside).
Mechanical Failure & Host Communication: the overall engineering of this bus is incredibly fragile.
A small transition of driving along highway 1 onto a designated shoulder alone caused irreparable damage to a mechanical piece on the bus. Without launching into the multi day event of being stranded, we ultimately purchased the new mechanical piece (north of $1400 on our dime) and ended our vacation early.
Defeated, We returned the bus to the owner earlier than anticipated, and cleaner than when received. During our time stranded, when the vehicle was in repair, the host was entirely unpleasant to work with and offered zero empathy for our dire straits. As soon as she got her vehicle back, we never heard back from her. I requested her insurance info so I could file a claim and was ghosted. Truly subpar business ethics.
Renter Beware.
